Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Testing
Xia Yi didn't know that Ya Li was so obsessed with making him her student that she was practically possessed by the idea.
After spending one night at the Spirit Transmission Pagoda, he left.
Mu Xi stayed behind at the Pagoda.
Out of consideration for Xia Yi, Leng Yaozhu said she would give Mu Xi an opportunity.
Since they were both fire-attribute soul masters, Leng Yaozhu promised Xia Yi that after Mu Xi left the Pagoda, her strength would be on par with the average student at Shrek Academy.
As for the Forging Stone Association, Leng Yaozhu sent Long Yali to explain the situation.
Xia Yi deliberately changed into a black coat with a hood.
After borrowing a red sedan from Leng Yaozhu, he quietly slipped out the back gate of the Spirit Transmission Pagoda.
Although he was also a victim and Leng Yaozhu assured him that no one over the age of fifteen would dare to openly attack him, he was still worried about being recognized.
If things went wrong, he could end up getting mobbed by dozens or even hundreds of under-fifteen-year-old soul masters.
When he arrived at the gates of Shrek Academy, there were still some young soul masters gathered there.
However, the crowd was less than a third of what it was the previous day.
These young geniuses had been severely discouraged by Shrek Academy's prodigies and Xia Yi the day before.
Most of them had already left overnight.
Near the entrance of Shrek Academy, Xia Yi put on his hood before getting out of the car. He then stored the car in his storage soul tool and kept his head down as he walked towards the gate.
This place was full of young geniuses.
Xia Yi didn't know how many of them were linked to Heavenly Fox Carefree Chronicles.
At this moment, he definitely couldn't afford to be recognized.
Originally, Xia Yi's plan was to camp at the entrance of Shrek Academy and challenge every genius under fifteen years old or below the rank of Soul Ancestor, beating them down until they couldn't lift their heads.
Even if Yun Ming personally approved his application to become a working student at Shrek Academy, Xia Yi still intended to keep challenging them.
But that one book, made him abandon his original plan.
"I'll let you off for now. I'll challenge you next time," Xia Yi muttered quietly as he approached the gate of Shrek Academy.
Since he kept his head down and the area was crowded, no one noticed him.
It wasn't until he stood before the gatekeeping student and took off his hood that a few students recognized him.
Xia Yi immediately felt a cold chill from behind.
He turned around and saw a dozen young soul masters glaring at him with fierce eyes.
They were closing in on him quickly.
With a cheerful smile, Xia Yi waved at them before turning and entering Shrek Academy.
Boom!!
The two Soul Sage gatekeepers released their soul power, blocking everyone ten meters away from the entrance.
Xia Yi could vaguely hear cursing behind him.
He didn't care and continued walking forward.
"No one's here to greet me? How rude," Xia Yi muttered as he looked around. With no one to guide him, he pulled out a map.
"Working students' dormitory... It's here." After confirming the location, he took out the car he borrowed from Leng Yaozhu once again.
Shrek Academy was massive.
Even though it was just an academy, its size rivaled that of a large city.
Walking from the main gate to the working students' dormitory would take over an hour.
"Shrek Academy only has around seven or eight hundred students in total, including both inner and outer court students. Even if you count the teachers, the total wouldn't exceed a thousand people. Do they really not find it eerie to occupy such a vast campus?" Xia Yi muttered curiously.
But as he got closer to the teaching and dormitory areas of Shrek Academy, his doubts were gradually dispelled.
Near the teaching area, there were shops and small convenience stores.
It was bustling.
The crowd was as lively as any other part of Shrek City.
Xia Yi ignored the people around him and headed straight to the working students' dormitory.
When he saw the dormitory, he was stunned.
He couldn't believe that the prestigious Shrek Academy would have such a shabby dormitory.
Calling it "shabby" was generous. It looked downright dilapidated.
The working students' dormitory was located behind a small grove on the west side of Ling Bing Square.
Compared to the grand main teaching building at Ling Bing Square, it looked like a slum.
The buildings were low and only one story high. They appeared old and worn down. In front was a grove, which seemed more like a screen to hide this place from view to avoid embarrassment.
It was definitely not a pleasant place to live.
There were about twenty or so small houses. The walls were worn out, and some of the windows didn't even have glass, looking utterly dilapidated.
Xia Yi noticed two slightly better rooms, but they were occupied with basic luggage inside.
They were probably in better shape because the students living there had paid out of pocket for repairs.
Since it was class time, no one was around.
"Oh well, I'll just bear with it," Xia Yi sighed and chose an empty room next to the two occupied ones.
When he saw the lock on the door, he twitched.
This place didn't even have glass windows. What was the point of locking it?
He easily pulled off the lock.
Inside were just two metal bunk bed frames without even wooden boards to sleep on. Nothing else.
The floor was covered in dust.
Oh, and there was also an exposed wire hanging from the ceiling connected to a light bulb. He couldn't tell if it was decorative or actually functional.
"Who's there, damaging school property?"
As soon as Xia Yi removed the lock, a terrifying aura descended.
A figure appeared before him, looking like he was in his thirties, surrounded by seven soul rings and wearing glowing battle armor.
"Battle armor!" Xia Yi instantly activated his martial soul. His second soul ring lit up, deflecting most of the overwhelming pressure. He looked up at the figure in the air.
"How can a mere three-ring soul master withstand my aura?" The Battle Armor Master was shocked.
"Who are you? Why did you attack me?" Xia Yi demanded.
"We're Shrek Academy's enforcers. You damaged the dormitory, so I came to investigate," the man replied. But when he looked closer, his eyes widened. "You're Xia Yi?"
"That's me," Xia Yi nodded. "I'm also a working student. I can choose my dorm room, right?"
"The rooms are assigned by the academy," the man answered. Recognizing Xia Yi, he recalled his story and asked, "Didn't anyone help you with the admission process?"
"No," Xia Yi shook his head, a bead of sweat forming on his brow.
"So this was a test, huh? Trying to put me in my place," Xia Yi thought. He noticed the man's aura growing stronger after recognizing him.
But Xia Yi stood firm, meeting his gaze head-on.
"I can't believe his second soul ring can counter my aura," the man thought, shocked.
Unwilling to give up, he unleashed even more pressure, like a mountain bearing down on Xia Yi.
