Dominate the Super Bowl

Chapter 1155: 1154 Airport Encounter

Chatter, chatter, like a thousand sparrows having a party.

Then, amid the commotion, came the lazy and slightly deep voice of Li Wei.

"Wembley is the home ground of the England national team. Tottenham Hotspur only rented Wembley as a temporary home ground for the 2017 to 2018 season because White Hart Lane was being rebuilt. They already left Wembley for their new stadium this April. It's not the home of any professional team. I think all of you should shut up before you accidentally reveal how little you know."

One second, two seconds—

"Wow, no wonder you're the professor. You know all that."

"Professor, honestly, did you search this up beforehand?"

"So what's special about Wembley?"

A pause, and the teasing surged.

"Don't let me know you. You're too ignorant."

"Haha, shut up or you'll offend all the England fans."

Collective laughter, noisy and relentless.

Li Wei looked helplessly at Mahomes, who couldn't stop smiling, "Sherlock, you should adjust your sleep cycle."

Mahomes… was too excited to stop.

After resting for three weeks and recovering from his injury, he was finally able to fight alongside the team again, which made Mahomes highly motivated; and this game happened to be at the London Bowl, so Mahomes was eager and ready for a big showdown.

But Li Wei was worried Mahomes was too excited.

Mahomes chuckled twice, glanced around at everyone else's expressions, and stealthily leaned closer to Li Wei, whispering, "Actually, this is my first time going abroad."

"I heard you have to go through customs and stuff; should we prepare in advance?"

Li Wei was taken aback: So that's it.

Think about it seriously, it's not surprising, in his early twenties, full of curiosity, full of imagination about the world, and finally about to step onto the international stage, just like the first time he ate McDonalds as a child.

A smile crept up on his lips, and Li Wei leaned in slightly, whispering, "Don't worry, more than half of the players on the team are traveling abroad for the first time. Just follow the instructions during customs, the team will take care of everything."

Mahomes exhaled a long breath, nodded repeatedly, his smile fully blossoming.

"Rookie, tell me, what's London like? Is it the same as New York?"

The words hadn't even landed when a shrill scream pierced the air—

"Rookie! Ahhh, ahhh!"

The whole arrival hall was abuzz, eyes all gathered around.

A blonde girl with a ponytail was screaming with all her might, her rosy cheeks like apples, trembling all over.

When NFL teams travel for away games, they typically don't hide much. Travelers at airports or stations don't usually make a big fuss, and there isn't a fervent fan culture even when recognized; just a cheer or two, rarely disturbing the players—

The real enthusiasm usually happens around the stadium or training ground.

The fan culture here exists, but not to the extent of Asia.

So, you often see tall, sturdy professional players pushing luggage carts through the check-in hall, chatting and laughing as they head to board, without a swarm of men in black suits acting as security blocking the way.

This time was no different.

After Kansas City Chiefs players landed in New York, their checked luggage had been automatically transferred, but they still needed to carry their hand luggage, transferring from domestic to international flights and going through customs and security checks.

The distance wasn't far, so the players walked themselves.

Then this scene happened.

In an instant, all the bustling eyes swept towards Li Wei.

Today, dressed in a simple hoodie and shorts, paired with a black Kansas City Chiefs baseball cap, Li Wei was very low-key, but his tall figure easily stood out in the crowd.

The next second, the airport came alive.

"Rookie, fight on!"

"Professor, a girl's confessing to you, how will you respond?"

"Good luck at the London Game!"

"Undefeated season, undefeated season! Go!"

"Fly high!"

All kinds of cheers and calls surged from every corner, once again revealing Li Wei's popularity in New York, rivaling his status in Kansas City.

Hill was the first to shout, "What about me? What about me?"

The air quieted a little.

Then Li Wei pinched his throat and shouted, "Cheetah! I love you!"

Hill instantly perked up, pumped his fist, and looked around for his admirer. After a round, he saw Mahomes trying to stifle his laughter, was momentarily stunned, and then glared at Li Wei's innocent and composed face, realizing what happened.

"Rookie, you!"

Hill lunged at Li Wei.

Unexpectedly, Li Wei didn't dodge but simply extended his hand to stop Hill, "Image, mind your image."

One sentence had Hill quieting down instantly, secretly glancing at the eyes all around, finally gritting his teeth and silently cursing Li Wei.

The scene was hilariously entertaining.

Continuously, cheers, support chants, and heartfelt confessions for Li Wei flooded the air with excitement.

Considering the flight wasn't due yet, Li Wei decided to stop and step forward, a habit developed after meeting Annie Gallas—

For him, maybe it's just three to five minutes, a small gesture; but for these fans, it might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

So, Li Wei tried to repay their support within his ability.

Autographs. Photos. Hugs.

A small gesture that could have a profound impact.

"Hey, Li Wei, wonderful game, from the readers of 'Horse & Hound' supporting you!"

Among the noise, a crisp and lively voice with a hint of playfulness and humor emerged.

Li Wei paused slightly, looking up through the crowd for the voice, and then he saw, the girl in the New York Yankees baseball cap—

Talia Ryder.

Clearly, this was a surprise, Li Wei hadn't expected to meet Talia here at all.

Reflexively, Li Wei looked around, trying to see if Talia was accompanied or alone, but quickly realized he wasn't awake; even if she came with friends, he wouldn't recognize them.

Smiling, Li Wei looked back at Talia.

"Is that quote from 'Notting Hill'?"

Talia's amber eyes sparked with light, "You know this movie?"

Li Wei retorted, "Isn't this what I should ask? When it aired, you probably weren't even born yet."

"Notting Hill" is a classic romantic comedy film released in 1999, where Julia Roberts plays a Hollywood star who falls in love with Hugh Grant's character, a bookseller in Notting Hill.

Meanwhile, "Horse & Hound" magazine was the one Hugh Grant's character pretended to work for to conceal his identity.

Talia playfully winked, "So are you going to Notting Hill this time?"

Li Wei burst into laughter, "Probably won't have time."

Talia showed a disappointed look.

Li Wei, "So, now you're Hugh Grant and I'm Julia Roberts?"

Talia giggled again, "If you don't mind, I don't mind, Mr. Superstar."

"Haha." Li Wei laughed heartily, seeing the brightness in Talia's eyes, the laughter overflowed, "Thank you for not blurting out that classic confession from the bookstore towards the end of the movie."
