Chapter 24: Lies
[This is before some of the other chapters, just forgot about it whoops.]
The guild hall was bustling with many conversations as Zen and Rasera return from their first training session.
Rasera: Good evening
Rasera: What a day!
Zen: Are you fucking kidding me?
Rasera: Uhh, sorry?
Zen: My trainer's an idiot.
Rasera: That's unfortunate.
Rasera: My trainer is very intense.
Zen: He doesn't know how to teach people properly.
Zen: Aren't you with a master healer?
Rasera: Yeah, he lives just outside the city.
Zen: Hey. Did you know?
Rasera: I can see why he does though, the training space is great.
Zen: Yonny works at a club under here.
Rasera: I did not know that.
Zen: I saw her when I was with my trainer.
Rasera: Well, if she's still doing it, then she made her choice.
Rasera: Can't say I agree with the decision, but it's hers to make.
Rasera: Hey did she escort you to your trainer, Zen?
Yonny: No, Why?
Rasera: Oh. Hello Yonny.
Zen: I just left. I went to find a trainer on my own.
Yonny: Hi Rasera, Zen...
Zen: 'Sup bitch.
Yonny turns around.
Conn: Zen, no need for that.
Zen: Bruh. Stop being a simp. She's a slut.
Rasera: It's her decision, Zen. I'm sure she knows what she's doing.
Conn: I don't believe what anyone says.
Zen: Rasera, you definitely know it as well, right?
Conn: From what I can tell, she's trying to survive by any means.
Conn: And she works her hardest.
Rasera: I don't know what to believe, if I'm honest.
Zen: Have you heard what they've been calling her around town?
Zen: The MCD?
Rasera: Tch. Yes, I've heard people called her that, among-st other things.
Zen: I didn't believe it at first, but I saw her in action when I was with my trainer.
Rasera: Every story has multiple plot lines, we just don't always hear every line.
Conn: I don't care what she's done.
Conn: I believe what I believe.
Rasera: In the end, it is her choice to make.
Conn: I think she's a great person and nothing can change that.
Rasera: And I won't partake in the name calling until I have the story straight,
Zen: Suit yourself.
Conn: Anyways, I'm going to sleep.
Conn: I don't want to hear anymore nonsense, good night.
Rasera: That being said, the vast number of name calling has me uneasy.
Zen: But you also have heard right?
Rasera: yes
Zen: She doesn't touch you if you insult her.
Rasera: She has no reason to touch me currently.
Rasera: So I'll save it for when it's necessary.
Rasera: But a cautious berth might be in order for now.
Rasera: I suggest you do the same.
Rasera: Should it be necessary.
Zen: Nah.
Rasera: Good night, traveler.
Zen: You too.
Rasera: Conn, did you meet your trainer today?
Conn: I met him yesterday, but I didn't get much help from him.
Conn: How about you?
Rasera: I wanted to meet up with him, but he wouldn't answer his door.
Rasera: I heard he gives some sort of trial, but I didn't think hide and seek was gonna be it.
Rasera: Anyways, I searched all over, but I just didn't end up finding him.
Rasera: Either he was inside and just mocking me, or I messed up somewhere.
Conn: hmm do you mind if I come with you next time?
Conn: I happen to be quite agile so that might help.
Rasera: You trust Yonny, right? At least superficially?
Conn: I do.
Rasera: She told me the trial is meant to be done alone.
[Why the fuck you lying mmm ]
Rasera: Something about healers need to be strong and independent on their own terms.
Rasera: So if this hide and seek is the trial, then I need to do it myself.
Conn: I see.
Zen: What's this bickering, I hear down here?
Conn: No bickering, just two friends having a discussion.
Rasera: No bickering, just gossip.
Zen: Right...
Conn: Unlike you, we have each other's back.
Zen: If you guys are friends, then why don't you train together?
Rasera: we were.
Rasera: Up until this morning when we went to meet our trainers.
Zen: What about now?
Zen: Go to your trainer with Conn.
Zen: What's so bad about Conn?
Rasera: Nothing is wrong with Conn.
Rasera: I just need to prove something for myself.
Zen: mmmhmmmm.
Zen: See that's how I felt.
Rasera: How hard can it be to find someone in a forest anyways?
Rasera: It might take a few days, but I'm sure I'll figure this out.
Zen: Well, I don't think I need a hopeless trainer anymore.
Rasera: You must've learned quite a lot to feel that way about your trainer.
Zen: I learnt how to do office work.
Rasera: now please Zen. I'm not here to pick fights. We're suppose to be helping this city and its populace.
Zen: Helping? Why would we be helping? Were you born here?
Rasera: Do you intend to rule over them instead? I don't think those people would like that kind of thinking.
Rasera: A prosperous nation yields benefits to everyone, and us doing our part in that is one of the greatest things we can offer.
Zen: You weren't even born here, Rasera.
Rasera: That doesn't matter. I chose to reserve judgement until I've heard enough of the story.
Zen: I've heard enough of the story, the corrupt business behind the nobles and the royals.
Rasera: I'll keep your words in mind, Zen.
Rasera: But don't hold onto the faith that I will heed them until I find out more.
Zen: No worries. I just hope you won't attack me in the future.
Rasera: Should the truth shine favour upon you, then we may see our goals align.
Rasera: Good night again, Zen.
...
...
...
[Okay. Now this is where this chapter is suppose to start after the last one. ]
Rasera: Good morning world.
Rasera: Time to head out for another adventure.
Conn: Good morning, Rasera!
Conn: I am going to go do the same!
Zen: It's noon huh?
Zen: Hey Rasera! You here?
Rasera: Oh, hello Zen. I have good news. I found my trainer earlier today.
Rasera: He wants me to spend some time outside the city, so I'm just packing some clothes for a longer stay.
Zen: Where's Conn?
Rasera: I don't know where Conn is. I left early this morning and I hadn't seen him.
Rasera: Last I saw him, he was heading to the training grounds late last night.
Zen: Right.
Zen: I'm suppose to believe that?
Rasera: You're entitled to believe whatever you want.
Rasera: But you've given me no reason to lie to you so far.
Zen: So you're going on a trip huh?
Rasera: That's right. Sorry Zen, I don't want to keep him waiting too long. You understand, of course.
Zen: You're probably going to need some money.
Zen throws a small bag of coins at Rasera. Rasera catches the bag in his hands.
Rasera: uhh, thanks I guess.
Zen: Good luck out there.
Rasera: You too, Zen.
Speed: Time to go training I guess. Need my eyes sharpened as an archer.
