Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Manifesting Spiritual Power
"This is really strange. I was watching from the spectator stands and I could clearly see it—Lin Jie seemed to be completely immune to your fire-attribute attack, Huo Wu," Feng Xiaotian said, breaking the silence.
As the tactical leader of Blazing Academy, Huo Wu was no fool. Hearing Feng Xiaotian's comment, her eyes lit up with sudden realization.
"Fire immunity," she murmured in shock.
"What? Huo Wu, did you just say fire immunity?" Huo Wushuang asked, clearly baffled.
"That's right. I admit Lin Jie's strength is impressive, but that attack was a full-force strike, combining the spirit power of three people. Even if he's powerful, there's no way he could have taken it without a scratch—unless he's immune to fire." Huo Wu's voice was calm but firm.
"But I've never heard of anyone who could actually be immune to fire," Huo Wushuang said with a frown.
"I haven't either. It's just a guess for now—I can't confirm it," Huo Wu replied with a sigh.
"Could it be his fourth spirit ability?" Feng Xiaotian chimed in.
The moment those words left his mouth, the expressions of the Blazing Academy team shifted. They realized—throughout the entire match—they had never once seen Lin Jie use his fourth spirit ability.
"Huo Wu, don't worry. If I run into him in the next round, I'll get revenge for you. I'll defeat him!" Feng Xiaotian declared loudly and proudly.
Huo Wu hesitated, about to say something, then fell silent.
She knew Feng Xiaotian had always liked her. And when he said he'd fight for her, something stirred in her heart. But the image of Lin Jie—always with that calm, faint smile—flashed in her mind. For some reason, she couldn't say the words that had come to her.
She had always grown up adored and protected, excelling in everything. At only nineteen years old, she had already reached the Spirit Ancestor level—unprecedented even among the five elemental academies. She was proud, rightfully so. But today, Lin Jie had crushed that pride. Still, her pride wouldn't allow someone else to avenge her. If she couldn't defeat him with her own hands, that pride would never be restored.
I will defeat him myself, she vowed in her heart.
"Maybe," Huo Wu said at last. Then, without waiting for the others, she turned and walked out of the lounge.
Watching her leave, Feng Xiaotian clenched his fists.
As long as I defeat Shrek Academy—and Lin Jie—Huo Wu will surely see me in a new light... and then...
Feng Xiaotian's thoughts spiraled into a fantasy.
"Xiaotian-ge, you're amazing!"
"Xiaotian-ge, won't you let me be your girlfriend?"
"Heh heh..."
His eyes curved into a crescent moon, and a strange grin crept onto his face.
"Hey, the captain's smiling."
"Why does it look... oddly pure yet unsettling?"
"Agreed."
"Agreed."
Watching Feng Xiaotian grinning in his own little world, the rest of the Divine Wind Academy team couldn't help but comment.
Huo Wushuang massaged his temples with a sigh. He had long known Feng Xiaotian's relentless pursuit of his sister, and honestly, he found it exhausting. Always hanging around when he had free time... though he didn't dislike Feng Xiaotian, he also knew that Huo Wu was growing increasingly irritated by his persistence. Glancing at the strange expression on Feng Xiaotian's face, he simply shook his head and walked out.
Seeing this, Huo Yun and the others exchanged glances, then also shook their heads in sync and followed Huo Wushuang out the door.
Shrek Academy's team had no idea what was happening between Blazing and Divine Wind. After changing out of their uniforms, they returned together to the academy.
"Lin Jie, how did you do that back there?" Xiao Wu finally asked.
The others looked over curiously as well. Huo Wu's fourth spirit ability was no joke. Even with a defensive spirit ability, no one should've walked away entirely unharmed.
"That?" Lin Jie chuckled. "I'm immune to fire. Simple as that."
"Fire immunity?!" everyone exclaimed in shock.
"Yep. That's why their fire attacks couldn't hurt me." Lin Jie nodded.
"Is that... even possible?" Oscar blinked in disbelief.
Tang San, hearing this, gave Lin Jie a long, thoughtful look.
Back at the academy, Flender and Liu Erlong were already waiting.
"Hahaha! You little monsters are something else! Eleven straight wins now! Keep it up—our goal is the championship!" Flender laughed heartily. This was the happiest he'd been in years. The academy's name was booming, more students were enrolling, and the money was rolling in.
"Don't worry, Dean. We'll give it everything we've got," Dai Mubai promised with confidence.
"Good! That's what I like to hear. Now go rest. Prepare well for tomorrow's match."
"Yes, Dean!" the team replied in unison.
"Tang San, come with me for a moment," Grandmaster said.
"Yes, Teacher." Tang San nodded and followed him.
Everyone was used to this by now. Tang San was Grandmaster's direct disciple, while the rest were just students. Naturally, the treatment was different.
Back in his room, Lin Jie chatted briefly with Liu Erlong and the others before heading to bed to cultivate.
Over the past ten days, thanks to the pink energy within him, which drew in the early morning Purple Qi from the sun, his Purple Demon Eye had advanced rapidly. With each day, his spiritual power grew, refined by the sheer amount of Purple Qi. At this point, even Lin Jie wasn't sure how strong his spiritual power had become.
A few days ago, his Purple Demon Eye had already reached the Microscopic level. He was now working on pushing it even further.
Spiritual power was normally formless and intangible. While Lin Jie had immense spiritual energy, he lacked a method to channel it into an attack.
That changed when he learned a simple mental strike technique during his cultivation—compressing spiritual power and launching it directly at an opponent. It was highly effective, especially against those weaker than him. But against stronger enemies? Not so much.
So Lin Jie had another idea: What if I compressed my spiritual power into a tangible form?
He experimented constantly. And just yesterday, he succeeded in condensing his spiritual power into a thin line.
That was huge progress. Turning the formless into form—spiritual power made visible. That thin thread was proof of his breakthrough.
Now, seated cross-legged on his bed, Lin Jie stared at the result of his refinement: a fine, milky-white silver needle floating before him.
Opening his eyes, he couldn't hide his excitement.
"I did it! Just as I thought!" he murmured.
He reached out and let the tiny silver needle hover above his palm. With a single finger, he spun it in the air—faster and faster until it was a blur.
"Go," he whispered.
The silver needle shot through the air like a bolt of lightning.
"Stop."
Instantly, the needle froze in midair.
"Return."
With a flash, it zoomed back into his hand.
"I still need more practice. The speed can be improved."
He had spent nearly a full day condensing this single needle from spiritual thread. It was slow now, but once he became proficient, he believed he could create one in an instant.
Spiritual power was already dangerous when used in invisible strikes—capable of destroying someone's mind or turning them into a vegetable. But now, condensed into a needle, it became a weapon far more deadly.
He couldn't wait to see who would be the first unlucky soul to test it.
Afterward, Lin Jie reabsorbed the needle, letting it dissolve back into his spiritual sea, where it returned to being formless and unseen.
Time passed as he continued refining and perfecting his control over the Spiritual Condensation Needle technique.
