"Cuihua, you don't really want to break up with me, do you?" Ma Hongjun asked, his tone mixed with frustration and disbelief.
"Yes," Cuihua replied firmly.
"But why? Haven't I treated you well? Don't you feel happy every time we're together?" Ma Hongjun pressed, his voice rising with emotion.
"You have been very kind to me, and I have felt happy. But..." Cuihua hesitated before continuing, "Whenever your martial soul's evil fire flares up, it's unbearable. I can't live like this anymore. Every time, it's just about venting your evil fire."
"But I've managed to control myself, haven't I? And the dean promised there would be a way to solve it!" Ma Hongjun retorted, his frustration mounting.
"You've said this so many times already, but it never changes. I have to think about my own safety," Cuihua said, her resolve unwavering.
The argument between Ma Hongjun and Cuihua grew heated. When Cuihua tried to leave, Ma Hongjun grabbed her wrist, refusing to let her go.
"Ahem." A soft cough interrupted them.
Ma Hongjun and Cuihua turned to see Ye Feng standing nearby with Ning Rongrong by his side. Ma Hongjun frowned, clearly displeased, but his expression shifted when he noticed Ning Rongrong. His eyes lit up with interest.
"What do you want? Are you here to meddle in someone else's business?" Ma Hongjun snapped.
"Let her go," Ye Feng said calmly.
Before Ma Hongjun could respond, another voice chimed in. "Let her go."
Everyone turned to see Tang San and Xiao Wu walking toward them.
Ye Feng glanced at Xiao Wu, momentarily stunned. In the original storyline, wasn't it Xiao Wu who chastised Ma Hongjun and Tang San who intervened, even sparring with Ma Hongjun? Could it be that Tang San's protagonist aura was at work, pulling Xiao Wu closer to him again?
"Senior Brother, so this is where you've been," Xiao Wu said, walking up to Ye Feng. "I was going to have breakfast with you, but you weren't in your room. I ran into Tang San, and he said you didn't return last night, so we came looking for you. Don't get the wrong idea."
Ye Feng smiled, understanding her explanation. He gently patted Xiao Wu's head. "It's my fault for not telling you I was going out last night."
Xiao Wu's gaze shifted to Ning Rongrong, a trace of curiosity and jealousy in her eyes. "Senior Brother, where were you last night?" she asked.
"I went out with Master. Sword Douluo is here," Ye Feng explained truthfully.
"Oh, Senior Jian is here." Xiao Wu nodded, her expression softening. Sword Douluo, despite his strength, had always treated her with fairness, even knowing she was a spirit beast. This left a favorable impression on her.
After answering Xiao Wu, Ye Feng turned his attention back to Ma Hongjun and Cuihua. "I noticed your soul power fluctuations and heard you mention the dean. You're a student of Shrek Academy, aren't you?" Ye Feng asked Ma Hongjun.
Ma Hongjun hesitated, then nodded.
Ye Feng's expression softened into a smile. "Then let her go. Forcing her won't make her stay willingly."
Ma Hongjun's brows furrowed, and he glanced at Tang San. "Are you all planning to meddle in my business?" he asked, clearly agitated.
Ye Feng raised a hand to reassure him. "We're all students of the same academy. Your problems are our problems. Let her go first, and I promise we'll find a solution that works for everyone."
After a long pause, Ma Hongjun reluctantly released Cuihua's wrist.
Instead of running off, Cuihua stayed, curiosity evident in her gaze as she looked at Ye Feng. She seemed eager to hear his suggestion.
"Listen," Ye Feng began, addressing both Ma Hongjun and Cuihua. "The root of your problem is simple. Cuihua, you feel overwhelmed by Ma Hongjun's evil fire outbursts, right? And Ma Hongjun, you struggle to control it. Here's a potential solution: what if we introduce more 'hens' to share the 'pressure'?"
Both Ma Hongjun and Cuihua blinked in confusion. "Hens? What are you talking about?" they asked in unison.
Ye Feng chuckled lightly. "It's a metaphor. If one hen can't handle the demands of the rooster, the solution is to bring in more hens. That way, the rooster can release his energy without overwhelming one hen."
Cuihua's expression darkened. "Are you saying Ma Hongjun should find other women? That I should accept sharing him with others?"
Ye Feng nodded. "Think about it. What are your future plans, Cuihua?"
"My plans?" Cuihua looked stunned, her mind blank. She hadn't thought that far ahead.
"You're not getting any younger," Ye Feng said gently. "In rural areas, women your age are often married within a year or two. Have you thought about what kind of life you want?"
Cuihua hesitated, then nodded slightly.
"Here's the reality: if you leave Ma Hongjun, you'll likely marry a farmer. Farmers work hard, but their lives are full of struggle—plowing fields, raising livestock, and earning just enough to survive. Compare that to Ma Hongjun. He's already a Spirit Grand Master. Do you know what that means? He receives a monthly allowance of ten gold soul coins from Spirit Hall. That's 120 gold soul coins a year, more than most farmers see in a lifetime. And as he advances, his earnings will only increase."
Cuihua's eyes widened as she processed the numbers.
"You have a choice," Ye Feng continued. "You can stay with Ma Hongjun, endure a few compromises, and live a life of comfort and security. Or you can leave him and face the uncertainties of rural life. Think carefully. Ma Hongjun didn't force himself on you just now, which shows he values you. That means something, doesn't it?"
Ye Feng stepped back, letting his words sink in. He didn't press them for an answer, allowing Cuihua and Ma Hongjun time to consider their choices.
