Chapter 8: 8 - Time Skip
When we had finished our heroic deed of saving the village from a bandit attack my status looked like this;
[Nameless]
Job: Villager Lvl 34 | Senior Villager Lvl 10 |Farmer Level 27 | Swordsman 16 | Thief 1
Special Points: 0
Ability: [Reset] | Appraisal | Party | Party Customization | 5th Job | Exp x20 | 1/20 Exp | Critical Chance Up 15% | Sword 2 | Chant Removal |
But it's been close too two years now since that fateful day, and our quadret of orphaned siblings was fast approaching the day of our awakening ritual.
The time was almost right for us to go our separate ways, and grow they had.
But as you'd suspect none grew more than myself.
[Nameless]
Job: Villager Lvl 50 | Village Chief Lvl 10 | Farmer Level 50 | Warrior 18 | Thief 22 | Swordsman 25 | Senior Villager Lvl 25 | Hero 7
Unselected Jobs: Merchant 4 | Bandit 1
Special Points: 3
Ability: [Reset] | Appraisal | Party | Party Customization | 8th Job | Exp x20 | 1/20 Exp | Critical Chance Up 15% | Sword 2 | Chant Omission |
As much as I wanted the others to grow I still wanted to grow myself so I maxed our my allowable jobs and with my grand total of two hundred seven Special points took on all my strongest jobs at once, while also raising my Chant Shorten to Chant Ommission allowing me to use my special moves without need to call them out at all.
And the advantage of this grand increase was silently being able to as a [Village Chief] getting to use [Name Order] to grant or chant the name of people and places, but rather than conduct mischief since technically I should have this job, I only named the four of us since upon our awakening the gods would gift us with a name so I just gave that present a few days early, choosing to name my 'siblings' of this world after the friends I grew up with from my old world.
[Cade]
Job : Hero 22
Ability: Heroic Slash
[Cole]
Job: Knight 7
Ability: Lord Defense
[Alison]
Job: Miko 13
Ability: Vital Bloom
They had grown up in more ways than one over the last few years, each of them still possessing the hero class but only Cade had the mentality to deal with such a position I though, while Cole took up swordsman until he unlocked warrior, then just a few months ago I switched him to Knight when he unlocked it, since a hero always needs a tank in the party.
As for Alison, well she was always opposed to fighting still bearing the scars of our bandit fight in her heart, so when she managed to unlock the Shrine Maiden job I switched her to it without hesitation and she developed through that to Senior Shrine Maiden, and then finally as a Miko.
Her powers as a healer would greatly aid any party she chose to belong to, or even simply just the church in general would be pleased to accept such a pious and talented young soul as herself.
The stage was set for the greater awakening in this villages history, one that was surely to become legend as it spread and details were changed, but one thing remained, while they were all destined for greatness, I would be remaining here, my job still remaining stubbornly as a villager, I had considered making it a farmer but that would mean talking to the lord and negotiating for a plot of land, better to go it as a villager to start with and say I was going to try and make a start in the city since staying behind in the village that birthed a hero which would only constantly remind me of my own inadequacy.
And even if I couldn't get to the city I could create my own homestead closer to the forest as a loner at least until the chance to get away presented itself.
The three were absolutely bubbling within the orphanage as the day of the awakening drew closer, waiting on the summer solstice to perform the rite when really the village chief or hell even myself could perform it at any time of our choosing, actually ironically enough even Cole could do the [ID Card Reveal] but thankfully he was not exactly bright and had never known he had this sleep spell within him.
None of the three seemed to know their jobs now, whereas before they knew they were swordsmen thanks to copying me and being able to perform [Slash] but without knowing their job, and by relation to that the associated skill, they couldn't call upon the chant within their minds to then call forth said skill.
As the time of our departure from the orphanage drew closer Sister presented the four of us with a new set of clothes, nothing all to great by earth standards but new clothes were always welcome and these were high quality compared to the Thax ones we normally wore, she had been saving up the copper and iron bits we'd been contributing to the orphanage from our rabbit fur sales along with the haul we got for selling off the bandits weapons and armor we didn't keep for ourselves from the fateful day.
And instead of spending it on the orphanage she saved it till now to spend it on us to give back to us who had given so much to out home.
The total number of us orphans was still around ten, with the total increasing a few years ago with newborns who were unwanted, but soon the current younglings would be taking up our mantle as the big four set out on to live as apprentices or strike for the big city to make a real name for ourselves.
As I nestled into my bed, I could still hear Cole and Cade locked in an intense discussion about how one of them was going to be a Sage for sure while the other was going to get Paladin.
He he he
Well at least Cole's not to far off the mark since he'll get to become one with another rank up, but sorry Cade no magic for you Mr. Hero you've got better things to do than endlessly chanting magic spells.
