Douluo: Qian Xunji's Joyful Life

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Whale Gelatin

Chapter 10: Whale Gelatin

At the entrance, a maid led a little girl inside. The girl had short, light-pink hair styled neatly and prettily, as though it was naturally beautiful. Her skin was very fair and delicate, and her facial features were as cute as a porcelain doll's. Her big, round eyes blinked curiously, clearly intrigued by the grandeur of the Wuhun Palace's architecture.

It was easy to imagine that once grown, this girl would possess devastating beauty.

"Dong'er, come here." Ning Zhiping's face was practically blossoming with joy at the sight of this little girl, who represented a century of security for the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.

"Uncle, who are you? Do I know you?" Bibi Dong asked timidly from where she stood.

Ning Zhiping walked over and gently ruffled her hair. "That's right. From now on, I and Uncle Qi will be your family. You belong to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan."

Moments later, Ning Zhiping took Bibi Dong by the hand. "Your Holiness, I'll be taking this child with me. Three days from now, the commercial streets in Heaven Dou City and five hundred million gold soul coins will be delivered."

Qian Xunji nodded slightly, watching as Ning Zhiping and Qi Jie led Bibi Dong away.

Once they had departed, the two Hall-Guardian Douluo could finally contain themselves no longer. "Your Holiness, how could you make such a foolish decision?"

"Do you understand the significance of a genius with twin martial souls and innate full soul power? In the future, she will at least cultivate to rank 95 Titled Douluo. If she overcomes the backlash from her twin spirits, she might even reach the level of the Second Consecration. With the added advantage of two martial souls' worth of soul rings, it would be extremely difficult for the Second Consecration to defeat her, creating yet another formidable enemy for our Wuhun Hall!"

The two Hall-Guardian Douluo sighed. If word of this got out, the entire world would surely mock Qian Xunji's stupidity. Nobody within the Wuhun Hall would understand him, either.

Qian Xunji did not offer any explanation, nor could he. A so-called "love-obsessed" mindset had plenty of real examples across the continent, but an event like a princess choosing a dimwitted beggar wasn't recorded anywhere in its history.

"I have my reasons for doing this. Time will show whether I'm right or wrong."

Outside Jialing Pass, inside a luxurious carriage headed toward Heaven Dou City, Ning Zhiping had purchased a pile of snacks, treats, and toys for Bibi Dong. She was in a separate compartment, happily playing with them. Raised in a remote mountain area, she was illiterate, and her new hairstyle had been arranged by a sister from the Wuhun Hall after her awakening. She had certainly never seen such fun and tasty things.

In another compartment, Ning Zhiping and Qi Jie were sipping tea and discussing how best to cultivate Bibi Dong in the future.

First was her status. Once they arrived at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, Ning Zhiping would officially adopt her as his foster daughter—the little princess of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. She would be doted on wholeheartedly within the clan, with full cultivation resources, as well as free access to all sorts of precious theoretical texts. Qitian Douluo Qi Jie, a Titled Douluo, would personally guide her. A powerful escort of Soul Douluo, Soul Sage, and Soul Emperor would accompany her to the Star Dou Great Forest to hunt soul rings. Her safety would be paramount.

As they chatted on, the subject turned to Bibi Dong's future marriage prospects.

"Sect Master, Dong'er's talent and looks are truly extraordinary. With our personal tutelage, none of the clan's disciples may be able to match her," Qi Jie said.

They both knew the adage "Those who are not of our clan must think differently." The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan would never let Bibi Dong marry outside, especially not into another large clan, so the best option was to keep her within. A commoner genius might be acceptable, but there was always the risk of him harboring ambitions—perhaps trying to usurp the Ning family and seize the clan's leadership.

If the Ning family's Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda possessed any real battle capability, they would not need to rely on recruiting strong protectors; they would have Titled Douluo born solely of the family itself, much like the Clear Sky and Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clans. Wuhun Hall was much the same: if not for the Angel inheritance and the Qian family's unbroken chain of rank 99 powerhouses, they would likely have renamed themselves the Angel Clan long ago.

Ning Zhiping smiled faintly. "I've already made up my mind about Dong'er's marriage. She's going to be our next Clan Master's wife."

"Our Ning family might lack martial strength, but we excel in intellect. Dong'er's talent surpasses that of the entire continent; no one can match her. We can only try to outwit her," he added.

"That's not a bad plan," Qi Jie said with a chuckle. "Have you decided on which candidate will become the next Clan Master?"

Ning Zhiping, who trusted Qi Jie entirely, did not hide his thoughts. "Fengzhi is quite good—he's gifted, has a temperament similar to mine, and oversees the clan's assigned properties with excellent results. The profits have grown steadily each year."

Qi Jie looked a bit worried. "Fengzhi is indeed promising, but he's already engaged."

Ning Zhiping appeared unconcerned. "When a man possesses strength, having multiple wives and concubines isn't unusual. Dong'er would be his main wife, while the others can only be concubines."

Back at the Wuhun Hall, in the Worship Hall, faint tremors ran through the palace walls as a massive, sacred soul power pulsed within.

"Qian Xunji!"

Qian Daoliu had already heard the news of Qian Xunji handing Bibi Dong over. Doing something so ruinous drove him nearly mad with rage; it made him want to give Qian Xunji a thoroughly "complete childhood."

If the two Hall-Guardian Douluo had foreseen Bibi Dong's future achievements, how could Qian Daoliu not see them? To sell off the next Golden Crocodile Douluo was madness even beyond a donkey's kick to the head. He could already imagine how Tang Chen would mock him for having such a foolish son.

With one powerful step, Qian Daoliu disappeared from inside the hall and reappeared outside, where a Hall-Guardian Douluo stood with cupped fists.

"Where is that brat now?" Qian Daoliu was so furious he had no interest in showing Qian Xunji any courtesy. He was ready to curse him out upon meeting.

"Your Holiness the Pope has already departed for Hanhai City with Elder Yu Xiao," the Hall-Guardian Douluo replied.

Naturally, Qian Xunji knew that once he returned, Qian Daoliu would undoubtedly give him a "complete childhood," so he took off early for Hanhai City. Apart from finding a suitable reason to present Qian Daoliu with information on Sea God Island, he also planned to buy whale gelatin.

At this point in time, soul masters had no inkling of whale gelatin's deeper benefits. They only believed it was good for virility and general health, whereas Qian Xunji clearly understood its true value was on par with some of the extraordinary treasures found within the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.

Whale gelatin provided soul masters with excellent nourishment, strengthening the body's muscles, bones, and meridians. It increased one's tolerance thresholds and made it easier to absorb higher-age soul rings, thus elevating a soul master's overall prowess.
