Chapter 66: Chapter 66 – Shock
"Perfect. I've been curious to see how powerful these really are."
The four of them stepped into the courtyard. This area was under Ning Fengzhi's personal order, so no other members of the clan dared to enter without permission.
Ning Fengzhi looked at his daughter. "Rongrong, how do you want to test it?"
Ning Rongrong narrowed her eyes, glancing between Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo before settling her gaze on Sword Douluo. "Grandpa Sword, why don't I test it on you? You're so strong, there's no way you'd get hurt, right?"
Sword Douluo chuckled. "Alright, but go easy on your old grandpa. My old bones might not be able to take it."
Ning Rongrong walked to the side. Her Spirit Power flared as she pulled a Zhuge Divine Crossbow from her soul tool storage. In her other hand, a Spirit Power Grenade was already tightly gripped.
When Lin Jie had given her the grenades, he'd told her that combining them with Tang San's hidden weapons could produce optimal results. She looked at Sword Douluo and called out, "Get ready, Grandpa Sword! I'm starting!"
Sword Douluo stood calmly with his hands behind his back, unshaken.
Rongrong quickly loaded the crossbow and activated its trigger. Her left hand flicked, and three black projectiles flew out in a triangular formation—Silent Sleeve Darts aimed right at Sword Douluo.
"Good!" Sword Douluo's eyes flashed. The darts curved midair as if meeting invisible resistance, and in the next instant, they fell harmlessly to the ground like twisted scrap.
But right after the darts dropped, sixteen bolts launched from the Zhuge Divine Crossbow at lightning speed, targeting Sword Douluo directly.
As the final volley was fired, Rongrong's soul tool flashed again—the crossbow was retracted. In her hands appeared three first-generation Spirit Power Grenades. She quickly pulled the pins, retreated a few meters, and hurled them one after another at Sword Douluo, perfectly timed.
Seeing the bolts coming, Sword Douluo's expression finally shifted slightly. His years of battle experience told him instantly that these weren't ordinary projectiles.
He raised two fingers in a sword stance and waved his hand. White flashes of sword energy flew from his fingertips, clang, clang, clang—cutting down every bolt midair. But then, three iron spheres were flying straight toward him.
Sword Douluo narrowed his eyes. Rongrong had called them Spirit Power Grenades, but he couldn't discern their danger at a glance. Given the bolts' force, he assumed the grenades were similar in level and casually sent out a few more sword energies to intercept.
Rongrong, meanwhile, had retreated over ten meters away. She trusted in Grandpa Sword's strength, but even she hadn't dared use a first-generation grenade. No—these were second-generation models.
Lin Jie had told her the second-generation grenades were much more powerful. She hadn't tested them herself yet, but figured Sword Douluo could handle them.
If Lin Jie were here, he'd probably explode in exasperation: Rongrong, are you insane? I used these on spirit beasts, and you're using them to test on a Title Douluo?!
Indeed, Lin Jie's second-generation grenades weren't just enhanced in raw power. Upon explosion, their cores would eject dozens of razor-sharp shards in every direction at extreme velocity. Lin Jie had once taken down a ten-thousand-year spirit beast with a single grenade—and not just any spirit beast, either.
If Sword Douluo underestimated them, the outcome might not be so simple.
Bone Douluo, watching from the side, was also puzzled. He could gauge the power of the bolts just fine—but those three iron balls? He couldn't detect anything unusual about them.
When the grenades were within three meters of Sword Douluo, his sword energies struck all three at once.
Had he only struck one, the explosion would've triggered a chain reaction. But hitting all three simultaneously? That created a compounded blast—far beyond simple addition.
"Not good!" Both Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo, keenly attuned to energy fluctuations, turned pale.
Sword Douluo was far too close. There was no time to dodge.
He immediately shouted, "Second Spirit Ability—Spiritual Sword Guard!"
A powerful field of sword energy burst out from him, forming a dome of shimmering defense two meters in radius. The more Spirit Power he poured into it, the denser the barrier became.
Ning Fengzhi and Bone Douluo were just under twenty meters away. Rongrong, however, had already retreated beyond that range. Bone Douluo still felt it was too risky. Grabbing Ning Fengzhi, he flashed beside Rongrong and pulled her even farther back.
With a flick of his sleeve, he cast a Spirit Power barrier around both of them.
BOOM—BOOM—BOOM!
Three deafening explosions detonated simultaneously in front of Sword Douluo. From the blast center, countless shrapnel-like fragments shot out in all directions. Within a fifteen-meter radius, metal spikes rained to the ground like a hailstorm.
If one looked closely, they'd see that the dome of sword energy surrounding Sword Douluo had actually cracked slightly.
Ning Rongrong stared wide-eyed at the blast zone, her face filled with worry. "Grandpa Sword…"
Even Ning Fengzhi, confident in Sword Douluo's strength, was startled. The grenades' power had far exceeded expectations.
When the dust finally settled, Sword Douluo stood unharmed in the blast's heart.
Rongrong let out a huge sigh of relief.
Ning Fengzhi, too, relaxed. He had trusted in Sword Douluo's strength, but that explosion… if Sword Douluo hadn't reacted in time...
Sword Douluo walked back toward them, his voice still a bit shaky. "Rongrong, those things of yours really pack a punch. I thought my bones were going to fall apart!"
Though he was uninjured, his white robe had several visible tears—something that drew Ning Fengzhi's eye instantly.
His expression hardened. "Rongrong… What exactly did you just throw at your Sword Grandpa?!"
Seeing her father scold her, Rongrong's eyes misted up. Thinking back to the second-gen grenade's power, she quickly turned to Sword Douluo and apologized, "Grandpa Sword, I'm sorry… I didn't know it would be that strong…"
The three elders were stunned. This little troublemaker actually apologized of her own accord? That was rare.
Sword Douluo waved it off with a chuckle. "It's alright. I'm not hurt, am I?"
Then he glanced at Bone Douluo and Ning Fengzhi. All three exchanged meaningful looks.
That grenade… it had forced a Title Douluo to activate a Spirit Ability—and not just any one, but his second.
Its power was terrifying.
And those hidden weapons? Remarkably lethal as well.
Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan was a support-focused sect. But if every disciple were equipped with such tools…
Their overall combat strength would rise dramatically.
