Douluo: Qian Xunji's Joyful Life

Chapter 45: Chapter 45: The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan’s Assist

Chapter 45: The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's Assist

It was indeed the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's "little princess," Bibi Dong.

The young man's previously arrogant expression vanished on the spot. Though he was an earl's son, even a duke would think twice before offending the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's little princess, so he fled in haste.

Ah Yin expressed her thanks, saying, "Thank you for your help."

Bibi Dong waved it off, clenching a dainty fist. "Don't mention it. Heaven Dou City is full of these toads that long for swan meat. You're too kindhearted. When you meet someone who harasses you like that, don't hold back—use force."

"But, Dong'er, he's an earl's son, protected by the Heaven Dou royal family. This young lady is here alone; you can't just tell her to beat him up," came a voice as mild as a spring breeze—one easily endearing. The man calling Bibi Dong "Dong'er," with such a gentle tone, could only be Ning Fengzhi. Sword Douluo silently accompanied him in watchful protection.

Ning Fengzhi had been out handling business when he heard of a free healer with a fairy-like beauty in Heaven Dou City. Curiosity led him to check, so he arrived just in time to witness the scene.

A faint smile curved Ning Fengzhi's lips as his gaze rested on Ah Yin with a hint of warmth, intending to recruit her into the clan. Earlier, when Ah Yin was about to fight that young noble, Sword Douluo had sensed her soul power and quietly informed Ning Fengzhi. As for her identity as a soul beast in human form, thanks to the Acacia Vermillion's concealment, Sword Douluo's spiritual strength simply wasn't enough to see through her.

She appeared to be only in her early twenties, perhaps slightly younger than Bibi Dong, yet her soul power was approaching Soul Emperor level. A genius whose looks and talent were no less than Bibi Dong's—a heaven-sent prodigy indeed. He had never heard of such a gifted soul master belonging to any known clan or sect, implying she might be a commoner soul master—something Ning Fengzhi was determined to bring into the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. He hoped that when Sword and Bone Douluo eventually grew old, the clan would have a new pillar to guard it.

Ning Fengzhi smiled. "My lady, with such peerless looks and remarkable talent, once your gifts become known, many more pests like that earl's son will come buzzing around. If you want to practice medicine, perhaps you could try our Qibao Street, where disciples of my clan patrol and maintain order, ensuring you a quiet environment."

Ah Yin's delicate figure trembled at the mention of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. She had heard of them from Tang Hao and Tang Xiao: the second-strongest among the top three sects. Likely this ethereal white-haired elder was one of their Titled Douluo.

Bibi Dong noticed Ah Yin's look of apprehension. "Don't be afraid. My Brother Fengzhi and Sword Uncle are good people. They have no ill intentions. You wouldn't believe how many times I've had to deal with such annoying pests. Wherever I go, I'm showered by leering stares."

Thank goodness that old man couldn't see my true form. That flower must be working.

Ah Yin breathed out in relief, recalling the reason she'd come here. "I'm hardly a genius. People say the greatest genius is Tang Hao of the Clear Sky Clan. I want to break his record."

Bibi Dong wrinkled her nose in disdain. "Pff, him? Just a thirty-year-old Soul Sage. I'll break his record soon enough—but if you want to beat what I'll accomplish, that won't be easy."

"Dong'er, don't get ahead of yourself. You shouldn't forget Tang Hao braved the Slaughter City—practically a living hell." Ning Fengzhi finished speaking, then glanced at Ah Yin, frowning slightly as she began trembling, sorrow etched on her exquisite face.

"All you wanted to learn is already known to you. Time to come with me," said a voice.

In a flash, a figure emerged. Sword Douluo stepped in front of Bibi Dong and Ning Fengzhi, releasing his soul power vigilantly—he sensed a being as strong as himself. "The Pope?"

Seeing who it was, both Sword Douluo and Ning Fengzhi froze. They knew this man perfectly well: Pope Qian Xunji.

Qian Xunji smiled serenely. "Sword Douluo, Sect Master Ning, it has been a while. And Bibi Dong."

Bibi Dong stared at him, her beautiful eyes flashing with dislike. The higher her status grew, the more bootlickers she encountered, and the more she realized how humiliating it had been for Qian Xunji to "sell" her to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.

"Your Holiness, you came to Heaven Dou City because of this young lady?" Ning Fengzhi bowed. Glancing between Qian Xunji and Ah Yin, he had a suspicion.

"A typical genius wouldn't merit leaving the Wuhun Hall. But she happens to be my future 'Pope Consort.'"

"Don't spout nonsense!" Ah Yin's face turned crimson, her pale neck and ears reddening too, heart thudding in her chest, scolding him with a girlish shyness. In the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, she had stubbornly resisted to the death, but now she was more like a bashful young maiden. Part of the reason was discovering the rumors about Tang Hao and Tang Xiao slaughtering soul beasts for soul bones were true—her heart had been shattered. Qian Xunji, stepping in now with bold honesty, felt a bit like seizing the opportunity while she was emotionally vulnerable. It flustered the clueless Ah Yin.

Qian Xunji's statement confirmed Ning Fengzhi's guess. Envy and jealousy stirred in him. Why was Qian Xunji so lucky—another stunning genius had fallen into his lap, and it even looked like she reciprocated somewhat, while Ning Fengzhi's own pursuit of Bibi Dong for so long had produced no effect?

"Miss, don't be fooled!" Bibi Dong suddenly burst out, eyes glaring at Qian Xunji. "Beware of getting sold off!"

"Dong'er, mind your manners!" Ning Fengzhi snapped, hurriedly giving a respectful salute toward the Pope. "Your Holiness, my apologies. We've spoiled Dong'er. She's become willful."

"No matter—she speaks the truth, after all." Qian Xunji clearly had no desire to tangle with Bibi Dong. He took Ah Yin and departed.

Shortly after leaving Heaven Dou City, Ah Yin asked, "That woman, Bibi Dong—she said 'watch out or you'll be sold off.' What did she mean?"

Qian Xunji replied blandly, "She refers to how I traded her away to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan in exchange for their secret art and a few hundred million gold coins a year."

"What?!" Ah Yin gasped. Did that mean once she bore him children, he'd sell her off, or perhaps just raise her until the time was right to harvest her ring and bone?

Qian Xunji gave the back of her head a light smack. "Don't overthink it, stupid grass. If I'd planned that, I wouldn't bother wasting time. The moment I knocked you out, you'd have lost everything."
