Douluo Dalu: The World Suppressing Douluo

Chapter 113: Chapter 114: Bunnies Are So Cute... But Too Delicious!

"He's dead? You killed him? Are you joking, Lin Ye?"

Hearing Lin Ye's words, Hu Liena froze for a moment before snapping at him, clearly annoyed.

"I get it—you just woke up and don't want to scare me. But this is a serious matter. We can't joke about it. We must work together if we want any chance of escaping from the hands of those evil soul masters."

"I'm not joking. If the Blood Bat were in its peak condition, I might not have been able to defeat him. But don't forget, he had already exhausted most of his soul power fighting against your Spirit Hall's two Soul Saints. He was on the verge of collapse."

Lin Ye shook his head, his voice calm as he replied.

Hearing this, Hu Liena's expression changed as she recalled the situation.

Even so, a Soul Saint wasn't someone a mere Grand Soul Master could kill!

She hesitated and asked, "Where's the body?"

"Gone. I burned it," Lin Ye answered nonchalantly.

"Burned? Where? Nearby? There's no sign of fire around here," Hu Liena said, her eyes scanning the surroundings in confusion.

"Not here. Over there."

Lin Ye pointed toward a towering mountain peak in the distance, addressing her doubts with ease.

"See that mountain? Earlier, the Blood Bat took us to a cave on that peak. Inside, there was a Bloodthirsty Vine. He tossed both of us onto the ground, and I pretended to be unconscious."

"Because he was already running on fumes, he tried to absorb the blood from the Bloodthirsty Vine to recover. That's when I took the opportunity to ambush and kill him. The cave was full of skeletons, so I burned everything—the Bloodthirsty Vine, the Blood Bat's body, and all the remains—before carrying you down the mountain."

Lin Ye's tone remained calm as he narrated the "embellished" version of his encounter with the Blood Bat.

"Are you sure?" Hu Liena still found it hard to believe.

After all, just climbing that peak seemed like an impossible feat for a teenager carrying her unconscious body.

"If you don't believe me, have your Spirit Hall people investigate later when they arrive," Lin Ye replied with unwavering confidence.

He wasn't concerned about what they might find. By now, everything—corpses and all—had been reduced to ashes.

"Alright, stop worrying. Let's focus on lighting a fire to signal your Spirit Hall reinforcements. If we wait until nightfall, it'll be hard for us to survive in the depths of the Evernight Forest with our current strength."

Having said all he could, Lin Ye left Hu Liena to her thoughts and stood up to gather firewood.

"I'll help you!"

Although Hu Liena was still skeptical, there was no point dwelling on it now. Worst-case scenario, she could send someone to check later.

Previously, the Blood Bat had only captured her. But when she woke up, Lin Ye was also there.

Whether the Blood Bat had caught another person or Lin Ye had followed them voluntarily, the fact remained—they had survived together. For that, she felt a growing sense of trust toward him.

After all, if Lin Ye had wanted to harm her, he could have done so while she was unconscious.

But he didn't. That thought left Hu Liena feeling oddly conflicted.

Together, they gathered firewood. Lin Ye even caught a few gray-furred wild rabbits. Once back at the clearing, Lin Ye started a fire and began preparing the rabbits.

"Ah! Lin Ye, why did you kill those rabbits? They're so cute!"

Sitting nearby, Hu Liena screamed in horror when she saw Lin Ye smash a rabbit's head with a single slap before starting to skin it. She covered her eyes with her hands, her voice trembling.

"I'm hungry. If I don't kill them, what am I supposed to eat?" Lin Ye replied, confused by her outburst.

Clearly, this Spirit Hall envoy had lived a sheltered life. She probably hadn't even cooked for herself before, let alone witnessed such a scene.

"Didn't you bring any rations?" Hu Liena mumbled, still covering her eyes.

"Rations? Why eat dry food when there's fresh rabbit meat right here?"

Lin Ye couldn't comprehend her logic and ignored her protests, speeding up his preparation of the rabbits.

Soon, the rabbits were skinned, roasted, and ready to eat. Lin Ye sprinkled some spices from a small bottle onto the meat, ensuring it was evenly coated, before tearing off a leg and biting into it.

"Delicious! My cooking skills haven't rusted one bit," Lin Ye thought as he savored the meat.

"Glug..."

The sound of someone swallowing hard broke his concentration. Lin Ye glanced over and saw Hu Liena staring at the roasted rabbit, her lips pressed tightly together.

So much for pitying the bunnies. She's clearly tempted!

"Are you hungry?" Lin Ye asked, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

"I..." Hu Liena's face flushed.

She hadn't eaten since morning, and it was already late afternoon. Of course, she was starving.

"Here, take it."

Shaking his head, Lin Ye handed her one of the roasted rabbits. Embarrassed, Hu Liena hesitated before accepting it.

"Um... can I use some of your spices?"

"Go ahead," Lin Ye replied, passing her the bottle of spices.

While Hu Liena busied herself seasoning the meat, Lin Ye kept an eye on their surroundings. The smoke from the fire was visible, but Spirit Hall's people still hadn't arrived.

"Lin Ye..."

As Lin Ye pondered how to use the Blood Infant's blood he had obtained, Hu Liena's hesitant voice interrupted his thoughts.

"What is it?" He frowned slightly, looking at her.

"I... finished mine. Can I have that one?"

Hu Liena held up the rabbit bones she had cleaned bare, her cheeks tinged with pink as she licked her lips and gazed at him expectantly.

"Didn't you say the rabbits were too cute to eat?" Lin Ye's expression twitched as he looked at her.

"But they're just too delicious!" Hu Liena replied without hesitation.
