Chapter 28: The Grand Douluo Arena of Tiandou City

After talking for a while, Yang Wei spoke up, a bit concerned: "Xiao Xiong, how long do you plan to stay in Tiandou City this time? You're only eleven years old now, so you still need to be careful out there."

Yang Xiong smiled and said, "Thanks for your concern, big brother. I plan to go to the Douluo Arena to take a look and also test my true strength."

A trace of nostalgia appeared on Yang Wei's face. "I used to fight many battles in the Douluo Arena. I'm an offensive type, and I did quite well there. But ever since I reached the Soul Lord rank, I've lost many matches in a row and haven't been going much lately."

Yang Wei's martial soul was an iron sword, which gave him some advantage in attack power. Unfortunately, since becoming a Soul Lord, at level 31 he had to face soul masters of level 38 or 39, battles where he had little chance of winning.

Yang Xiong laughed, "Don't worry, big brother. I know my limits. I won't participate in any death matches; I just want to step onto the arena for some friendly sparring."

Yang Wei nodded, "You've always had your own mind since you were young. But be careful on the arena. Soul skills are ruthless, some fighters might go to any lengths when they get crazy. On the arena, any kind of weapon or tool is allowed."

"By the way, you might as well stay at Zixing Academy these days. That way, the brothers can train and cultivate together."

Yang Xiong smiled, "Big brother, our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect has many businesses in Tiandou City, countless hotels just within the city. I plan to stay in a hotel, it's convenient for rest and recovery."

Yang Wei gave Yang Xiong a sideways glance. "I almost forgot we're inner disciples of the sect. You're a core disciple the sect is focusing on. A mere hotel is no problem at all , even if you wanted to find a villa in Tiandou City, that wouldn't be an issue."

After leaving Zixing Academy, the Yang brothers went straight to a hotel owned by the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Upon learning Yang Xiong's sect disciple status, the hotel manager immediately arranged the most luxurious penthouse suite , without even charging a fee.

Yang Xiong was speechless. It seemed he still constantly enjoyed the privileges of his sect's noble status. No wonder sect disciples felt such a strong sense of belonging. The attentive service alone was enough to make one reluctant to leave.

Yang Xiong meditated alone in the hotel room, and around 7 p.m., he went alone to his destination, the Grand Douluo Arena of Tiandou City, the largest Douluo arena in the entire Tiandou Empire.

The arena occupied a huge area and was divided into more than ten individual fighting arenas. It could hold an audience of over 100,000 and was one of the most luxurious and famous buildings in Tiandou City.

Upon entering the arena, Yang Xiong carefully studied the rules before preparing to register.

All participants received a medal, with the level indicated by the quality of the mineral it was made from. The lowest was the Iron Medal, also called the Iron Douluo. Above that were Copper, Silver, Gold, Purple Gold, Sapphire, Ruby, and Diamond, eight ranks in total.

All newcomers started with the Iron Douluo medal. To advance from Iron to Copper Douluo, one needed 100 points. Each victory earned one point; a loss deducted one point. If a player won more than five consecutive matches, each additional consecutive win would add 10 points, beyond ten consecutive wins, each win added 100 points. Even if a player reached the Copper Douluo rank, dropping below 100 points would revoke the Copper status. To advance from Copper to Silver Douluo, 1,000 points were required. Each Copper Douluo victory awarded 10 points, and each loss deducted 10. The point gain from consecutive wins followed the same ratio as Iron Douluo.

In other words, to achieve good results in the arena, one needed to maintain winning streaks, the more consecutive wins, the higher the points.

Soul masters grow over time. At the higher Soul Lord stage, you might be invincible within your rank, but once reaching the Soul Ancestor stage, low-level Soul Ancestors must face high-level ones of 48 or 49. The difference between level 41 and 49 was enormous.

Especially in the arena, one would meet various opponents with different martial souls and attributes. Some martial souls even had natural counters to others, which greatly increased the difficulty of maintaining a winning streak.

For example, a strength-type soul master might be unbeatable among peers of similar level, but if facing a much faster opponent, they could easily be at a disadvantage.

Most soul masters had preferences , speed, strength, agility, defense and few could develop comprehensively in all aspects.

The differences between martial souls were even greater. Top-tier beast and tool martial souls naturally suppressed ordinary soul masters. For example, the Blue Electric Tyrannosaurus family's martial souls typically suppressed most beast-type soul masters during combat.

Furthermore, the arena usually divided matches into three categories: strategic matches, betting matches, and life-or-death fights. The bloodiness and brutality varied accordingly. Matches could be one-on-one, two-on-two, or group battles, each with notable differences.

Yang Xiong went straight to the registration desk. The staff quickly handed him a form asking for name, soul power level, birthplace, martial soul, and other details. After filling out the form, Yang Xiong received an Iron Douluo medal, which even had a corresponding serial number linked to his information.

One more thing: all holders of Douluo medals did not use their real names on the arena but had to pick nicknames. Only the arena kept track of which nickname belonged to whom.

Without hesitation, Yang Xiong chose the nickname "Xiong Ba Tianxia" (Dominating the World). Though he wanted to train quietly in the Douluo world, he still needed a goal.

The Iron Douluo medal quickly had his nickname engraved on it, and the registration was complete.

Yang Xiong signed up for a strategic match and waited quietly for the competition to start.

Half an hour later, it was finally Yang Xiong's turn. He put on a silver mask and walked toward the arena as instructed.

This was Yang Xiong's first time competing in the Douluo arena, and he felt a bit nervous. Although he had come to watch matches with his parents before, being on stage was a completely different experience.

His nerves increased as he approached the arena platform, which measured 40 meters long and wide, enough space for an ordinary Grand Soul Master to fully display their strength. This was a standard Grand Soul Master level arena.

Countless spectators seemed to be cheering loudly all around. The deafening noise shook his heart, making him feel somewhat uneasy.
