Chapter 188: 188: Evolved Groribas
Especially for hot-blooded young men like Genos, after the alien ship bombarded City A, he had already marked these aliens as the murderers of hundreds of thousands of civilians.
Forget a minor leader like Groribas—if Boros himself showed up in front of him, Genos would attack without hesitation. Whether he could win or not was another matter entirely.
Blazing flames engulfed the massive cocoon in an instant. While it clearly had some resistance to fire, under such extreme heat, it still began to melt.
Just when it was about to be burned through, the evolved Groribas finally woke up.
"Energy Absorption!"
After evolving, Groribas transformed from a vaguely humanoid figure into a blob of black sludge, not unlike crude oil.
Yet when Genos' incineration flames reached its body, they were immediately absorbed by the black goo, as if the extreme heat was its favorite food.
"Dodge it!"
Bang's expression changed drastically, but before his warning had even finished, the "sludge monster" countered by launching the flames back at Genos.
"Battle Protection Device!"
Child Emperor reacted just in time, deploying a transparent "umbrella" shield that absorbed the blast like a protective dome.
"Heh heh heh… You've actually pushed me far enough to use this move. Not bad, you bunch of primitive monkeys!"
Despite being surrounded by multiple S-Class heroes, the sludge monster didn't look concerned in the slightest. As Groribas' pride and trump card, its evolved form boasted more than three times the original combat power.
Even against Boros, it could hold out for a few minutes—assuming Boros was still wearing the armor that suppressed his strength.
"Hurry up! Swift Flash is still waiting for our support!"
Zombie Man spoke up to remind everyone. They had already spent quite a bit of time dealing with Melzargard and the rest of the space pirates—and now this grotesque sludge creature looked like another serious hassle.
And this was just a minion. Who knew how powerful their leader truly was?
If they didn't speed things up, they might not even finish off the sludge before Kizaru was overwhelmed on his end.
"You don't need to tell me that!"
Tatsumaki's hair floated upward without wind, a sure sign that her immense psychic power was about to burst forth and crush the enemy into dust.
"Heh heh heh heh! Don't get cocky! I'll admit you did well to defeat Melzargard, but if you think this level of strength is enough to face me, you're dreaming!"
Groribas's personality seemed to change after its transformation—more talkative, more arrogant.
This was exactly why it rarely chose to evolve. Sure, its strength increased massively, but if it ever slipped up and said something inappropriate in front of Lord Boros, it would absolutely be executed.
"Tch, one of your buddies was already eliminated, and another was casually taken out by Swift Flash. You're next!"
Atomic Samurai sneered dismissively. At this point, they still knew very little about the aliens. If taunting them could squeeze out some useful intel, all the better.
"That fool Melzargard couldn't even hide his own weaknesses. He deserved to die. But don't think for a second that I'm in the same league as that idiot!"
The sludge monster let out a grotesque laugh. While all of the top-level combatants were technically of equal rank, both it and Geryuganshoop had always looked down on the not-so-bright Melzargard.
"Either way, you're all finished. From the moment you invaded this planet, no matter how strong you are, we'll wipe you out completely!"
Genos's eyes blazed like twin furnaces. To the justice-driven demon cyborg, these aliens—responsible for tens of thousands of deaths—deserved to be eradicated a thousand times over.
"Heh heh heh heh… Are you trying to make me laugh myself to death? Before you spout such nonsense, let me educate you a bit about our great leader—the undefeated, invincible conqueror of the universe, Lord Boros…"
Apparently amused by Genos's righteous fury, the sludge monster's gelatinous body shook like waves as it burst into laughter.
Just as it was preparing to "educate" the primitives before it—about the terrifying force that had its sights set on them—a sudden crash rang out as the bottom of the alien mothership burst open above them.
Bang!
Suddenly, a figure plummeted from the sky at astonishing speed, slamming into the ruins below with enough force to reduce a collapsed building's remains into dust.
"That couldn't be…"
Child Emperor gulped nervously. The figure had fallen so fast that he hadn't even gotten a good look at who it was.
The other S-Class heroes weren't any better. Even though Kizaru had shown some of his abilities before boarding the ship, it still took time for people to truly accept someone's strength.
Before this, more than a few S-Class heroes thought they were stronger than Kizaru.
And now, seeing someone hurled from the spaceship, even Tatsumaki looked tense.
"Heheheheh… Looks like it's settled. Even the warrior of prophecy can't compare to Lord Boros—eh?"
The slime-like alien laughed smugly, but before it could finish, several sharp-eyed S-Class heroes had already spotted Kizaru casually running out of the hole in the spaceship, stepping on thin air with Moonwalk.
In other words—Kizaru was still in the sky.
Which meant the person who just fell…
"Lord Boros!"
The slime creature was utterly shaken. It had never imagined a day would come when Lord Boros—the ultimate being it worshipped—would fall into the losing side of a battle.
And not just lose, but get blasted out of the spaceship. Did he not even get a chance to fight back?
BOOM!
Before the dust had even settled, the rubble suddenly exploded outward. A massive, muscular figure let out an exhilarated roar as he shot back up into the air—straight toward Kizaru.
Boros was thrilled. The prophecy he had chased for over twenty years had not let him down.
The warrior it foretold was even stronger than he'd imagined. Even after removing his power-restraining armor, he still wasn't Kizaru's match.
"Your skull's made of steel, huh… Flash Armament: Divine Speed Kick!"
Kizaru didn't flinch. As Boros charged straight at him, he calmly wrapped his leg in jet-black Armament Haki—then unleashed a thunderous, lightning-like kick that blasted Boros downward once again.
He needed to change his mindset.
This guy's physique was leagues stronger than Kaido's, and as Boros continued to draw on his internal energy, his power was still climbing.
If Kizaru didn't get serious soon, there really was a risk of slipping up… assuming Boros could keep pushing his limits.
BAM—BOOM!
This time, Boros didn't form a crater on impact—because of the angle, he skidded across the ground for several hundred meters, carving a long trench before finally smashing into a section of rubble and coming to a stop.
"L-Lord Boros… That can't be right! I must be seeing things!"
The slime alien was completely stunned. If it had first thought Boros had just been careless, it could no longer deny the truth—not after seeing him knocked from the sky again by the warrior of prophecy.
His faith crumbled. The almighty Boros it once revered couldn't even beat a primitive native from this backwater planet?
Sure, the warrior of prophecy was supposed to be strong—but this was ridiculous! Was this even real?
"Now's my chance! Take him down!"
The closest to Boros now was Metal Bat. His eyes lit up. Always the type to throw himself into battle headfirst, he didn't hesitate for a second—he hoisted his bat and charged.
If he could be the one to take down the alien boss, he'd be the hero who resolved a God-level threat. Maybe he wouldn't become Rank 1 in the Hero Association overnight, but he'd definitely leapfrog that annoying Flash.
Maybe even bump that brat Tatsumaki down a notch too. And since Blast never bothered with him, he'd be fine settling for the No.2 spot…
"Out of my way!"
But before he could finish that thought, Boros—now back on his feet—didn't even spare him a glance. He casually swung his fist and sent Metal Bat flying several hundred meters, smashing him through ruins until he lay motionless in a heap.
One effortless blow to KO an S-Class hero famous for his endurance—this was the real power of Boros, ruler of the universe.
The other S-Class heroes who had considered jumping in froze. Many of them were stronger than Metal Bat, but if he got one-shotted… how much better would they fare?
"Well done, Lord Boros!!"
Groribas nearly burst into tears. This was the Boros it remembered—invincible, unstoppable, unrivaled.
What was with that one-sided beating earlier? No way some low-tech native could outmatch the mighty Lord Boros!
"Don't rush in! That guy… he's not just stronger than us—he's on another level entirely!"
Sweat beaded on Bang's forehead as he shouted a warning. This terrifying pressure… could this really be the God-level threat foretold in Shibabawa's prophecy?
That thought had barely formed before Bang realized something else.
If the alien leader is this powerful, then how the hell is Swift Flssh holding his own against him—no, actually suppressing him?
According to the Hero Association's guidelines, God-level threats required all S-Class heroes working together to even have a chance. But what Bang was witnessing now was Flash going toe-to-toe with the alien leader alone.
Which could only mean one thing…
Flash is stronger than all of us combined?
"Groribas! Don't let irrelevant pests get in the way!"
Boros scanned the battlefield coldly.
He was already aware that Geryuganshoop had been killed by Kizaru—what he hadn't expected was that all his other subordinates were dead as well. Pathetic. Weaklings, all of them.
At least Groribas was still alive—and had even completed his transformation. That was enough for Boros. In his eyes, the newly evolved Groribas was still a decent plaything. Dealing with these primitive locals would be no trouble at all.
As long as his subordinates could still follow orders, Boros didn't care how many had died.
"Huh? Y-Yes, Lord Boros!"
Groribas quickly responded. Seeing that Lord Boros was still as fierce and overbearing as ever, it calmed his nerves.
Maybe he was just warming up earlier, Groribas thought. After all, this is the man who built armor to suppress his own power—just so he could enjoy a proper fight.
"Let's continue—Round Three! Energy Release Mode! HRAAAAHHH!!"
Boros couldn't hold back his roar any longer.
The energy within his body exploded forth, activating the transformation that chat group randos had once jokingly dubbed the "Super Saiyan" form.
"Interesting…"
Kizaru couldn't help but nod—Boros's power-up was even greater than he'd expected.
In that case… I guess I'll stop holding back so much. Let's say… 30%. No—make it 40%.
"Come on then. Let me feel the thrill of battle again—the rush I've been missing for so long…"
Boros launched himself at Kizaru like a meteor. Even Flash Flash, the fastest among the S-Class heroes, was horrified to realize—he couldn't even see Boros move anymore.
The alien leader's speed was on another level. Even if he surpass his limits—Flashy could barely keep track of Boros.
---
"Kami-e: Afterimage!"
Kizaru narrowed his eyes, his body going loose and fluid, like paper in the wind.
To Boros's shock, his supposedly unstoppable punch was effortlessly dodged—Kizaru shifted just slightly, almost lazily, and the attack whooshed past.
For a moment, Boros looked almost dazed.
The ruler of the galaxy, being toyed with like this?
Then came the flood of rage. Humiliation. Unwillingness to accept this reality.
He had searched for a worthy opponent for over twenty years—and even if he couldn't win, it shouldn't be this one-sided!
In a fit of fury, Boros's speed suddenly spiked again—catching even Kizaru off guard. The alien nearly landed a hit.
"Flash Dragon Uppercut!"
Kizaru had planned to continue testing the limits of his evasive techniques, but Boros refused to cooperate.
With a tinge of disappointment, Kizaru unleashed a brutal uppercut, sending Boros flying into the sky.
