Chapter 17: Soul Rings
The next day, after finishing their training, Wu Lan and Xiao Wu did not go to the stall.
Today was special.
Xiao Wu was going to condense her soul ring.
"Rabbit, does your cultivation before transforming help with soul ring condensation?" Wu Lan asked curiously.
"Yes! You're smart, brother," Xiao Wu answered with a smile.
Wu Lan's eyes lit up. "Rabbit, are the soul rings fixed?"
Xiao Wu shook her head. "Brother, I follow a feeling while condensing the ring. If I follow that feeling, the ring's path will match my mother's."
Wu Lan thought deeply. "Then see if you can control it."
He paused for a moment, then added firmly, "If you can control it, try to get attribute enhancement. With the Xuan Tian Record, you don't need any fancy moves."
Then, with a possessive gaze, he said, "Also, you're not allowed to use your Soft Bone skills on any man but me. Understand?"
Xiao Wu blushed deeply at his dominance and nodded shyly.
"Good. That's my rabbit." Wu Lan smiled with satisfaction and patted her head.
Xiao Wu's blush deepened even more. She lowered her face, but she didn't deny his claim.
Suddenly, Wu Lan's Martial Spirit appeared and squeezed between them like a jealous woman.
Wu Lan gave it a little attention, and it rubbed against him happily.
Xiao Wu stared at the orchid with annoyed eyes.
"Alright, rabbit. Start condensing the soul ring. I'll guard you," Wu Lan chuckled at their antics and spoke gently.
"Okay, brother," Xiao Wu replied. She sat cross-legged and began the process. Wu Lan and the orchid watched her closely.
From within her body, a soft pulse of pink emerged. A glowing ring began to form, not hunted, but born.
Xiao Wu was sweating as she tried to control the power and steer the ability she would gain.
Six hours passed.
The light around her faded, and a yellow soul ring appeared beneath her feet.
Xiao Wu slowly opened her eyes, then rushed straight into Wu Lan's arms.
Wu Lan embraced her tightly.
"Brother, I did it!" she said excitedly. "I controlled my soul ring ability!"
"Very good. You worked hard," Wu Lan praised her sincerely, patting her back.
Xiao Wu felt warm, safe, and incredibly happy in Wu Lan's arms.
She wished she could stay there forever.
Their sweet moment was ruined once again by the jealous orchid.
Xiao Wu wanted to punch it, but the orchid sensed her anger and quickly hid behind Wu Lan.
Wu Lan laughed heartily at their silly behavior.
Once they calmed down, Wu Lan asked, "Rabbit, what's your soul ring ability?"
Xiao Wu puffed her chest proudly. "All my attributes increased by 30%."
Wu Lan was genuinely happy for her and praised her again, which made Xiao Wu even more joyful.
"I wish I could also produce soul rings..." Wu Lan said with a hint of envy.
At that moment, his Martial Spirit floated in front of him and seemed to want to speak.
Wu Lan looked at it carefully and suddenly understood.
The orchid had learned from Xiao Wu and realized that it could also condense its own soul rings, but it would require a large amount of energy.
Wu Lan was thrilled.
He laughed uncontrollably.
If his Martial Spirit could produce its own soul rings, it meant he would gain complete control over both the ring and the Martial Spirit itself. Unlike hunted soul rings, which often came with resentment from the beast, these would be pure and obedient.
Seeing Wu Lan so happy, Xiao Wu asked curiously, "Brother, what made you so happy?"
"Rabbit, Orchid said it can condense its own soul rings!" Wu Lan explained excitedly.
Xiao Wu looked at the orchid with suspicion. "Brother... is that really possible?"
Wu Lan replied, "It said it needs a lot of soul power." The orchid nodded to confirm.
Luckily, Wu Lan didn't lack soul power, not with the 'payments' he had been collecting. He could definitely create a powerful soul ring with attribute enhancements.
As the excitement faded, they noticed how late it was.
They returned to their rooms to sleep.
But as Wu Lan lay down, his Martial Spirit twitched.
Someone was approaching.
Using Blue Silver Sense, Wu Lan detected a figure rushing toward their house.
He immediately recognized the presence.
It was someone very familiar.
Why is he coming here?
I haven't done anything to Tang San. He wouldn't come to harm me, would he?
Maybe he just wants to ask about Tang San.
"Wu Lan, come out."
While Wu Lan was still deep in thought, Tang Hao's voice echoed from outside.
Wu Lan walked out calmly.
"Uncle, when did you arrive? Come in, let's talk inside," Wu Lan greeted him with a gentle smile.
"No," Tang Hao refused firmly. "I came to talk about Tang San. Do you know what happened?"
"Yes, Uncle. I heard about it. Yesterday, everyone found out the truth. A boss came and revealed that Grandmaster asked Tang San to pay 20,000 gold coins to become his disciple. So Tang San borrowed the money from him, using himself as a guarantee."
Wu Lan's tone was innocent, like a bystander simply explaining what he heard.
Tang Hao stayed silent, listening.
"Don't worry, Uncle. That Grandmaster gave the boss something and the boss left with a happy face. You should talk to Tang San. Maybe it's best to keep him away from that Grandmaster. He doesn't seem like a good person," Wu Lan added, as though he were trying to protect Tang San.
To break the silence, Wu Lan asked softly, "Uncle, do you need any healing?"
Tang Hao, lost in thought, nodded.
Wu Lan's heart leapt with joy.
Another reward!
He suppressed his excitement and activated his Martial Spirit in its old appearance to avoid suspicion.
He began healing.
[Healing in progress...]
[Payment detected: Trace of Tang Hao's soul power]
[Would you like to absorb it?]
Wu Lan mentally confirmed.
He was ecstatic. This was exactly the kind of power he needed, especially now that Orchid could condense its own soul rings.
Tang Hao immediately felt the difference. Wu Lan's healing was stronger than ever.
"You've improved, Wu Lan," Tang Hao praised sincerely.
"Thank you, Uncle. If you ever get injured again, come to me, I'll heal you anytime," Wu Lan said with a warm smile.
"I will. Just… don't tell Tang San that I came here," Tang Hao said as he turned and left.
Wu Lan watched him go, then returned to bed, grateful to Tang Hao for his unexpected 'gift.'
