DEVIL'S advocate

Chapter 7: Honor Of The Dead.

Just as the devil was about to unleash its wrath on our remaining team, a figure emerged from the shadows. He was clad in a black hood and mask, making it impossible to discern his features.

The mysterious figure moved with an uncanny speed and agility, his movements eerily similar to the devil's. As he clashed with the devil, the air was filled with the sound of crashing steel and the scent of ozone.

The battle between the two was intense, with neither gaining the upper hand. They seemed to be evenly matched, their strength and speed rivaled only by each other.Chief Orion's expression was grim as he gave the order. "We'll retrieve our fallen comrades and head back to the village immediately. We can't afford to linger here any longer."

We quickly moved to gather the bodies of Sergeant Thane, Axel, Lysander, and Zara. The weight of our failure hung heavy in the air as we somberly carried our fallen friends away from the battlefield. We turned and fled, leaving the mysterious figure to face the devil alone. As we stumbled away from the battlefield, I couldn't help but wonder who this enigmatic figure was.

Was he a friend or foe? And what was his true purpose for intervening in our battle?

The questions swirled in my mind as we put distance between ourselves and the battlefield. We finally stopped to catch our breath, our eyes fixed on the figure and the devil, who were still locked in combat.

The outcome of the battle was far from certain, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. What would happen next?

As we began our journey back to the village, the mysterious figure and the devil were still clashing in the distance. We didn't dare look back, fearing what we might see.

Our procession was solemn, the only sound being the soft thud of our footsteps and the rustling of the wind. We moved swiftly, driven by the need to escape the danger that lurked behind us.

The sun beat down on us relentlessly, draining our energy and morale. But we pressed on, fueled by our determination to protect our village and honor our fallen comrades.

As the hours passed, the village finally came into view. We quickened our pace, our hearts filled with a mix of relief and grief.

As we entered the village, the elders and villagers gathered around us, their faces etched with concern. They saw the somber expressions on our faces and the bodies we carried, and they knew that something was terribly wrong.

Chief Orion dismounted his horse and approached the elders. "We were ambushed by the devil," he reported grimly. "We lost four good warriors."

The villagers gasped in shock, and the elders bowed their heads in mourning. The village was plunged into darkness, as if the very light had been extinguished.

As we stood there, surrounded by the somber faces of the villagers, I saw two figures rushing towards us. It was my mom and Mrs starseeker. Their faces were etched with worry and fear as they scanned the crowd, searching for us.As they moved closer, they spotted us standing among our group, shaken but alive. The two women's faces transformed from grief to relief, and they rushed to embrace us.

I was hugged by my mom tightly, tears of joy streaming down her face. "Thank the gods you're safe," she whispered.Same goes for Mike's mom, her eyes filled with gratitude. "We were so worried about you," she said, her voice trembling. We both hugged our mothers back, looking relieved but also somber. They knew that our team had suffered a devastating loss, and that our comrades had made the ultimate sacrifice.

Chief Orion cleared his throat, his expression serious. "We need to tend to our wounds and mourn our fallen comrades," he said. "But we also need to figure out what happened and how to prevent it from happening again."Chief Orion nodded solemnly. "We will hold the ceremony at sundown. We will honor the memories of Sergeant Thane, Axel, Lysander, and Zara."The villagers nodded in agreement, and we began to make arrangements for the ceremony. We would need to prepare the ceremonial grounds, gather flowers and incense, and notify the rest of the village.

The villagers nodded in agreement, and we began to make arrangements for the funeral ceremony. As we walked back to base, I couldn't help but wonder about the mysterious figure who had intervened in our battle.

Who was he, and what was his true purpose?

Soon the sun went down and was almost time for the ceremony. The ceremony would be a time for us to come together and mourn our losses. We would honor the memories of our fallen comrades and celebrate their bravery.we finished our preparations. The ceremonial grounds were ready, and the villagers had begun to gather.

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the emotional ceremony ahead. We would say goodbye to our friends and comrades, and we would honor their memories. The sun had just begun to set, casting a warm orange glow over the ceremonial grounds. The villagers had gathered, their faces somber and respectful.

Chief Orion stood at the front of the gathering, his eyes scanning the crowd. "We are here today to honor the memories of Sergeant Thane, Axel, Lysander, and Zara," he said, his voice clear and strong. "They were brave warriors who gave their lives to protect our village."

The villagers nodded in agreement, and we began to share stories and memories of our fallen comrades. We remembered their bravery, their laughter, and their kindness.with the villagers offering prayers and condolences to the families of the fallen warriors. We lit incense and candles, and we released balloons into the sky, symbolizing the release of our comrades' spirits.

As the ceremony came to a close, Chief Orion nodded solemnly. "Let us take a moment to remember our fallen comrades," he said, his voice filled with emotion.

We stood in silence, our heads bowed in respect. The villagers whispered prayers and condolences, while the wind rustled through the trees. As we stood there, I felt a sense of closure wash over me. We had honored our fallen comrades, and we had begun the process of healing.

But as I looked around at the somber faces of the villagers, I knew that our journey was far from over. We still had questions to answer, and dangers to face.

The mysterious figure, the devil, and the true nature of their battle were still shrouded in mystery. And I couldn't shake the feeling that our village was still in grave danger.

As the ceremony came to a close, the villagers began to disperse. We would need to regroup and recharge, preparing ourselves for the challenges ahead.

But for now, we could take a moment to breathe, to mourn our losses, and to honor the memories of our fallen comrades.
