Chapter 417: Leaving the Valley
Hua Jin didn't know about all this, as she slept sweetly in the room and was awakened by the noisy sounds the next morning. After getting up, she found the courtyard was full of people, all were young men and uncles from the village.
At this moment, they were all craning their necks to look under the western courtyard shed, where the voices of Grandpa and Dad were occasionally heard.
It turned out that they were teaching everyone how to refine saltpeter. Hua Jin listened for a moment but lost interest, then returned to the space to wash up and find her mother.
The bustling sound continued for more than half an hour, and then the courtyard finally quieted down.
Hua Chengtian gulped several mouthfuls of water before he let out a breath, then closed his eyes.
Being surrounded by so many people and caught in a noisy atmosphere so early in the morning, his brain was about to explode.
If not for understanding everyone's feelings, he would have already lost patience and driven them away.
"Dad, let's go down the mountain this afternoon," the daughter's voice drew Hua Chengtian's attention back, and he opened his eyes.
"Down the mountain? Back to the village?" Hua Chengtian was taken aback for a moment, then reacted quickly, understanding her daughter's meaning.
"Yes, yes," Hua Jin nodded. It's been nearly four months since the last visit to Hua Village. The promised rewards haven't been delivered for a long time.
Now that the problem with using ice in the valley has been solved, she was in a good mood and suddenly wanted to go down the mountain and take a look.
There are those kids too. Although preparations were made for them when leaving, they came for her, making Hua Jin somewhat concerned.
"It's time to take a look," Hua Chengtian nodded.
From his daughter's words, Hua Chengtian had already learned that the village has changed a lot, building a tall wall where Qin Shu's family and a group of children live. He hadn't had the chance to visit, but now that his daughter was calling him, Hua Changtian was genuinely interested and agreed without much thought.
"After lunch, let's go," Hua Jin immediately said. They could reach Hua Village just in time for the night.
"Alright, but why did my daughter think of Dad this time?" Hua Chengtian squeezed his chin and squinted at Hua Jin, feeling quite pleasantly surprised.
You should know that this child usually went alone, just because she disliked their slow pace.
"Dad, I suddenly realized..." Hua Jin became a bit embarrassed as she spoke to this point.
It made Hua Chengtian amused, it seemed like a long time since he saw this expression on his daughter.
"Realized what?" he immediately asked.
"It's just... I can let Dad into the space in advance, so there's no need to worry about the speed issue."
Besides, this time she's not just going back to Hua Village, but also wants to go to town, the county seat, or even the city or farther places.
She bears the blessed land space. Although she and her family can live well, that dream from a few months ago served as a warning this time, and the constant feeling of unease made Hua Jin feel like she should do something.
Even though she had a bit of a savior complex, her heart couldn't bear it, thinking that saving as many people as possible, especially soldiers, would better resist the invasion of barbarians in the future, making their side safer.
This is also why Hua Jin wants to go to the city; Dad likes driving, so in the space it's not satisfying, but letting Dad go out can be fulfilling.
It's definitely not because she's lazy!
"Yes, right!" Hua Chengtian clapped his hands, wondering why he didn't remember it. He can enter the child's blessed land space in advance, so there's no need to worry about slowing down.
Look at this, such an important matter wasn't even thought of.
"Isn't that right, Dad, get ready, after lunch we'll set off, and also—"
"What?" Hua Chengtian raised his eyebrows, looking at his daughter with noticeably flattering eyebrows and feeling a sense of foreboding.
Sure enough...
"You also need to notify Grandpa and Grandma, mom's side, that I need to go back and prepare too, Dad... might be out for a few days..." Giving Dad a heads-up, Hua Jin cheerfully ran back to her room, leaving Hua Chengtian looking dumbfounded.
Just knowing this... thinking about his wife's temper, Hua Chengtian had a headache.
The child probably doesn't want to listen to her wife's nagging and brought him along.
Hua Chengtian felt like he discovered the truth.
Then, unsurprisingly, he was scolded by his wife. Even though Hua Jin was in her room behind several walls, she heard it clearly and secretly felt grateful.
She increasingly felt that taking Dad out was a good idea and immediately decided to bring Dad along whenever she went out in the future. What a great shield!
During lunch, Hua Jin still got her mother's loving gaze but thankfully didn't say much.
Grandparents also gave her careful instructions, probably because of several safe returns before, and now Dad is tagging along.
Shortly after lunch, when everyone was napping, Hua Annai was worried as she watched the father and daughter leave the valley.
Once they left the valley's range, Hua Jin sent Dad back to the space, just in time for the livestock pens to be tidied up.
Free from concerns, Hua Jin sped away quickly, ignoring the scorching sun above her, fully immersing herself in nature, disappearing like an arrow across the mountain ranges, arriving at the foot of Qinggu Mountain behind Hua Village at nightfall.
Wow, she was startled again.
Haven't been here for months, and the wall has grown taller again!
Looking at the high wall, Hua Jin thought dazedly, suddenly feeling like her rewards were still a bit low, considering the immense effort surrounding Hua Village's large wall. She immediately decided to take more things out when visiting Qin's family later.
The wall is high, but it can't stop Hua Jin, her light-as-smoke body only needs a few momentums to float over it.
Once inside the wall, she released Dad from the space where he was watching TV.
Switching from a bright space to a pitch-black night, Hua Chengtian blinked several times before slowly getting used to it.
"Are we here?" Gazing at the tall wall from the previous year, Hua Chengtian opened his mouth in amazement, even though he had learned from his daughter that Qin's father and son lived in Hua Village and helped build the wall, such height was truly unexpected.
"We're here, Dad, what do you think?" Hua Jin proudly stretched her chin, not knowing someone might think she built the wall herself.
"Good, very good," Hua Chengtian involuntarily approached the wall, pushing with his palm, but it was immovable, as solid as it appeared.
Hua Jin didn't rush him, letting Dad thoroughly inspect and enjoy it.
Then, amidst Hua Chengtian's admiration, the father and daughter walked towards Qin's family behind the village.
"Brother Qin Shu..."
Li Shi came out of the kitchen and swept her gaze toward the gate direction, surprised to hear a familiar voice and then joyfully called out to the men in the living room.
"Father, Brother Shu, Sister Hua Jin is here."
Qin Lu, who was helping with the fire, already rushed to the courtyard to open the gate, and both Qin Dagen and Qin Shu came out almost as fast, their eyes showing joy and worry.
Who dares walk outside these days? Hua Jin's girl is truly brave.
Worried so much that Qin Shu eagerly looked at the person at the door as soon as his second brother opened it, making him oblivious to how his clothes were dampened again.
