Chapter 65: Chapter 65 – Clash Beneath the Setting Sun
The golden hue of sunset bathed the mock fortress as the tension skyrocketed.
Li Wei narrowed his eyes at the four silhouettes blocking his exit. Tang San stood at the front, Blue Silver Grass snaking across the ground, glinting with spirit energy. To his left, Ma Hongjun's hands ignited with crimson flame. Oscar handed a sausage to Dai Mubai, whose white tiger aura surged into existence.
Behind them, Zhao Wuji had yet to pursue—watching with folded arms from the inner chamber. "This… will be interesting."
Li Wei exhaled slowly and glanced over his shoulder. Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Wu had just arrived at the courtyard's edge, and Ning Rongrong was visible in the distance, her pagoda glowing faintly.
"Don't worry," Li Wei muttered.
[BuffRide: Ryuki.]
A red kamen rider card slid into the Diendriver. When fired, it cloaked him in a faint shimmer—the Mirror Shield. Just in time, too, as Tang San's Blue Silver Grass lashed forward.
Clang!
The vines rebounded harmlessly off the shimmering aura.
Tang San frowned. "His defenses… again with those cards."
Li Wei didn't stop. He threw the small box containing the "objective" into the air.
"Zhuqing!"
Zhu Zhuqing darted forward with an explosive speed, catching it mid-air. Her form blurred as she activated Hell Rush, disappearing into shadow.
Taking this time Ning Rongrong use her second spirit abilities while in her hand a Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda manifest and she direct it toward Zhu Zhuqing.
Feeling this amplification, she increase her speed.
Ma Hongjun roared. "Not so fast!"
Phoenix Fire Line! A streak of flame tore toward her retreating figure—only to be blocked mid-flight by a blue flash.
Bang!
Li Wei's Diendriver smoked faintly from another shot—[AttackRide: Blast].
"I'm your opponent," he said.
Dai Mubai surged forward with a roar. White Tiger Vajra Transformation! Muscles bulged, and his aura flared like a wild beast.
Li Wei flicked another card.
[BuffRide: Kuuga!]
Power surged through his limbs, and he met Dai Mubai head-on.
Their fists collided—Boom!—a shockwave rippling through the courtyard.
The tiger's strength was overwhelming, but Kuuga's buff gave Li Wei just enough force to hold his ground.
Tang San darted past them, eyes locked on Zhu Zhuqing's fleeing figure. He launched Blue Silver Grass again—binding vines chasing after her silhouette.
But Xiao Wu was waiting.
Teleportation.
In an instant, she was in front of him, eyes twinkling.
Charm.
Tang San froze—not bound, but hesitant, just enough for Zhu Zhuqing to vanish deeper into the forest.
"Xiao Wu," Tang San said softly, snapping out of it.
"Don't hold back, Brother San," she replied with a small smile, then kicked off into a rapid exchange of feints and flips.
Back in the courtyard, Dai Mubai was panting, arms numb. "Tch… what the hell is he…"
Li Wei gritted his teeth. Kuuga's buff was beginning to fade, and Ryuki's Mirror Shield had cracked under repeated blows. The combined assault was draining his soul power fast.
Even though the enhancement of the tool martial spirit to the physical ability is not as high as beast martial spirit, the strength of the Kamen Rider cannot be underestimate. Combining with the physical training from the system, his physique cannot be look down upon.
But Oscar hadn't been idle—he tossed another mushroom-shaped sausage to Dai Mubai. "Hurry!"
"Noted."
Dai Mubai leaped up—boosted by the Swift Mushroom Sausage—and descended with a hammering aerial strike.
[Final FormRide: Blade!]
Li Wei slot in the card for the Kamen Rider Blade into Diendriver gun and transform it using Final FormRide. In an instant, the Kamen Rider Blade form shifted. In his hand appeared a giant sword—shaped unmistakably like Kamen Rider Blade's Final Form weapon.
He raised the blade. Clang!
Dai Mubai's attack collided with it—and lost.
He was sent flying back, crashing into a wooden beam and coughing.
From the tree line, Flender raised an eyebrow. "He activated a Final Form. That's supposed to be his fourth ring skill, right?"
Zhao Wuji nodded. "That confirms it—his power is no fluke."
Meanwhile, Tang San caught Xiao Wu's leg mid-flip and spun her to the side—not harshly, but enough to open a path forward. He launched a line of Blue Silver Grass up a tree, pulling himself skyward to survey the terrain.
He saw her.
Zhu Zhuqing—vaulting from tree to tree, agile as a cat, box still in hand. But she was slowing.
Tang San's eyes narrowed.
From the ground, he murmured, "Third ability—Web Restraint."
Blue Silver Grass erupted in a net-like formation.
Zhu Zhuqing saw it too late.
It closed around her, and with a hiss of energy, she was suspended mid-air—arms tangled, the box slipping from her grip.
"No—!" she hissed.
But someone caught it.
A flash of pink.
Xiao Wu had teleported just above, catching the box as she descended gracefully. Her eyes met Zhu Zhuqing's. "Sorry, I'll finish this."
Then she vanished again.
Back in the courtyard, Li Wei's blade clashed with Ma Hongjun's flame as the two collided. Sparks flew.
"You can't beat all of us!" the fire phoenix shouted.
"I don't need to."
He twisted, catching Oscar off guard—and slot a card while shooting it at Oscar.
[KamenRide: W!]
A green-and-black figure burst forth and slammed into Oscar with a spinning kick. Just enough disruption.
Li Wei leapt backward.
"Xiao Wu! Run!"
From the forest edge, Xiao Wu broke through the brush, box in hand. Just a few meters to the outer ring of the fortress boundary.
Victory was in reach.
Tang San whipped his Blue Silver Grass once more, flinging it in an arc. But—
[BuffRide: Faiz!]
Li Wei's aim was true. The card shot across the field and struck Xiao Wu with a shimmer of red light.
Her body blurred.
Speed amplified.
Tang San's vine missed by an inch.
Step. Step. Sprint. Wind.
Xiao Wu crossed the boundary.
A loud chime rang through the air.
"Test concluded," Flender announced.
Cheers, groans, and sighs echoed across the clearing.
Team Two had won.
---
Later, back at the courtyard, the teams regrouped. Sweat covered their faces, but none were injured. The fight had been intense—but controlled.
Li Wei stood quietly beside Zhu Zhuqing. She gave him a sidelong look. "Thanks for trusting me with the box."
"You earned it."
Nearby, Dai Mubai scowled—but said nothing.
Tang San approached Li Wei.
For a long moment, neither spoke.
Then Tang San extended a hand. "You were right."
Li Wei raised an eyebrow.
"…About one thing. You don't speak without thought. You had a strategy. You trust your team. That deserves respect."
Li Wei took his hand. "Thank you."
From the sidelines, Flender smiled faintly.
Perhaps the storm had passed—or perhaps it had just begun.
