Douluo: Soul-Breaking spear

Chapter 282: Chapter 282: Attack on the Heart

Chapter 282: Attack on the Heart

With a powerful thrust, Yang Potian's Soul-Breaking Spear descended, blocking Tang Xiao and his group's escape route.

Seeing Yang Potian appear, Tang Xiao's face twisted in alarm. "Yang Potian, our Clear Sky Clan may have had some disputes with your clan in the past, but there's no need to bring it to this extent. How about we both take a step back and leave each other alone from now on?"

Yang Potian let out a cold laugh. "That's a rather interesting take. Back when you barged into Sky Journey Academy, you certainly didn't show this kind of restraint. If you had, I wouldn't be troubling you now. Don't you think it's a little too late to be saying such things?"

"Yang Potian, let's be reasonable here. One more ally is always better than one more enemy. From now on, our Clear Sky Clan and your clan could have nothing more to do with each other. You walk your path, and we'll walk ours."

Tang Xiao's once-proud demeanor had faded, and he now resembled a tiger brought low, clinging to the last shreds of dignity.

Yang Potian shook his head. "People often refuse to face reality until they have no choice. Back then, the Spirit Hall spared the Clear Sky Clan, and yet all you've done since is plan your revenge. If I let you go today, what's to stop you from someday rising again and bringing harm to my family?"

Tang Xiao's expression turned dark. "Yang Potian, don't forget that without our Clear Sky Clan, your clan would still be a minor one. Who knows, maybe you would've been swallowed up by others long ago, without any opportunity for growth."

"Hahaha, so just because we were once allied with your clan, we're supposed to serve you for life? Be your slaves forever? Titan and Bai He may be willing to bow down, but I have no interest in servitude," Yang Potian laughed bitterly.

Tang Xiao, undeterred, pressed on. "Even if you kill us here today, it won't change anything. My grandfather, Tang Chen, still lives, and so does my nephew, Tang San. Both of them will seek vengeance. Why don't we let go of this hatred and go our separate ways?"

"Such wishful thinking, Tang Xiao. I'm not Qian Daoliu; I won't make the mistake of letting a snake live, only for it to turn and bite me later."

Realizing there was little hope, Tang Xiao began to gather his spirit power for one final stand.

Yang Potian, however, remained unperturbed. "Judging by the direction you're headed, it seems you're trying to flee to the Star Dou Forest. I'm afraid I have bad news for you. If I'm sensing correctly, Di Tian won't arrive for several hours yet."

Tang Xiao's eyes widened in surprise. "You... you know about Di Tian? Just how much do you know?"

Yang Potian smirked. "If I didn't know my own enemies, what would be the point of standing here? It's not just the Black Dragon King Di Tian. Bear Lord left the Star Dou Forest as well, but the distance is too great—they'll need at least a few more hours to get here."

"A shame, really," he added with a smirk. "If a few more spirit beasts from the Star Dou Forest had come along, things might have been more interesting."

Tang Xiao's eyes blazed with fury. "There's no way this is a coincidence. The Spirit Empire attacks us, and you just happen to be in our path. You've gone as far as to join forces with Spirit Hall, betraying your own grievances?"

"Tang Xiao, you're smarter than I thought. You don't disappoint as the longtime Clear Sky Clan Master. Too bad your strength and foresight don't measure up."

"What else do you know?" Tang Xiao's voice grew dark. "There's no way you'd act against us without a powerful ally."

Yang Potian smiled. "I'll let you in on some bad news. Your old clan master, Tang Chen, is dead. As for your 'good' nephew Tang San—well, can you really be sure he's your nephew? What do you think, Tang Hao?"

Tang Hao, who had been unconscious, suddenly opened his eyes. "Yang Potian, what are you talking about? What do you know? There's no way you could have killed my grandfather."

Yang Potian chuckled. "Hate to disappoint, but your grandfather has been gone for years. The truth is, you've seen him yourself—you just didn't recognize him. A bit late to realize now, isn't it?"

"Lies! My grandfather was a peerless hero, renowned as the world's strongest. How could he have fallen?"

"Your beloved grandfather Tang Chen sought to become a god by completing the Shura Nine Trials at the Slaughter City. But he failed the eighth trial, was cursed by the Rakshasa God, and ended up possessed by the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King. The one you knew as the King of Slaughter was none other than Tang Chen himself. Surprised?"

"The King of Slaughter? How could someone so corrupted be my grandfather?"

"Oh, but deep down, you know it's true. Tell me, how many other people do you know who could rule the entire Slaughter City? How many others can subdue you, Tang Hao, without using a single spirit skill?"

Hearing these words, both Tang Xiao and Tang Hao fell silent, each recalling their memories of the King of Slaughter. They finally realized the truth, and tears began streaming down their faces.

"Grandfather... how could this have happened to you? How did our Clear Sky Clan, once the world's greatest sect, come to this?"

Yang Potian ignored their pain and pressed on. "And one more thing, Tang Hao—are you sure Tang San is really your son? As his father, you raised him. Surely you noticed his many... peculiarities?"

Tang Hao looked at Yang Potian in shock. "You don't know what you're talking about. Xiao San is my son."

Yang Potian let out a mocking laugh. "Before Tang San awakened his twin spirits, you paid him no mind, letting him fend for himself. Only when he awakened the Blue Silver Emperor did you decide to start training him."

"Also, the so-called Tang Sect techniques he's been using—Tang San had started practicing them secretly by the age of six. Don't tell me you, as his father, knew nothing of this?"

Tang Hao's face turned cold. "What else do you know?"

"Let's see... Tang San is, in part, the son of a spirit beast, bearing their bloodline. That's one of the reasons Di Tian supports him. As for that ten-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor spirit bone hidden in your mountain cave—oh, I took that. Although it doesn't suit me perfectly, it would be a waste not to take it."

"I had no interest in that Blue Silver Emperor plant in the cave. As for the Blue Silver King in the forest, I've already killed it. This means your son Tang San will never be able to awaken his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline."

Tang Hao glared, fury seething in his voice. "You monster! If you wanted to kill us, you could have done so outright. Why go to such lengths to torment us?"

Yang Potian's expression grew colder. "Don't pretend to be innocent. During the Clear Sky Clan's conflict, your clan betrayed us, casting aside my family and leaving us to face death alone. I had intended to let the past be, but you shameless fools dared to bring trouble to my home on Mount Almo. Who gave you the right?"

Tang Xiao spoke up with quiet intensity. "Perhaps our Clear Sky Clan was in the wrong, but remember: it was Spirit Hall that slaughtered your clan. And here you are, siding with them against us. How can you face the souls of your clan members who died for you?"

Yang Potian scoffed. "Oh, rest assured, both the Clear Sky Clan and Spirit Hall will pay for their sins. You can rest in peace."
