Devouring Dragon Heir

Chapter 97: Ch 97 Damian vs Klaus -2

Damian stood in the small clearing, his expression was thoughtful as he looked around for new monsters to kill.

He was a young man of average height, with neatly combed dark hair and a serious gaze that held a peculiar sharpness.

He was wearing a simple, practical combat dress that allowed for free movement and flexibility.

But over this innocent and calm surface, there was a deep, hidden secret.

"Ohh!! Godfather....what sins have I committed? Why is it always me who has to compromise?"

"Why do I have to complete all the missions while my brothers and sisters cultivate strength and vie for the greatest treasures across the realms?"

An internal monologue was happening in Damian's heart.

He was not a human by race, and although he did not consider them inferior due to his good heart, he still wanted to go on adventures across the universe meeting strong races rather than descend to this unremarkable realm where his powers were sealed and the natives were weak.

In his world, he was called the Sword God.

This title was not merely a nickname, it was a rare designation given to individuals who displayed a supernatural understanding and mastery of the Sword, as if blessed by the Sword itself.

Damian Blade lived for the sword, his entire being dedicated to its pursuit.

Even suppressed, he could perceive the world through the subtle vibrations from his own sword,

he could also sense an opponent's intent through the shift of their stance, and react with a speed that defied limits.

His senses were so acute that he had detected Klaus's silent and incredibly fast descent, a feat that should have been impossible for someone who is not a paragon.

Klaus, having just landed on empty ground, looked at the boy. His guard got raised as he sensed a formidable opponent.

He mentally assessed the anomaly in front of him, his speed, his precision, and his decisive, fiery descent to kill the target in one go had all been nullified by a timid-looking boy.

"His perception is crazy" Klaus thought, it was the first time he was surprised by someone's strength.

"How did he detect me? How did he move so fast?" This was a level of perception and reaction beyond anything he had anticipated from a mere participant, even an SSS-ranker.

Damian Blade simply looked back at Klaus, his wide eyes holding a hint of calm curiosity.

The air between them crackled with unseen tension. Klaus with Lost Echo already in his hand, did not wait.

He launched forward in a blur of motion, and his sword flashed.

He opened the battle with a direct, powerful slash, aiming for a swift end. This was an opponent whose unique abilities demanded immediate assessment.

Damian Blade reacted. His body moved, not with explosive speed like Klaus's Apex Velocity, but with a fluid ethereal grace.

His shift seemed subtle and his sword, a plain steel blade that seemed to contain an ancient vibe to it, met Klaus's Lost Echo.

Steel clashed against steel, a sharp ringing sound filling the clearing. The impact sent a jolt up Klaus's arm.

"Interesting," Klaus thought. Damianblade's block was perfect, the deflecting his attack with minimal effort.

Klaus immediately followed with a rapid flurry of strikes, incorporating the forms of Stellar Sword Descent.

He used the First Form: Star Touch, infusing Lost Echo with starlight, making his strikes shimmer with an otherworldly glow.

He moved around Damian, attempting to find an opening, his s peed pushing his limits.

Damian blade, however was a master of sword. He parried every strike, his sword was like a silver blur, meeting Klaus's rapid blows with astonishing precision.

His movements were small and efficient, with each parry perfectly timed, deflecting the immense force with minimal energy expenditure. He moved like water, flowing around Klaus's attacks.

Klaus thought internally.

,"Hehe, finally a true challenge."

A genuine smile spread across Klaus's face.

This confrontation felt thrilling to him. It was the first time Klaus had not finished a battle in a single strike in this whole tournament.

He allowed his Draconic Pride to flare up and infuse with his strikes, amplifying them a bit and increasing their power.

"I accept that you are fast, but your movements are wasteful" Damian stated in a calm voice, his eyes were fixed on Klaus's movements.

"And your skill application... it is crude. You have great power, but you simply waste it with your untrained hands, you won't last a prolonged battle"

Klaus's smile widened. "Well, I never needed to prolong any battle, you will know soon why that is." He moved again, even faster, activating Apex Velocity to its maximum, becoming a streak of raw speed, appearing and disappearing around Damian.

Damian's eyes, however, tracked Klaus.

He did not possess any skill, just pure instincts honed to an absolute peak through dedicated sword training allowed him to predict Klaus's movements.

His sword, instead of chasing Klaus, moved to intercept, always appearing where Klaus was about to be.

[ding!!, analysis complete!! Host, This guy is using a foreign energy different from mana, he belongs to a different realm.

"Ohh!! Interesting, we now have an alien among us."

Klaus, seeing his raw speed countered, decided to add an elemental touch. He shifted. His body briefly glowed with searing red.

He infused Lost Echo with fire mana, transforming his blade into a fiery blade as he executed a powerful strike, a fiery slash designed to cleave through any defense.

Damian's sword met the fiery blade. A wave of intense heat radiated from the clash.

Damian grimaced, the effort evident on his face, but he held his ground.

His sword, though glowing red from the heat, did not melt. It vibrated intensely, absorbing the force and the heat.

"Your control over the fire is crazy," Damian said in a shocked and strained voice.

Inside Damian's mind, another thought was buzzing

"hehe!!.. Never thought I would find someone strong in this realm except the paragons."

"Well, you should thank God that I am not using the fire directly since you are an interesting piece to play with," Klaus smirked.

"TSK, how dare you think of me as something to play around with?" Damian frowned, his tone not matching his young, boyish look.

Klaus chuckled. "Let's see if your talk saves you from this."

With that, he executed Blazing Meteor (S) while engaging Damian in a sword fight.

Damianblade looked up at the descending inferno. His body tensed, and he immediately slammed his plain sword into the ground, and a whitish translucent barrier erupted.

[DING!! The host is using sword intent as a barrier, although the output is not enough to block your meteor completely. The system detects certain limitations imposed on the sword intent of this individual.

BOOM!

The Blazing Meteor slammed into the translucent shield. An immense explosion of fire and rock ripped through the clearing.

The ground convulsed. Trees shattered, turning into splinters. The very air shrieked with the force of the impact.

When the dust settled, the clearing was a scorched crater, still radiating immense heat.

Damian stood at the very center of the crater, his clothes tattered, his skin reddened from the heat.

His body showed the strain, but he was alive. His sword remained firmly in his hand.

And then a huge smile bloomed on his face.

-----

In the observation room, the Paragons watched in utter disbelief.

"He survived that?!" Lady Crimson exclaimed, her voice filled with a rare shock. "Such a massive impact from that meteor?!"

William simply smiled, a deep, satisfied expression on his face. "Indeed, you were right, Magnus, this generation is the golden generation."

Magnus nodded. "Yes, I never thought a person from a commoner background could show such talent. His ability to use his sword as a conduit for such a potent defensive barrier is unheard of; he is not even using mana but something entirely different."

Back in the arena,

Klaus watched Damian Blade. "You are truly strong; you managed to survive what only a few can," Klaus admitted, his voice holding a hint of genuine respect.

"But unfortunately my patience is running out"

Klaus went airborne using his Blazing Sky-Dash.

He then activated Glacial Impaler (S). A spear of hyper-condensed ice formed rapidly above his head.

The sheer size of the spear was horrifying to behold.

He launched it directly at Damian; its speed was immense as it was aimed directly at the small figure below.

Damian saw the incoming spear.

"So he can also use ice truly a monster even from my world's standards."

Already injured from the earlier attack, he knew he couldn't dodge.

He moved his sword, positioning it in the front. His body braced for the impact. The ice spear struck his sword.

It was a shattering impact.

Damian was pushed back, violently sliding across the ravaged ground. He slammed into the intact treeline, his body twisting.

Klaus descended, landing lightly on the edge of the crater. He walked towards the treeline.

Damianblade lay slumped against a large tree, his sword half-buried in the ground beside him. His chest rose and fell rapidly, his breath ragged.

His body was covered in frost, and his skin was pale. He tried to push himself up, but his limbs trembled uncontrollably.

"Don't take it personally, my friend. I have a bet with an old man, you see."

Hearing Klaus's sigh, the battered Damian laughed. "Haha, you know what? I also have an old man who likes to trouble me the same way."

While saying this, Damian's form shimmered, and he turned into particles, disappearing from his place.

The thousands of participants watching, both live and on screen, were completely silent.

They were mesmerized by the intensity of the fight they had just witnessed. This was beyond anything seen in a ranking battle.

This battle was being called the 'clash of titans' by the audience. Nobody knew who started this name, but it would surely go down in history.

"This is insane!" Arthur exclaimed, his voice filled with awe. He watched from afar on a hilltop, his eyes wide. "What are they both?"

Elara, standing beside him, nodded slightly.

Flora, who had rejoined them, looked at the scene and said,

"It's the first time I have seen Klaus talk to someone respectfully without any disdain."

Arthur and Ellara nodded to her observation,it was true they had never seen Klaus talk to any rival like how respectfully he did to Damian.
