Don’t Trample on Innocent Love

Chapter 25.2

The designer glanced at Ophelia, lowered his voice and apologized.

“I’m sorry, My Lady. You were the only one who booked the appointment, but suddenly, Lady Philon suddenly came without notice… I should have firmly refused, but I was worried about offending the Duke of Valent… I’m so sorry. I won’t let it happen again.”

“It’s alright. Just be more attentive next time.”

“Of course. For the engagement dress, I’ve incorporated your preference for a simple design, and for the wedding dress…”

“By the way…”

Ophelia’s attention was still focused outside. Unable to contain her curiosity, she abruptly interrupted.

“Who is the woman next to the Duke of Valent? I’ve never seen her before.”

This was the wardrobe room that handled the ceremonial dresses of the central nobility, so there was no one whom the designer didn’t know.

Glancing discreetly outside, she lowered her voice so only Ophelia could hear.

“This is Lady Daisy Pilon, a noblewoman from one of the oldest families in the South. Her family has ties to the Valent family for generations. This is only her second time coming to the capital, and it’s the first time I’ve seen her in real life too.”

“Is that so?”

“But since there’s been so much talk about how beautiful she is, I’ve seen her face in the newspaper.”

Ophelia glanced discreetly outside while pretending to examine the dress closely. To say that Daisy Pilon was beautiful would be an understatement. Her petite and delicate figure looked as if she would fit snugly in one’s embrace, and her round eyes and small mouth had an endearing charm that made one want to keep looking at her. Above all, her radiant smile seemed to exude an irresistible loveliness.

Ophelia looked at the mirror. She knew she was just as pretty, but her aura was completely different from Daisy Pilon’s. She was sharp, cold, and not as petite as the other woman.

So this was Robern’s type.

“I’ve almost finished it, would you like to try it on?”

“Maybe another time… No, I’ll do it today. It’d be a hassle to come back again.”

Ophelia had given up many things while preparing for her marriage. Just as Hugo had told her not to expect anything from him, Ophelia had given up on the dream of having a warm and affectionate partner, so there was no point in showing him the dress or asking for his opinion.

Since the dress held no significance for her, she wanted to get it over with as soon as possible.

And most of all, she was curious. She wondered how Robern would act when he was around Daisy Pilon. Perhaps she had secretly longed to catch a glimpse of the tenderness she might never witness herself.
