Chapter 472: Consecutive Knockdowns_3
Everyone knows that Link is not only a global superstar but also the big boss of Lionsgate Films, and a wealthy tycoon ranked within the top 500 on the Forbes global rich list.
Thanks to Link's connections, Jun Ji-hyun has secured considerable film and television resources in the South Korean entertainment industry. Her popularity has not declined this year; in fact, it's grown even higher.
Jun Ji-hyun also invested in several popular film and television dramas through J&Baker Entertainment Company, transforming from a pure actress into a film and television company's boss, envied by many in the industry.
Song Hye-kyo was envious too, not having to be exploited by an agency, not competing with other actresses in the company for resources, with autonomous independence and financial freedom, she had reached the upper echelon of the circle.
Unfortunately, without a backer like Link, she could only look on enviously for the time being.
"Ji-hyun, you should be careful. I've heard that Mr. Baker has gotten pretty close to a few members of Girls' Generation."
Song Hye-kyo said with a meaningful look as she glanced at several young girls not too far away.
"It's fine, they're just normal friends with Link Oppa."
Jun Ji-hyun shrugged her shoulders indifferently.
But when she looked at Link in the boxing ring, a hint of worry flashed in her eyes.
In reality, she and Link were just friends and had not slept together.
However, the waters of the South Korean entertainment industry run deep. As a female actress wanting to establish herself and further develop her career, she had to have a strong backer. Otherwise, she would be devoured by the capital as a fat lamb.
After establishing J&Baker Entertainment, to rid herself of unnecessary trouble and harassment, whenever asked about the rumors with Link, she would shyly deny them, insisting they were just good friends.
When chatting with her 'friends,' she would admit to having a somewhat intimate relationship with Link, and through these friends, the nature of her relationship with Link would be spread.
This led the South Korean media to repeatedly report the romance between her and Link, asserting with certainty that they were intimately involved and calling her Link's South Korean lover.
This also kept those coveting her at bay due to their wariness of Link, not daring to harm her.
She also leveraged her connection with Link to secure many film and television resources, and J&Baker Entertainment solidified its footing in South Korea and made some money.
That was the good side.
What worried her was that her relationship with Link was still just at the friendship level.
If Link found out about this or if Link simply referred to her as a normal friend when others asked about their relationship, and her lie was exposed, she would face more trouble and might not even be able to remain friends with Link.
Jun Ji-hyun stared absently at Link in the boxing ring, considering whether to come clean to Link or perhaps, while Link Oppa was in South Korea, take their relationship further?
Ding ding ding!
A minute's rest passed, and the second round of the match began.
Link walked to the center of the ring with his fists raised, quietly observing his opponent Hopkins, who'd taken a couple of punches, one cheekbone swollen and shiny with petroleum jelly, the left corner of his mouth and brow bone also reddened and swollen, and a scrape on the shoulder, indicating he wasn't lightly hurt.
But the fact that Hopkins was able to endure it into the second round had already exceeded his expectations, so in the following match, he would not hold back anymore and would try to end the match as soon as possible.
"Hmph!"
Hopkins also glared back fiercely, knocking his fist against his bald head as a show of defiance.
"Boxing!"
The ring referee waved to signal the start of the second round.
Link didn't care whether Hopkins would go on the offense or defense this round; as soon as the referee announced the start, he charged at Hopkins with punches, combining Straight Punches + Left Swing Punches + Right Swing Punches + Right Straight Punches with super-fast speed and powerful force.
He threw 20 punches within 8 seconds, two of which solidly hit Hopkins's head.
Seeing him rush over, Hopkins managed to exchange a few hard blows at first. But after taking a couple of hits, his head felt like it was smashed by a hammer, his mind going mushy, leaving him dazed, seeing double of everything.
"Bernard, guard up!"
Someone shouted from below. Hopkins didn't dare to exchange blows any longer and kept his arms tightly around his head to prevent Link from striking again.
But it was too late. As he prepared to defend, Link delivered a ferocious Upper Hook Punch from below, slamming hard into Hopkins's chin.
Crack!
Struck in the chin, Hopkins shot upwards, then his brain jolted, his vision went pitch black, and before he could react, his knees gave in and he knelt on the canvas, his head plunging forward and hitting the surface with a thud.
"Stop!"
The referee rushed over to push Link away, preventing him from throwing any additional punches.
Link had no intention of throwing more punches either, as he stepped back two paces and watched Hopkins intently.
The cheers of the audience rose from below.
"8,7,6,5,4..."
This time, counting down to four, Hopkins propped himself up on the canvas and stood once more, his body swaying.
The referee asked him if he could continue the fight.
Hopkins glared at Link with fierce eyes and through his mouthguard said he could.
"Boxing!"
The referee announced that the fight would continue.
Link didn't plan to give his opponent a chance to recover. While the other was still dizzy, he charged forward, with left hook punches and right hook punches, left swing punches and right swing punches, smashing punch after punch against Hopkins's defensive arms.
After being knocked down three times, Hopkins was nowhere near his former condition; his footwork was sloppy and his defense full of holes.
Link needed only five punches to break his opponent's defense, and the sixth punch, a swing punch, landed heavily on Hopkins's right cheek.
Bam!
Hopkins hit the canvas again.
"Well done!"
Below the ring, Franco stood up abruptly, clapping forcefully.
"This jerk, he's too brutal!"
Hoyle, with a dark expression, looked towards Link. He had thought that after special training, Hopkins would last several more rounds with Link, but the fight had barely reached the second round and Hopkins had already been knocked down four times, each time worse than the last.
In other words, all the preparation they did before the match was for nothing, completely wasted effort.
"Hoyle, where's that surefire tactic you prepared for Hopkins? Don't tell me that's it."
Eddie Hearn said with disappointment.
Hoyle didn't respond. Before the match, the coaching team had prepared many sneaky tricks for Hopkins to use against Link.
Just now, Hopkins had attempted a few dirty tricks, but Link's reaction speed was too fast, and he handled them adeptly. No matter what Hopkins tried, he couldn't injure him.
This left Hoyle feeling helpless; Link was too strong. Whether fighting fairly or underhandedly, he thoroughly overpowered Hopkins.
Coming up against such an opponent was simply despairing.
"Wow!"
Suddenly, there came a deafening shout from the stands. Hoyle's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked up at the ring, where he saw Hopkins leaning on Link's shoulder, winding up and fiercely slamming his fist down on Link's head.
"Is this your masterstroke? Isn't this a bit too much?"
Eddie Hearn exclaimed in surprise.
"Damn it, you can't fight like that, this is boxing, not mixed martial arts!"
Franco exclaimed angrily.
Hoyle too looked puzzledly towards the ring, completely at a loss as to why Hopkins would resort to such blatant foul play, when suddenly a thought struck him and he realized Hopkins's intention.
