-----------
Because it was scared, SCP-096 tore up the soldiers? So, it's some sort of defense mechanism? Looking at the chat, Brit's face looked quite strange.
However, apart from being weird, if you think about it carefully, it seems that what the chat said is not entirely nonsense. After all, after carefully analyzing the situation, they might discover that it could be a "justifiable self-defense."
First, once they entered the area, the environment malfunctioned, and the doors were blocked. Then, through the window, they noticed SCP-096 in the room. While they were still confused, a soldier appeared and said something, causing SCP-096 to enter a state of severe fear, as it kept crying.
Because the soldier was fully armed, it indicates that he is security personnel of the site or something similar. Since he is security personnel, nine out of ten soldiers would be wary of the contents of the site. Plus, he is holding a gun, which might cause SCP-096 to think that the soldier intends to harm it. That could explain why it entered a state of anger and chose to attack. But, after all, it is an SCP, and in a sense, it is an abnormal entity, so its behavior is not entirely surprising. Everything is within the realm of normality for an SCP.
The fear shown by the soldiers is very understandable. Since the soldier is site personnel, he should know the nature of SCP-096. So, when he saw SCP-096 crying, he likely panicked, recognizing it as a sign that the creature was about to attack. He should also know that SCP-096 has a strong resistance to damage, but he was in a desperate situation. As for why he didn't run away immediately, maybe it's because he is a site soldier—he wouldn't abandon his post in the face of danger but would try to find a way to stop it.
Currently, the SCP-096 file is unavailable, so its true nature remains unknown. Therefore, all these are just speculations. Moreover, the speculation might sound a bit outrageous, but upon reflection, these theories have some logical consistency.
Thinking of this, Brit said, "Perhaps SCP-096 has some intelligence and the possibility of communication..."
Kiwo and RT looked at him suspiciously. Brit thought for a moment, then carefully summarized what the chat had said, combined with his own guesses, and shared his thoughts. When they heard this, they immediately felt that this seemingly ridiculous theory might hold some truth. Following this line of reasoning, the way to proceed would gradually become clearer: talk to SCP-096!
But it's just a hypothesis. Brit himself felt that this idea was somewhat unreliable—after all, SCP-049, the cold and paranoid doctor, couldn't be reasoned with. So far, he had never heard of any player successfully communicating with it and convincing it to give up its so-called "healing."
It's not just Brit who thinks so; viewers in the stream also find this idea unreliable:
"Talk to SCP-096? Why does that sound so unlikely..."
"By the way, will you make it cry?"
"There's no other choice now..."
"Come on, Brit!"
Brit looked at the chat, sighed quietly, and then said, "All right, we're going to enter the room. Whether SCP-096 has enough intelligence to communicate or not, we have to try. Even if it doesn't work, we're not doing anything wrong—because we have to face it."
Kiwo and RT nodded in agreement. After making this decision, Brit was ready to act. The two were worried, but seeing no other options, they silently cheered him on.
Brit took a deep breath, nodded to the others, and stood up. First, through the window, he looked into the room again. He saw that SCP-096 was still facing away, its body trembling slightly, crying continuously.
Brit observed for a moment. After he could see nothing but the crying SCP-096 and some mechanical devices, it seemed that if he wanted to find clues to move forward, he would need to enter the room.
"The soldier NPC probably has a purpose, likely to indicate that signs of SCP-096's attack include entering a state of extreme agitation. So, once inside, I just need to be as careful as possible. If SCP-096 doesn't react much, it should be safe," Brit muttered to himself.
Then, he nodded toward the others and walked toward the door. As he reached it, Brit's heart began to race unconsciously. After all, he had just witnessed SCP-096's violent attack—such bloody brutality could give even the mentally strong nightmares. Now, he was about to intentionally enter the room and approach the humanoid monster, which was naturally nerve-wracking.
"It's okay," Brit reassured himself, taking a deep breath and pressing the button next to the door. The metal door opened.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Brit's heart jumped. He was afraid the noise might attract SCP-096's attention. Fortunately, it remained standing in place and didn't seem to care about Brit's presence.
Seeing this, Brit sighed in relief, gave an "OK" gesture to Kiwo, who was watching nervously, and then pointed into the room, indicating he was going inside.
The two nodded nervously and clenched their fists to encourage him. Viewers in the stream also watched anxiously, their hearts pounding. SCP-096's brutality was recent and shocking, and almost no one dared to claim they could remain completely calm when facing it.
"Don't panic! Take your time! Stay calm..." Brit told himself silently. Then, he stepped forward and entered the room.
