Chapter 306: Chapter 303: The Sword of Rupture (Bonus Chapter)
"I didn't expect you to have such a big secret. The name 'Sword of the King' really isn't just for show… It's a shame the time isn't right yet."
In the study at Neuschwanstein Castle, Josh played with the Broken Steel Sword, quietly sighing in his heart after returning home.
A human civilization from over a hundred thousand years ago.
A teleportation device that leads to other planets.
These two facts had taken Josh some time to process and made him take the ancient underground ruin in the Java Islands even more seriously.
But that was it.
Josh didn't try to activate the teleportation device right away.
What if the other side noticed the signal and launched a counter-invasion of Earth, starting another "Battle of New York" like the one in the 21st century?
And don't say "we're all human."
Even in the 21st century, countries are still fighting each other.
Not to mention a human civilization that left Earth over 100,000 years ago and evolved alongside an alien race.
There's no telling how advanced their technology is by now.
You might see them as your kin, but to them, you're just a primitive monkey.
Even though Josh was now very powerful, he wasn't strong enough to risk a war between star-level civilizations.
If anything went wrong, the price would be too high.
Neither Josh nor Earth could afford to take that risk.
Putting down the Broken Steel Sword, Josh picked up the other sword nearby—the one made from the bodies of Ikaris and the two other Eternals, forged with Tiamat's Cosmic Power.
After rejecting Tiamat's idea of using the sword to kill herself, this weapon—originally made for that purpose—ended up in Josh's hands.
"You can kill a Celestial. I need to give you a name that sounds strong and epic."
Gently swinging the sword and sensing how even the space around it seemed to ripple, Josh smiled in satisfaction.
A sword that could kill a Celestial and even tear through space—of course it's not going to be weaker than something like the Casket of Ancient Winters, Mjolnir, or Gungnir.
He didn't believe it for a second.
"A Celestial is like a planet. So if you can kill one, that's almost like splitting a world apart. Since I already have the Broken Steel Sword, I'll call you Rupture. The Sword of Rupture, Star of Creation."
Josh thought about it for a moment and quickly gave the sword its name.
Even though the sword "Rupture" was originally wielded by Gilgamesh in another world, that had nothing to do with the Gilgamesh who had recently been killed by Xu Wenwu.
Josh didn't care about little details like that.
And honestly, the name "Rupture" really suited the sword.
Maybe because the sword was made by Tiamat, and Josh was her chosen champion, the weapon instinctively recognized him as its true master.
After Josh named it, the sword let out a soft hum, and a mysterious power flowed from the blade into Josh's body, filling him with strength.
At the same time, a golden battle suit with a cloak appeared on his body—almost like a Golden Saint Cloth from a fantasy world.
Walking over to the mirror in the study, Josh stared at his reflection in shock.
…Wow. So this sword can auto-equip armor like Mjolnir?
Does this mean I can start calling myself a god now?
He couldn't help but mutter in his heart.
But honestly, that thought wasn't far off.
To give this sword the power to kill a Celestial, Tiamat had poured a massive amount of her own Cosmic Energy into it.
The Celestials, as powerful beings of the universe, are naturally far stronger than planetary gods like Odin or Thor—of course, this only applies to Odin and Thor in their normal forms. Special versions like Rune King Thor or All-Father Thor from the comics don't count here.
And even though Tiamat was still in her dormant state, much like A'lar in the Warcraft universe, her connection to Earth gave her far greater potential than a typical Celestial.
If she had fully awakened, she would've at least reached the level of Arishem, one of the strongest Celestials.
So, with Josh now wielding the sword infused with Tiamat's Cosmic Power, his strength might not yet match a fully awakened Thor at his peak, but he was definitely stronger than Thor when he first appeared—and maybe even by a good margin.
Sensing the overwhelming power flowing through Josh, the Broken Steel Sword, which had been resting nearby, began to tremble.
That had never happened before.
Compared to the Sword of Rupture, the Broken Steel Sword might still be a powerful weapon with a long history of strong wielders—but the gap between them was massive.
And as cosmic energy surged through Josh's body, a stream of information began to flood his mind.
These new memories and skills came from the Sword of Rupture—or more accurately, from the three Eternals whose bodies had been used to forge it.
Elegant and precise combat techniques—from Sersi.
Powerful energy blasts, flight, and advanced bodily control—from Ikaris.
Illusion-casting abilities—from Sprite.
With all this information pouring into his head, Josh felt both regretful and relieved.
He regretted being too greedy with the Eternals' bodies—he had only given Sersi and Sprite's remains to Tiamat, keeping the others for himself.
What if he had handed them all over?
How much more powerful could the sword have been?
But the sword was already forged—there was no going back.
He wasn't about to drag the rest of the Eternal bodies to Tiamat and ask her to remake the sword, especially since she had used up so much of her energy forging the current one and was now in a deep slumber.
Even Josh had his limits.
He wasn't heartless enough to wake up the one being who trusted him—just to rebuild the weapon meant to kill her.
What he was grateful for, though, was that the Ancient One had sent Ikaris to him.
If not, Josh would definitely be crying right now.
Ancient One… what a great person.
It felt just like when Tony Stark first built his new Iron Man suit in the movies.
When you've got a new weapon and new powers, you've got to test them out.
But this sword's power was way beyond any early Iron Man suit.
And because of how dangerous and destructive it was, Earth definitely wasn't the right place for testing.
What if he accidentally hurt Tiamat while she was still asleep?
Josh cared deeply for Tiamat now.
He couldn't bear to see her hurt in any way.
Then he looked up and noticed the bright, full moon in the sky.
Wait… isn't today the Mid-Autumn Festival in China?
People are out there cutting mooncakes…
Am I really about to go cut the moon?
...Yikes.
