Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Long-Term Mission – Kill Tang San
"Ding! Congratulations, host, for triggering a long-term mission: Kill the Son of Destiny, Tang San."
In Zhao Ming's mind, the mechanical voice of the system echoed.
"Ding! The Son of Destiny, Tang San, has already developed hatred toward the host. If he is not eliminated, he will become a disaster."
"Mission reward: Unknown."
Kill Tang San? But Tang Hao is quite the problem.
Zhao Ming frowned.
Who knows where that guy Tang Hao is watching from? There might not even be a chance to make a move.
But since this is a long-term mission, there's no time limit.
"What are you doing here?" Tang San asked coldly as he watched Zhao Ming approach.
"Me? What else could I be doing? I just heard that the Grandmaster has taken you as his disciple. You're still young; don't go down the wrong path," Zhao Ming said with a faint smile.
"My affairs are none of your business. And please show some respect to my teacher," Tang San said hatefully. A milky white soul power gathered in his hands, making them appear like white jade. He was ready to strike at Zhao Ming.
So this is "Mysterious Jade Hand"?
Zhao Ming curiously observed the changes in Tang San's hands.
But right now, Zhao Ming had no intention of fighting him.
"Azha, help Xiao San take the Grandmaster back to his room," Zhao Ming turned around and called out to a thin boy.
"Alright, boss!" The boy Zhao Ming had called quickly stepped forward and, together with Tang San, carried the Grandmaster away. The Grandmaster's dormitory was in the same building, just on the top floor.
"Boss, that new kid seems to have some resentment toward you," Wang Sheng remarked once Tang San and the others were gone.
"It's fine. Maybe I was a bit too blunt," Zhao Ming shook his head.
"Boss, you didn't do anything wrong. If Tang San ever dares to lay a hand on you, I'll be the first to teach him a lesson!" Wang Sheng pounded his chest. Having witnessed Zhao Ming's abilities firsthand, he realized that this new boss was no ordinary person.
Whether in talent or intelligence, Zhao Ming was outstanding. In the future, he would undoubtedly become a powerful figure in the Douluo Continent. Wang Sheng had already made up his mind to be Zhao Ming's loyal follower.
After offending Xiao Chenyu, he had finally understood that in this academy, only geniuses and bootlickers could live comfortably. His senior from the previous year had also been in Dorm Seven, and only by clinging to a noble-born soul master had he managed to secure a privileged life after graduation.
"Xiao Shengzi, you're quite promising. I appreciate you," Zhao Ming patted Wang Sheng's shoulder approvingly.
Though Wang Sheng lacked talent, Zhao Ming found his personality agreeable. Giving him a helping hand in the future wouldn't be a bad idea.
Just then, a crisp voice rang out from outside.
"Is this Dorm Seven?"
Everyone turned toward the doorway, their eyes widening.
A delicate young girl stood at the entrance. Her fair cheeks had a rosy glow, her soft and tender complexion resembling a ripe peach, tempting one to take a bite. Though her attire was simple, it was neat and tidy.
Her long black hair was braided into a scorpion tail and draped over her lower back. Her big, watery eyes sparkled with curiosity, and she held a set of brand-new school uniforms in her hands.
"Xiao Wu?" Zhao Ming's eyes widened.
Seeing Xiao Wu's real appearance, Zhao Ming couldn't help but compare her to the Douluo anime from his past life.
Such a beautiful girl had been turned into a countryside bumpkin in the adaptation. What an eyesore!
Although Xiao Wu hadn't yet matured, even in her loli form, she was incredibly cute.
How did that poem go again? "Foreign dress, cat ears, small lips, big eyes. Short hair is lively, long hair is graceful. Give her candy, play kissy-kissy…" (?
"What are you looking at?" Xiao Wu instantly noticed Zhao Ming's pervy gaze and snapped at him.
"Ahem, my bad. I'm the dorm leader and boss of Dorm Seven, Zhao Ming. What's your name?" Zhao Ming stepped forward and looked at Xiao Wu.
Xiao Wu blinked her large eyes and smiled, "My name is Xiao Wu. My martial soul is a rabbit, a very cute little white rabbit. What about you?"
When she smiled, two adorable dimples appeared on her cheeks, making her even more charming.
"My martial soul is a Puppet. You probably haven't heard of it," Zhao Ming replied with a smile.
"Puppet? Never heard of it," Xiao Wu tilted her head in confusion but didn't dwell on it. "By the way, you're so young. How did you become the boss of this dorm?"
"Because I defeated everyone here. That's why I'm the boss," Zhao Ming chuckled.
"Oh? So if I beat you, I'll be the boss of Dorm Seven?" Xiao Wu's eyes lit up in excitement. She placed her school uniform aside, eager to challenge him.
"Of course, but I don't think you can beat me. I've already broken through to the Soul Master realm," Zhao Ming said with a shake of his head.
"What? You've already broken through? Are you innately full of soul power?" Xiao Wu asked in surprise. Only those with innate full soul power could advance so quickly.
"Yep." Zhao Ming nodded.
"Then I won't fight you now. I'll wait until I break through in a few days. Then, I'll be the boss of this dorm!" Xiao Wu said, raising her little fist confidently.
"Alright, I'll be waiting." Zhao Ming responded nonchalantly.
Xiao Wu was a 100,000-year-old soul beast in human form, so she also had innate full soul power. But defeating him? That was impossible.
After speaking, Zhao Ming walked to his bed and lay down comfortably.
"Ah, my new bedding is so nice and soft," Zhao Ming muttered.
After a while, noticing Xiao Wu hadn't moved, Zhao Ming decided to tempt her.
Bedding?
Xiao Wu looked at Zhao Ming, who was lying lazily with one leg crossed over the other, clearly enjoying himself. She hesitated.
She hadn't prepared any bedding when she arrived.
Working students were all poor kids, but they were much more considerate than noble-born students. A few sharp-witted ones immediately stepped up.
"Xiao Wu, you can use my blanket. I'll just half-cover myself with it."
"Xiao Wu, take my blanket. I can manage with just the mat."
Zhao Ming remained indifferent as the others extended their kindness toward Xiao Wu.
Xiao Wu glanced at the bedding the work-study students offered. While not filthy, most of them were worn-out and tattered.
But Zhao Ming's bedding was brand new, and it looked much nicer.
And there were carrots…
Xiao Wu's eyes widened as she caught a whiff of that familiar carrot scent.
Since leaving the Star Dou Forest, she hadn't had any carrots in a long time.
Suppressing her longing, Xiao Wu looked at Zhao Ming and said, "Hey, Zhao Ming, let's make a deal."
"What deal?" Zhao Ming smiled. He knew the rabbit had taken the bait.
Waiting for the rabbit to fall into the trap—truly, the ancients didn't deceive me!
Xiao Wu hesitated for a moment before suggesting, "Your blanket is big enough for two people. How about we put our beds together and share it?"
"Share? That's not appropriate. I'm not that kind of person!" Zhao Ming quickly waved his hands.
Not that kind of person? Are you implying I am?
With that pervy look you had earlier, who would believe you?!
Xiao Wu snorted in annoyance. "I don't mind, so what are you afraid of? Afraid I'll take advantage of you?"
"Alright, then," Zhao Ming agreed, pretending to be reluctant while secretly pleased.
"Well, hurry up and move my bed! What are you standing around for?" Xiao Wu urged.
"I'm not a strength-type soul master, you know. And show some respect for your boss! Never mind, I'll let it slide today," Zhao Ming sighed as he pushed Xiao Wu's bed closer.
"Hey! Align it properly! See that hole? Fit it in! These beds are designed to be joined together!" Xiao Wu scolded.
Zhao Ming paused.
Why did that sound so weird?
