Chapter 157: Tang San’s Nightmare, Xiao Wu’s Plea
As time passed bit by bit, Tang San gradually realized that all the sounds on the street around him had vanished. The scenery before his eyes seemed to be covered by a thin veil, becoming blurry and indistinct.
Amid the hazy light and shadow, a thin figure slowly came into focus.
Dressed in white, Shi Nian's eyes were cold and sinister as he said, "Sect Master Hu Yan was right—you truly are a born devil. You even managed to sense the illusion I cast. What a pity... you realized it too late."
"So it's a teacher from Canghui Academy. May I ask why you've stopped me here?" Tang San responded coldly.
This was a seventy-second ranked Soul Sage. Tang San had seen him at the opening ceremony of the tournament, when Ma Hongjun had even mocked him aloud. He hadn't expected to run into him after leaving the arena, and in that moment, Tang San's heart sank.
"It's not a matter of guidance," Shi Nian said, the corners of his mouth curling coldly. "I just need you to disappear. I've been waiting for an opportunity for days—and now, it's finally come."
"You want to kill me?" Tang San's eyes narrowed sharply. He raised his Clear Sky Hammer and shouted, "My father is the Clear Sky Douluo. You better think carefully. If you kill me, you'll never survive in the soul master world!"
Shi Nian's brow twitched slightly, then he laughed, eyes gleaming with murderous light. "A twin martial soul genius? Today just gets more interesting. But I've already made up my mind. Look around—do you really think you're still in the streets of Heaven Dou City?"
The haze suddenly lifted. Tang San's surroundings cleared, and to his shock, he realized he was standing in the wilderness. In the distance, the outer walls of Heaven Dou City loomed faintly behind him.
Reacting swiftly, Tang San immediately fired the installed mechanism of his Godly Zhuge Crossbow—sixteen iron bolts screamed through the air, aiming straight for Shi Nian's chest.
But before he could even react, the bolts vanished without a trace—no blood, no sound, nothing.
Shi Nian's expression turned vicious. "You think I'd let you see me and then spare you? Don't bother struggling. For you, it's already meaningless. One year from today will be your death anniversary."
Tang San didn't reply. He simply sat down cross-legged, surrounding himself with a rotating barrier of Blue Silver Grass.
Shi Nian laughed heartily. "You think that'll block my martial soul? Too naïve. My Remnant Dream soul skill is not so easily resisted. You will perish in pain—pain you inflict on yourself."
As his voice faded, the surroundings blurred again. Tang San's awareness started to fade—without the Autumn Water Dew, he couldn't resist the illusion. His consciousness dimmed.
Inside the illusion, everything shifted.
Suddenly, Tang San found himself standing at the edge of a cliff.
It was Ghost Cliff—the forbidden land of Tang Sect, the place where his past life had ended. A dozen white-clothed figures stood before him. Behind him, clouds and mist blanketed the abyss.
Looking down, he found himself wearing the old Tang Sect uniform. The symbol of "Tang" stood bold on his chest. Was everything on Douluo Continent just a dream? Was he still the disgraced disciple who violated the rules?
He stared blankly at the elders closing in, surrounding him.
"Tang San, you dared to steal the Xuan Tian Secret Record. Your sins are unforgivable."
"Tang San, the Sect raised you and taught you martial arts. How dare you betray us so?"
Voices echoed in his mind. The angry faces of the elders drew closer and closer.
"Please, elders, let me explain!" Tang San cried out.
"There's nothing to explain. You are a traitor to the Tang Sect."
Tears streamed down Tang San's face.
When he wiped his eyes, the elders vanished. In their place stood a girl with long scorpion-braided hair and a lovely, familiar face—Xiao Wu.
But Xiao Wu was being held tightly by a tall man—Yu Tianming.
His thick arms clamped around her waist as she struggled, but to no avail.
"Xiao... Xiao Wu! Yu Tianming, let her go!" Tang San tried to shout, but under the crushing pressure of Yu Tianming's power, his voice turned to incoherent murmurs.
Yu Tianming smirked, tightening his grip on Xiao Wu.
"Brother San, help me! Save me!" Xiao Wu sobbed and fought, but she was powerless.
To Tang San's horror, Yu Tianming began stripping Xiao Wu's clothing. Her jade-like skin was gradually exposed, and his rough hands roamed freely. Tang San could only watch, helpless and despairing.
"No—please!" Tang San wanted to scream, to move, to close his eyes—but none of it worked.
Time blurred. Xiao Wu, limp and tear-streaked, was thrown to the ground before him.
Yu Tianming grabbed her hair and hissed, "You're mine now. Don't speak to Tang San again... or else."
Tears rolled from Xiao Wu's eyes as she reluctantly nodded.
---
Heaven Dou Great Spirit Arena.
While Tang San writhed in the nightmare, Yu Tianming sat contently watching the match. Dugu Yan and Ning Rongrong flanked him, feeding him snacks and fruit.
Sensing Tang San's life was fading outside the city, Yu Tianming turned to the pink-haired girl behind him.
"Xiao Wu, I just found something really interesting. Want to go see it?"
"What is it?" Xiao Wu straightened up, feigning calm.
"You'll thank me for this," Yu Tianming said with a laugh. Without waiting for a reply, his hand fell on her shoulder, and the two vanished.
When Xiao Wu regained awareness, she found herself standing in a wilderness clearing. Not far away, Tang San lay crumpled on the ground, barely breathing. Beside him stood a white-robed elder.
Shi Nian, the headmaster of Canghui Academy, barked in surprise, "Blue Tyrant Academy? How did you get here without a sound?"
Xiao Wu ignored him. Seeing Tang San's state, her heart clenched. She knew—if he wasn't treated immediately, he wouldn't survive.
With a sob, she dropped to her knees before Yu Tianming.
"Please! Please save Brother San! If he dies, Blue Tyrant is finished!"
Yu Tianming looked down at her coldly. "I don't care about tournament rankings. It's just a game."
Shi Nian, incensed, shouted, "You dare ignore me—"
But before he could finish, Yu Tianming casually waved his hand.
Shi Nian exploded into a cloud of blood mist.
Only a seven-colored soul bone remained, which Yu Tianming pocketed.
Seeing his ruthlessness, Xiao Wu trembled.
"I'll do anything," she whispered. "Just save him."
She yanked open her clothes, exposing her pale skin.
But Yu Tianming looked away, voice cool.
"What I want isn't that. I want a hundred-thousand-year soul ring and soul bone. If I ask for your sacrifice—will you offer it?"
Xiao Wu's eyes filled with sorrow.
"I... I will. If I'm in your hands, I'm dead anyway. I might as well give it willingly."
Yu Tianming nodded. "Remember your words. Be ready when the time comes."
He didn't take Tang San for treatment. Instead, he raised his hand and bathed Tang San in a wave of glowing green light—the healing power of the Sky Azure Bull Python's right arm bone.
Tang San's body, broken by the illusion, began to recover—except for one carefully ignored spot.
Xiao Wu, still kneeling, noticed Tang San stir and hastily pulled her clothing closed.
Yu Tianming looked at the waking boy, thinking, 'Don't hate me, Little San. This is how one becomes truly strong.'
With that, he grabbed Xiao Wu and vanished once more.
---
When Shi Nian was killed, his illusion faded, and Tang San fainted. As consciousness returned, buzzing filled his ears.
Through blurry vision, he saw only Xiao Wu kneeling before Yu Tianming, fixing her clothes—then vanishing.
"Xiao Wu! Xiao Wu!!"
He staggered to his feet, looking around.
Nothing. No Shi Nian. No Xiao Wu. Just empty fields.
"Shi Nian... Tang Sect... Xiao Wu... was it all a dream?"
He looked down.
A snapped bolt from his Godly Zhuge Crossbow lay on the ground.
"No... if this was just a dream, why is this here?"
Unable to answer his own questions, Tang San sat down and began to circulate his Xuan Tian Technique.
But when his soul power reached his Qi Sea, it stopped.
His eyes widened. "Why? My meridians... they're destroyed? I'm only fourteen... I haven't even married Xiao Wu in either life!"
He fell silent.
Then realization dawned.
'Was that really an illusion? Maybe everything I saw... already happened. That's why Xiao Wu's been avoiding me. She just didn't want me to see it.'
Grief surged. He looked up at the endless wilds beyond Heaven Dou City and screamed.
"No—why would you do this to me?!"
