Chapter 36: Polish people's loyalty
-23.2.1907-
A Month has passed since the gruesome headache. Anastasia is doing her Royal duties with diligence and is currently on her way to the Polish Governorate.
Her duties demanded her to go to the Polish Governorate to inspect and evaluate ongoing projects.
The Polish people are a strong people. They had their own Nation once and were a continental superpower during their height.
But with infighting and corruption they lost their strength and luster and fell to external influences and then eventually fell as a Nation.
The Heart of Poland is in the Russian Empire known as the Polish Governorate which Anastasia reorganized. Warsaw, the Capital of the Governorate is the beacon and heart of the Polish people.
Before Anastasias reforms and influence Poland was one of the most rebellious regions of Russia. Many times have militants rose up to fight for freedom only to get crushed beneath the Russian heel.
But with Anastasias changes, Poland alongside the rest of the people who wished for independence gave up that dream.
Some might call them traitors and such insults but the people realized that everything Anastasia did was for their sake. With the Improved economy, infrastructure, healthcare, livelihood and more, the Poles knew that gaining freedom from Russia would do more harm than good, as they would lose all their benefits and new and improved lives.
The Majority Catholic Poles were one of the few who really celebrated with joy when the Church of Russia and even the Vatican declared Anastasia a canonized Saint.
They sent more men to fight for Anastasia in Korea than everyone else, second to the Russians, with the Ukrainians being third.
So when they heard that the Crown Princess is going to visit they scrambled to make a appropriate welcome ceremony for her.
When Anastasia arrived at Warsaw she saw thousands on the streets cheering for her and waving her Insignia while throwing flowers her car. This sight made Anastasia happy beyond words as she reaffirmed herself that her duties pay of.
As her car slowly drove to the Governor's Palace she looked out of the window, still seeing rows and rows of people waveing and cheering at her.
"See how they celebrate me. What do you think Constantine."
Constantine, who's with Anastasia inside the car, looks out the window and says.
"The people adore you, your Highness, that is a good thing."
As they arrived at the Governor's Palace and exited, the people began to chant her name until she entered the building. Now inside, she took a moment to calm down due to the high tone chanting from the citizens of Warsaw.
"Welcome your Highness to Warsaw and welcome to the Polish Governorate."
The Governor came and welcomed her as she nodded.
"Lead the way." She said as the Governor lead them to his office.
As they entered and sat down on their seats, Anastasia spoke up.
"The people seem, happy of my visit."
The Governor listened with a smile.
"That's because it's your Highness, the people of Poland love and adore you. You gave us better lives than we had."
"You should have seen the chaos that happened when the Emporor declared you Queen of Korea. Most want you to be their Queen and with you being that of Koreas lead to some unrest for a long time. It only ended because you were declared a Saint by the Partiarch of Russia and the Pope."
Anastasia listened with a smile and got surprised and embarrassed from this.
So the unrest was because of her not being 'their' Queen but that of Korea? They only stopped because of her Sainthood being declared?
"Now I do realize how much they love me, I am happy to know that. I will come and visit more often."
She said as she clapped her hands. The Governor smiled and gave a bow to her in thanks.
"I thank you your Highness, I would have been ousted had I not invited you."
Anastasia smiled and nodded as she leans back on the chair.
"So, how are the projects around Poland doing?"
The Governor straightened himself as he spoke. "The bridges along the Vistula are finished, expansion of Warsaw has entered construction phase, criminal activity dropped an all time low in history of Poland. I say everything is green."
Anastasia took the reports about the city expansion and read it.
"How are the citizens who live at the edge of the city's construction?"
The Governor coughed as the took a different report and handed it over to her.
She took and read it. Once she finished her eyes widened in surprise.
"A complaint about the absence of a statue of me in the plans?"
She herself can't believe what she's reading.
The only complaint they have is because no plans where made to create a statue of her?
Thats, absurd.
"Yes, that's the only complaint they have, the plan had to be rewritten to include a statue of you within the new plaza that is under construction. Unless you object your Highness."
Anastasia was stunned, were the Polish people that loyal that they complained about the absence of a memorandum of her?
"I don't object, it's what they want so they will receive."
The Governor nodded, he too was glad that she approved as he's one of the ones who complained. But he's to shy to tell her that. Not right before her, the Saint of Russia.
"Well Governor, I will be on my way to my Warsaw Estate. If you need my presence, send someone to get me."
The Governor nodded as he escorted her toward the exit.
Once Anastasia left the building they were meet with the still present crowd who began to cheer.
She smiled happily, they really do love her.
