Douluo Dalu(Soul Land): My System Is Dissatisfied

Chapter 316: Chapter 316

In a dense forest, a stream gurgled softly. Beside the flowing water, two people sat while another lay unconscious nearby. There were two men and one woman.

Of the two men, one was old and the other young. The old man appeared seasoned yet full of vitality, exuding such energy that he looked like he could finish off an entire sheep in one meal. Lying next to him was a young man, seemingly around twenty years old.

"He's awake," the old man said.

At those words, the girl beside him stood and walked over to the young man on the ground.

The unconscious man slowly opened his eyes, his gaze flickering between the two people around him. His eyes were filled with confusion.

"Who are you? Where am I?"

The old man stroked his beard, a hint of pride in his tone as he answered, "I am Ge Ye, deacon of the Yunlan Sect. This is our young Sect Master, Nalan Yanran."

"Yunlan Sect? Nalan Yanran?" the young man repeated in a daze. His eyes shifted to the girl standing nearby.

She had a cold and reserved expression. Her beauty rivaled that of a green lotus, much like Xiao Xun'er—noble, elegant, and untouchable. She wore a moon-white spirit robe that traced her slim, graceful figure. A jade pendant hung from her ear, emitting a crisp chime each time it swayed.

"...Am I here to fight?" the young man blurted out.

Ge Ye raised an eyebrow. "This isn't Doupo. We're outside Wutan City, at Luofeng Slope."

"Wutan City..." the young man muttered. He continued to study Nalan Yanran, a memory suddenly surfacing.

Nalan Yanran—he remembered her from Wutan City. She came there to annul her engagement with Xiao Yan, a traveler from that city. But had she already done that?

"Have you been to Wutan City?" he asked.

"Not yet," Ge Ye replied calmly.

Nalan Yanran noticed the way the young man was staring at her and frowned. She instinctively labeled him a presumptuous fool.

"Then you're going to..."

"Wutan City," Ge Ye answered simply. Then he narrowed his eyes. "What's your name? And why did you fall from the sky?"

Fall from the sky—from a height of 10,000 meters, no less—and survive without a scratch? Ge Ye had never heard of anything like it. On top of that, a strange ball of energy inside the young man's body was obstructing Ge Ye's ability to assess his spirit level. Based on deduction alone, he guessed the young man was at least at the Spirit King realm—perhaps even newly advanced.

"...Ye Feng," the young man finally replied.

"Ye Feng?" Ge Ye repeated the name curiously.

"Leaf, as in tree leaf. Feng, as in mountain peak. Together—Leaf Peak."

"Ye Feng..." Ge Ye echoed again.

Anyone who reached the Spirit King realm would be a renowned figure in the Jia Ma Empire. Among the top ten powerhouses, several were Spirit Kings. And yet, Ge Ye had never heard of Ye Feng before. Suspicious, he thought the boy might be hiding his true identity.

"Why did you fall from the sky? What sect are you from?" Ge Ye asked again.

"Did you save me?" Ye Feng deflected, avoiding the question.

"It was our young Sect Master who saved you," Ge Ye replied patiently. "When she saw you fall from the sky, you were surrounded by jackals. She drove them off."

"...Oh," Ye Feng murmured, casting a glance at Nalan Yanran. Did that mean he owed her his life?

He tried to sit up, but pain shot through his body. Even that small effort caused him to wince.

Ge Ye noticed and smiled. "Brother Ye Feng, you're badly injured. Don't push yourself. The young Sect Master already sent Liu Ling to a nearby village to hire a carriage."

"Mm." Ye Feng nodded.

At that moment, the lowing of cattle came from across the stream. A farmer and a young man approached, driving an ox cart.

"An ox cart?" Nalan Yanran frowned.

"Liu Ling," Ge Ye called out, "didn't the young Sect Master ask you to hire a proper carriage? What's with this ox cart for goods?"

"There wasn't much choice," the young man in a moon-white robe replied. "The nearest city is Wutan. It'd take a full day to go back and forth. This ox cart was the best I could find nearby."

"Liu Ling..." Ye Feng muttered. He suddenly recalled the name.

Liu Ling—he was a disciple of Dan King Gu He. During the Jia .a Empire's Alchemist Guild competition, he was defeated by Xiao Yan. But more importantly—he was an alchemist.

Ye Feng, who had come from the Douluo Continent, knew nothing about refining medicine.

He smiled bitterly and sighed to himself.

"I really envy Liu Ling. He's already an alchemist at his age. Meanwhile, I can only fight… That's all I'm good at."

Ding!

"System detected envy from host regarding Liu Ling's alchemy talent. Host feels inferior for being only a fighter. As the host of this system, your attitude is unacceptable. The system is now bestowing five major professions: Alchemist, Array Master, Talisman Master, Tomb Raider, and Weapon Refiner."

Ye Feng's eyes lit up.

"Alchemist… Array Master… Talisman Master… Tomb Raider… Weapon Refiner?"

He had only expected to gain alchemy skills, but to be granted four more top-tier professions at once—each at the pinnacle level? That was a shock.

His mind was suddenly flooded with countless techniques in alchemy, array formation, talisman crafting, tomb exploration, and weapon refinement. Every technique, every skill, now belonged to him.

"Brother Ye Feng," Ge Ye called politely. Despite suspecting Ye Feng was stronger than he let on, he still chose to show respect. He gestured toward the ox cart, looking a little awkward. "It's not much... just a farmer's flat cart pulled by a single ox. But it's all we could get..."
