Devouring Monarch: Rebirth of the Profane Phoenix

Chapter 516: Rubella Plains - A Strange Atmosphere

The moment their group arrived at the basin, Asura and Xavida ordered their troops to create a camp outside the plains to avoid upsetting the ones living there.

A beautiful place, with technology far ahead of its time, the inheritance of the dragon race. But what made Asura confused was the state of the villagers. When he and Xavida stepped into the plains, a strange scent and the sensation of magic flowed in the air, as if natural.

Asura believed it to be the normal situation of the basin, perhaps explaining the sparkling water, it's beautiful blue colour filled with millions of small ice and water elements dancing around happily.

These elements and motes of Mana would boost a person's health, and keep it clean without any parasites or diseases.

"Is this normal…" He muttered, before noticing Xavida's dilated pupils and her aggressive expression, showing her fangs.

"T-This is wrong, there's a strange, filthy magic covering up my dads' aura!"

When Xavida commented about the strange situation. Asura immediately, began channelling his inner vitality, spreading the purifying aura across their group. Verana and Verena would join them in a short while after helping the troops adapt.

The troops with Asura and Xavida were a group of Valkyrie, with Amalia leading them a few steps behind.

"Oh, the bad smell is going away."

Xavida's lips curled from a frown and snarl into a calm and delighted face once Asura started taking in the dirty magic into his body, and began to purify it.

[Father, that strange aura is bad! It's killing the leaves! Be careful not to absorb it too fast.]

Noir complained in his mind, but thanks to that, Asura's face relaxed, his brows dropped, and his lips returned to a faint smile.

'If this is the power of Mortis, then it will vanish if I cleanse it slowly.'

'I only hope it hasn't done anything to the villagers.'

The reason he worried, was due to the sensation he felt the moment the aura flowed into his chest, before the world tree and his vitality started purifying it.

As if something ordered him to work, to produce and be loyal to…

"Hah."

Asura shook his head, his spine tingling with an icy chill as he realised that it was a good idea to keep the troops out of the basin.

He and the stronger women might be fine.

But what about the army of two thousand knights, who would keep them safe and make sure they didn't go insane?

'Though we would win, wouldn't I have to kill my people, how foolish. Now that I am a King, that would be detrimental to Vela and our future as rulers.'

"What's the matter, Asura?" Xavida turned to him, her nose sniffing as her eyes observed his body, and a small smile appeared on her lips.

The next moment she jumped at him, and kissed his cheek, with a slight giggle. "Thank you."

Asura realised that Xavida could also see Mana and the strange particles in the air. With them gradually entering his body and then coming out purified into Mana that would enrich and help restore the basin, she kissed him.

"It's what must be done, this is your homeland."

"Hehe~ you're the best, darling. This place is something important to me and my dad."

She grabbed his arm, burying her face in his chest.

Though it wasn't an easy process, Asura could tell that Xavida probably understood that, she wasn't the naive girl he met a year ago, but a matured dragon.

"Shall we take it slow and walk around the basin, show me the places you like before we head to those small villages?"

The basin was huge, though it might take days or even weeks to walk from one side to the other, Asura could fly and cut the time down to a few hours. Because of the vast distance to travel, there was a village every five days travel on foot.

Though five days sounded a lot, over the many years, those villages have grown into small towns, and one even a city.

To the far east of the basin was a vast forest of shimmering trees with a vivid green hue, different from trees found in the wild, they shone with a magic and earth elementals lived in the soil beneath them.

'Those would be worshipped by the elves, definitely.'

Meanwhile, for their ores, created thanks to the constant baptism of dragon's breath over thousands, maybe tens of thousands of years. Experience more content on empire

The ore became enchanted, a special type of metal that could only be found here. A metal so scarce that one ingot would cost thousands of gold in other kingdoms. This was the reason that none of the other kingdoms attacked the Demon Empire without significant confidence.

Not only did they have a vast army of demons and wyverns in the past, but their weapons containing only a trace of Drag-Steel would destroy normal swords with ease.

"Asura~ I would be happy to go anywhere with you!"

Though he enjoyed Xavida's cute words, there was a sparkle in her eyes, clearly she gazed to the south, a place where all the previous dragons had visited upon reaching adulthood. The mines of Drag-Steel.

"Shall we go and use our dragons' breath on the minerals? Maybe you will make it even more enchanting, just like your beautiful little face."

"You…" Xavida pointed at Asura with a slight grin and a hand on her hip. "Don't seduce me, there's no more eggs to fertilise!"

Asura gazed at his little fiancée and couldn't help but burst into a full-blown laugh, her serious face, blushed cheeks and pink scales showing her embarrassment.

"D-Don't laugh at me!" Her cheeks puffed out as she crossed both arms under her breasts.

"Haha, I won't… I'm not laughing, you're just too cute, and it was too hard."

His chest began to hurt, holding in the laughter, while she peeked at him with her lovely sour face, it was too much. Though, he stepped closer, and closer, sneaking to her side before he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly.

"I don't mind if there are no eggs~ doesn't it feel good?"

His deep whisper caused her cheeks to turn dark pink, all of her scales and hair turning colour to match her changes.

Xavida could never hide her emotions, because of how her scales reacted to emotions, dragons with darker scales were lucky. When Asura blushed or felt embarrassed, the black scales would only change slightly, but as a white dragon. Her scales would show various colours, pink, purple, and even a light blue if she was scared.

Nnn~ don't try to seduce me, it won't work! ♡♡

The dragoness lied.

Her arms clung to his chest, as she looked like she bit into honey, her lips curled into a deep smile, as she fluttered her lashes at Asura.

Then she whispered, "when are we going to do it? ♡♡"

"…"

This time it was Asura who was caught of guard, coughing slightly, as his wings suddenly unfurled and flapped twice, lifting the pair into the air, avoiding the subject.

"Kyaa~ let's fly because Asura is embarrassed, ehehe."

'This naughty dragoness of mine is getting cheeky. I cannot lose to her.'
