Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Dugu Yan’s Visit
Chapter 66: Dugu Yan's Visit
After outlining the specific training plans to the four clan members, Yang Potian dismissed them, realizing there were still several things he needed to handle himself.
That afternoon, he headed back to the Deans' Hall. The three deans seemed to be busy, so he waited a while before he was able to meet with them.
Seeing him, they seemed slightly surprised. "Yang Potian, back so soon? Is there something you need?"
"Esteemed Deans, I wanted to check on the approval from His Highness regarding my proposal to form the secondary team for the Soul Master Tournament in seven years."
Dean Meng Shenji nodded. "The Crown Prince has approved your request. You are officially appointed as the captain of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's second team, and you're responsible for selecting and training the members. The team will not be assigned an additional teacher."
"Thank you, esteemed Deans. I've already selected some of the team members for the next tournament: Yang Ping'an, Tai Long, Niu Meng, and Bai Xiaofei. They're all Grandmasters now, so I'd like to start their training as soon as possible."
"Starting now? Isn't that a bit early? We still have seven years ahead."
"Esteemed Deans, it's common knowledge that most participants in the tournament are high-level Soul Elders at the very least. My aim is to train these students thoroughly so that, by the tournament, we'll have several Soul Ancestors on our team. Given their current ranks, I anticipate that early training is essential."
The deans exchanged glances before one spoke. "You've thought this through very well, Yang Potian. Was there anything specific you needed from us?"
"I'd like to request a designated training area within the academy, large enough to accommodate our drills and activities. I'd also like to request support for medicinal baths for our future team members."
After a brief discussion, Dean Meng Shenji replied, "There's an empty training field—Training Field #3—that I'll assign for your team's exclusive use. As for medicinal bath support, the academy provides special funding for tournament teams. You can collect what you need directly from the administration. We'll also assign you the title of assistant instructor to oversee your team's activities."
"Additionally, we'll have Teacher Li assist you with team administration tasks. This will give you more time to focus on your training."
"Thank you, esteemed Deans."
After expressing his gratitude and discussing further details with the deans, Yang Potian left with the official documents signed by the three deans. The documents confirmed his appointment as the captain and assistant instructor for the Heaven Dou Academy Second Team, allocation of Training Field #3, and details of the special subsidies granted to the team for resources like medicinal herbs and training materials.
With these arrangements, the Heaven Dou Academy Second Team was officially forming, consisting of three power-attack specialists—Yang Potian, Yang Ping'an, and Tai Long; one agility-attack specialist, Bai Xiaofei; and one defense specialist, Niu Meng. Now, only control and support members were missing, but Yang Potian was confident he'd fill those roles soon.
That evening, while Yang Potian was meditating alone in his dormitory, he heard a knock at the door. Surprised, he wondered who it could be since he had just arrived at the academy and hadn't had the chance to make any friends.
When he opened the door, he saw none other than Dugu Yan standing there with another girl.
"Yan Yan! It's been a while. What brings you to my dorm so late?"
Dugu Yan seemed slightly excited. "Yang Potian, you brat! You started studying at Heaven Dou Academy and didn't even let me know. I told you a long time ago I was studying here."
"Yan Yan, I was just really busy today with everything going on."
"Stop calling me Yan Yan; we're not kids anymore. Just call me Sister Yan from now on."
"Alright, Sister Yan. How did you know I was here at Heaven Dou Academy?"
Dugu Yan looked amused. "Everyone knows you're here! The genius disciple of the Po Zhi Clan, Yang Potian—Spirit: Po Zhi Spear, only twelve years old and already a Soul Elder at level 35! It's the talk of the entire academy. Pretty soon, the whole city will know."
Yang Potian scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed. He had expected to attract some attention, but not this much.
"Sister Yan, it's not exactly something I was trying to make a big deal about. But come in, please."
He led them into his dorm's lounge and poured them each a cup of tea.
Looking around, Yang Potian couldn't help but marvel at how luxurious his dormitory was. Not only did he have his own building, but it was also fully equipped with a kitchen, bedroom, living room, and even a meeting room—perfect for housing an entire team if needed.
The girl who had come with Dugu Yan looked about the same age, slim with a refined figure, and wore a black veil over her face. Her cascading blue hair hung down her back, and her eyes, a striking match to her hair color, gave her a calm, quiet demeanor that seemed oddly familiar.
"Sister Yan, how did you know which dorm I was in?" he asked.
Dugu Yan chuckled. "You're quite the celebrity now. I just asked a teacher in the administration, and they told me."
"Seems like Sister Yan has connections here. You must know all the right people."
"Watch your words, brat," she said, half-teasingly. "We haven't seen each other in half a year—did you miss me?"
Yang Potian laughed. Ever since Dugu Yan had visited the Po Zhi Clan with her father three years ago, their families had grown closer. She often visited, and occasionally Yang Potian and Yang Ping'an would accompany their parents to visit Dugu Yan's family in Heaven Dou City.
With their ages close and their similar talent, they naturally became fast friends. Dugu Yan's straightforward nature, almost like an older sister, was something both Yang Potian and Yang Ping'an admired.
"Sister Yan, is there a particular reason you came to my dorm so late?" he asked, sensing she had something to discuss.
"Nothing specific. I heard you'd started studying at the academy and had suddenly become quite the sensation, so I thought I'd bring my friend over to meet you—the 'famous' Yang Potian."
