Chapter 40: Ning Rongrong
Seeing Yu Xiaogang run away while shouting, Flender felt deeply disappointed and wondered why Erlong loved him.
Tang San, witnessing this, immediately chased after him.
The others looked at Yu Xiaogang with disgust. He was so weak, yet pretended to be an expert.
Flender, seeing their expressions, said, "Your training starts tomorrow. Be prepared." Then he left hurriedly.
All the teachers followed, not wanting to face further embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Mubai, Fatty, and Oscar looked at each other in confusion.
Rongrong and Zhuqing, however, were staring at Xiao Wu, clearly curious about the black soul ring.
After the teachers left, Rongrong walked toward Xiao Wu, thinking that if she could bring this secret back to her sect, she would be praised by her father and grandfathers. She stood in front of Xiao Wu and asked with a smile:
"Xiao Wu, I want to buy your method for absorbing soul rings beyond your level for 100,000 gold coins."
As she said this, she had already extended her card toward Xiao Wu, fully expecting her to accept the offer after seeing the money.
Xiao Wu blinked, caught off guard by Ning Rongrong's sudden proposal.
Zhu Zhuqing narrowed her eyes slightly but remained silent.
Oscar scratched his head awkwardly, glancing between them.
Ma Hongjun muttered under his breath, "Did she really just try to buy a soul ring method?"
Dai Mubai stayed silent, arms crossed, observing the scene unfold.
"You think this is something you can buy?" Xiao Wu asked, visibly angry.
This was her brother's secret.
He trusted her with his method, And now Rongrong wanted to buy it with money?
She was furious.
Rongrong didn't notice anything unusual. She simply assumed the price was too low and continued.
"Is it too little? Then tell me how much you want. I have plenty of money."
Xiao Wu's expression turned colder.
"Rongrong, not everything can be bought with money."
Rongrong was confused by her anger.
Wu Lan, observing her confusion, wasn't surprised. She hadn't been humbled by Mubai's punch like in the original timeline. She still hadn't changed.
If someone had asked her father the same question, Ning Fengzhi would immediately think about how to kill that person without consequences.
How could a support-type sect rise to such power without threats and bloodshed? He merely appeared saintly to the world but did things behind the scenes.
With two Title Douluo supporting them, few dared to offend them.
Then Rongrong said something that sounded generous:
"But if it's something that helps people grow stronger, shouldn't it be shared? I can pay. I'm not asking for it for free." Her voice carried no malice. In her mind, she thought she was making a noble sacrifice, paying money to benefit others.
Hearing this, Xiao Wu finally lost it. She couldn't believe how her brain worked.
Traveling with her brother had taught her how the world truly operated.
He had told her that every clan had its own secret techniques. If such secrets were leaked, the clan would hunt down and kill whoever was responsible.
She understood how serious it was. But seeing Rongrong so naïve, she didn't even know how to respond.
Wu Lan, seeing the situation, stepped forward and clapped with a half-smile.
"Nice words, Rongrong. You're a good person," he said, standing beside Xiao Wu. Then he continued:
"After hearing your generous words, I'm very curious about your great deeds. So tell us, how many people outside your clan know the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's secret techniques?"
Rongrong was stunned for a second.
Then she smiled proudly, completely misunderstanding Wu Lan's tone.
"Of course not. Our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's techniques are only passed down to direct descendants. Outsiders can't learn them even if they want to," she said with pride.
"Oh, I thought you'd be willing to share your clan's secrets to help everyone grow stronger," Wu Lan replied sarcastically.
Everyone except Rongrong realized he was playing her.
Ning Rongrong blinked, finally sensing something was off, but still tried to stand her ground.
"That's different," she replied. "Our techniques are special support skills. It's not the same as a soul ring absorption method."
Wu Lan gave a mocking smile.
"Different, huh? So it's okay for you to keep secrets, but not others?"
Rongrong frowned. "But I offered to pay for the technique."
"So if someone offered you a million gold coins for your clan's core techniques, would you sell them?"
Rongrong's eyes widened. "Of course not! My father would..."
She paused, finally catching herself.
Wu Lan raised an eyebrow. "He would what? Kill them? Destroy their family? Or maybe just make them disappear quietly?"
Then Wu Lan put on a surprised expression and said mockingly:
"But if it's something that helps people grow stronger, shouldn't it be shared?"
Hearing her own words thrown back at her felt like a slap in the face.
"I..." Rongrong's voice caught in her throat. Her face turned red, not with anger, but with embarrassment.
Fatty quietly moved behind Dai Mubai and whispered, "She really dug her own hole."
Mubai grunted. "She still thinks she's back home, where her words are law."
Wu Lan, seeing that she had finally gone quiet, turned to Xiao Wu. Seeing her satisfied expression, he said:
"Rabbit, let's go."
Xiao Wu, overjoyed that her brother had shut Rongrong up with her own words, took his hand and said:
"Okay, brother."
They walked off toward the dormitory, leaving everyone behind, all looking at Rongrong like she was a clown.
Zhu Zhuqing watched them leave. After a moment of thought, she finally made up her mind and followed them.
Wu Lan saw her coming and stopped, waiting. Xiao Wu also turned to look at her.
"I want to talk to you," Zhuqing said as she approached.
Wu Lan immediately guessed the topic and nodded.
After bringing them to his dormitory, Wu Lan and Xiao Wu turned to face Zhuqing. Wu Lan, sensing her thoughts, asked:
"Do you also want the method to absorb soul rings beyond your current level?"
