Chapter 201: The Fall of the Clear Sky Clan, Another Betrayal
In the center of Spirit Hall, the bronze doors of the Pope's Palace slowly swung open, and a tall, powerfully built figure stepped inside.
This man stood well over two meters tall, broad-shouldered and muscular, with black hair and eyes, a righteous and resolute expression, and a calm smile at the corner of his mouth. Yet despite his imposing appearance, he seemed like an ordinary man, with no trace of soul power emanating from him.
"Your Holiness, it's been a long time."
Bibi Dong set down the fragrant tea in her hand and asked softly, "Aren't you supposed to be assisting the new emperor of the Heaven Dou Empire? What brings you to my Pope's Palace?"
Behind Bibi Dong, Hu Liena paused from reading her documents, her expression flickering. They had just escaped the Slaughter City, and she hadn't yet decided how to tell her teacher what Yu Tianming had said on the throne of the Death God. And now he was here in front of them. Was this part of some plot to overthrow Spirit Hall?
Yu Tianming cast a glance at Hu Liena and strolled casually up to Bibi Dong's side, saying in a low voice, "Your Holiness, you should already know why I've come. Didn't Xue'er tell you?"
Xue'er? That name rang vaguely familiar to Hu Liena, raising her guard. Who was this Xue'er? Could she be that traitor from within Spirit Hall colluding with Yu Tianming? Why did that name sound so familiar? Had she met her before? After being appointed as Spirit Hall's Holy Maiden, she had handled countless documents and accompanied Bibi Dong in managing Spirit Hall affairs, yet she had never heard of anyone called Xue'er. A sense of unease began to rise in her heart.
Unlike the anxious Hu Liena, Bibi Dong fell silent the moment she heard her daughter's name.
Back when she had been locked away in Qian Xunji's secret chamber, her heart had been consumed by pain. Though she had eventually managed to kill the seriously injured Qian Xunji, the mere existence of Yu Xiaogang was a constant reminder of the darkness she had once endured. As time passed, Yu Xiaogang's place in her heart grew more significant by the day, and Bibi Dong sank deeper into the role of a woman scorned.
It wasn't until Yu Xiaogang's recent death that she was shocked into realizing that twenty years had already passed. Her daughter was now in her twenties and about to ascend to godhood. Those who had once harmed her were already dead and buried, and the powerless girl of the past had become the all-powerful Pope. Now that she had everything, what was left to hate?
With this shift in perspective, her feelings toward Qian Renxue became more conflicted. After a long silence, she finally said slowly, "I know. The Clear Sky Clan is the only remaining force powerful enough to pose a threat to the unification of the continent. But in Spirit Hall, I—this Pope—cannot make decisions on my own. Grand Worship Qian Daoliu controls the Worship Hall and commands most of the titled Douluo. If he doesn't approve, I cannot launch an attack on the Clear Sky Clan."
"I heard that the two peaks of the soul master world, Qian Daoliu and Tang Chen, once fought a climactic battle outside Heaven Dou City. Afterward, they agreed that unless Qian Daoliu could defeat Tang Chen, Spirit Hall's forces would never set foot on that mountain again. Now that Tang Chen has died by my hand, Qian Daoliu will never surpass him. Does their agreement still hold any weight?"
Bibi Dong shook her head and gently stroked her youthful face, sighing, "Qian Daoliu is far more stubborn than you think. Since Tang Chen is already dead, he will never allow Spirit Hall to set foot on that mountain."
"In that case, position the troops you sent as part of the Heaven Dou Empire's military. During the attack on the Clear Sky Clan, they'll be the royal family's private soldiers. Once the clan is wiped out, they can rejoin Spirit Hall." Yu Tianming interrupted before Bibi Dong could reply and continued, "If Qian Daoliu refuses, I'll convince him myself."
Qian Daoliu—an ultimate Douluo at level 99, High Priest of the Angel God—was not someone whose mind could be easily changed. But hearing those words from Yu Tianming's mouth, Bibi Dong couldn't help but believe them. Until she completed the trial of the Rakshasa God, Yu Tianming, already a god himself, was the strongest being in the world. No matter how stubborn Qian Daoliu was, even he might be swayed by his divine grandson-in-law.
Seeing the flicker in her expression, Yu Tianming chuckled lightly, "I'll dispatch Poison Douluo, Bone Douluo of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan, and several Soul Saints. How many will your Holiness send to join the Heaven Dou Empire?"
"Fifteen thousand soul masters with three rings or more, and six elders above the rank of Titled Douluo," Bibi Dong made a decisive move, setting down her cup. Her voice turned cold. "The Clear Sky Clan, once the strongest sect, has deep foundations. I will personally lead this operation."
"Teacher, although the Clear Sky Clan has been hidden for many years and we don't know their exact strength, with so many elders involved, could anything still go wrong? As the Pope, would personally leading the destruction of the Clear Sky Clan reflect poorly on your image if word got out?"
Bibi Dong slowly stood and began pacing the grand hall, her eyes flickering with sharp light. She had not forgotten how years ago, Qian Xunji had led two Titled Douluo to capture Ah Yin, only for all three to be nearly annihilated by a berserk Tang Hao. Qian Xunji had barely escaped with his life.
"Nana, you don't understand. As an ancient clan, the Clear Sky Clan has countless secret techniques and hidden trump cards. If we underestimate them, we will pay dearly!"
"Yes, Master. I understand."
...
The whistling wind accompanied the fall of night, echoing through the desolate mountain valley. Dark clouds spread across the sky like a massive curtain, staining the starlight and plunging the land into complete darkness.
In a small village outside the Clear Sky Clan, a shadowy figure emerged from the darkness and silently snapped the neck of a patrolling disciple. With a dull crack, a young life ended. As that disciple died, soul masters began to emerge from the shadows at the foot of the mountain. A massacre was about to begin in the village…
Once hailed as the number one clan in the world, the Clear Sky Clan had always been arrogant and domineering. Though they were forced into seclusion twenty years ago after being suppressed by Spirit Hall and moved their sect to a remote mountain near Heaven Dou City, decades of peace had dulled their vigilance. They never believed Spirit Hall would attack them again. The village outside their sect lacked any experts capable of alerting them under Ghost Douluo's watch.
"All members, Soul Kings above level 50 will follow me into the Clear Sky Clan. Fighters below level 50, station yourselves along the escape routes. If anyone escapes, fire the signal flare immediately!"
With that command, countless soul masters in black night suits dispersed. Some scaled the steps leading into the Clear Sky Clan, while others grouped in dozens and rushed to block key positions.
The Clear Sky Clan's terrain was exceptionally steep. Built atop a mountain range, its core was constructed at the peak of a massive rock formation. Entering required crossing at least five mountain ridges. The harsh geography made it nearly impenetrable.
But this time, the attackers included nearly ten Titled Douluo and countless Soul Saints and Soul Kings. Such terrain could not slow their advance.
The wind grew louder, as if tearing through the land's silence. The clouds above churned like dragons, threatening to unleash a storm that would drown the world in darkness and chaos.
...
"Shanshan, wake up! The enemy has reached the sect's core!!"
Tang Long's shout startled Tang Shan awake. Rubbing her eyes, she rose in panic. "Wasn't the Clear Sky Clan the strongest sect? How could they breach such a defensible position? What force would dare launch such a large-scale assault on us?"
There was no time to explain.
"The sect leader and elders are fighting with all they've got. The enemy is too strong—we have to leave through the secret passage now!" With his honest face and square jaw, Tang Long grabbed the pajama-clad Tang Shan and dragged her from the room.
Outside, what was once a misty, celestial sanctuary had become a sea of fire. The ruined suspension bridge swayed dangerously in the blaze, crackling as it burned. Smoke billowed, screams echoed, and panic surged to the peak. The once peaceful Clear Sky Clan, dormant for twenty years, was now under attack. The short-tempered soul masters of the clan were too disorganized to resist effectively. In less than fifteen minutes, over half of them were dead or injured. The treacherous terrain that once protected them had become their grave.
Tang Long summoned his Clear Sky Hammer and casually struck down a Spirit Hall soldier. Weaving through broken limbs and terrified survivors, he dragged Tang Shan into a burning house.
His once-small Clear Sky Hammer suddenly expanded. With soul rings flashing beneath his feet, the hammer grew to the size of a grown man and smashed down on the thick granite floor. With a thunderous crack, a hidden black tunnel appeared.
"Shanshan, this is the secret path Father told me about. It leads directly out of Heaven Dou City. Go first—I'll warn the others."
Tang Shan clasped her hands behind her back, sorrow clouding her face. "Brother Long, let's go together. There are so few of us left. If the attackers discover this passage, we'll die here too. We're the most gifted in the sect—if we fall, who will avenge our kin?"
Tang Long turned his back to her, staring at the blazing inferno. His voice was solemn. "I know all this, but the sect raised me. These people are my family—I can't just abandon them. Even if the enemy discovers the passage, I'll do everything I can to save the others. You go. Head for the woods once you exit, and even if they find me, you should be safe..."
Before he could finish, blood dripped from his mouth. Looking down, he saw a purple crystal-like spear had pierced his waist completely. His blood splattered across the floor, turning the room into a scene of blood and fire.
Turning toward the stunningly beautiful Tang Shan, Tang Long asked in confusion, "Why? Why did you attack me? Were you the one who brought them here?"
"I don't know who these attackers are. I killed you because you were in the way. What if I left and they found the passage right after? Brother Tang Long, thanks for everything these past few days, but you stood in the way of my escape. That's a death sentence."
"You… you animal… may you die a miserable death…" Before he could finish, countless branches burst from the Blue Silver Overlord Spear and impaled him. Tang Long left the world without another word.
Without hesitation, Tang Shan leapt into the dark tunnel.
As her figure vanished, a red glow lit the small house. BOOM— With a deafening explosion, the stone house collapsed into rubble, sealing the passage completely.
Above the skies, Bibi Dong's spider scythe, laced with dark light, drew a graceful arc through the air. The head of Tang Xiao, the Clear Sky Clan's sect leader, fell from his shoulders.
Her six purple wings flapped behind her. Holding his head, Bibi Dong hovered silently in the air and sighed softly. "So this Clear Sky Clan leader didn't know the legendary Vast Sea Hammer. His strength in battle was far inferior to Tang Hao..."
She turned toward the stunning woman with flaming wings nearby and said sternly, "Falcon Douluo, you must have sensed it too. One little mouse got away. You're the fastest flying Douluo here—go catch them."
"Yes, Your Holiness."
...
In the dark forest, the wind howled, carrying a biting chill.
Suddenly, rain began to fall on Tang Shan's head as she fled. Within minutes, it turned into a torrential downpour, drenching the forest into a vast swamp. Amidst the storm's roar, lightning flashed, momentarily illuminating the murky world.
In the harsh lightning, Tang Shan's pale clothing made her stand out in the forest.
After running for half an hour, her nerves stretched thin, she spotted a hole barely higher than her knee at the foot of a mountain. Without hesitation, she slipped inside.
