Chapter 23: Akanes Trap
Since then, two more days have elapsed. Not only had I not given Akane any liquid food, I had not even fed her any water after that.
Notwithstanding, Akane still did not plead with me for help, but simply stared vacantly into the void.
“…”Previous
Not a word was uttered, no tears were shed, not even an outcry. She did not even possess that much strength left in her.
Her body should have reached its limit long ago. Yet, Akane persisted in refusing my help with her last remaining willpower. It was a tedious and vain act.
“Akane, that’s enough. You should have realized that it is fruitless to be obstinate any longer. Nothing will change… nothing can change.”
Even Akane herself must have already figured out that it was a futile resistance. This meager stubbornness was only exacerbating her own suffering and unhappiness.
And yet, Akane still would not depend on me.
“Don’t stay silent, open your mouth already. And speak up. You can tell, right? The words I want to hear,” I said assertively, gripping Akane by the hair. Akane did not even focus on my eyes, though.
“…”
Human beings were vulnerable creatures. However strong their feelings may be, the limitations of their bodies and the pain they experience could not be resisted.
Even Akane, whose body contained flesh and blood, was no exception. In time, she would have to seek me out to live.
“…Water…”
But at that point, Akane finally pleaded with me in a hoarse voice.
That same Akane had relied on me. She had shown her vulnerability to me and sought my help.
“Do you want it? Would you like cold water to quench your thirst?” I asked wickedly while stroking Akane’s cheek.
“P-Please…”TOC
In response, Akane, beyond her limits, desperately pleaded with me. To me, whom she was supposed to despise.
My wide-angle eyes naturally lifted upward.
“Oh, it can’t be helped. You can’t handle anything on your own, and you’re a failure. Without me, you can’t even live, can you?”
I further rammed into her words in response and waited for Akane’s subsequent words.
“I can’t… live.”TOC
“Right? If so, figure it out. Akane, you are… my property. Whether I let you live or kill you… is at my whim.”
At my words, Akane shook her head repeatedly like a wrecked human being. However stubborn she may be, human beings were like this. They had a weakness for pain and constantly sought pleasure.
“Hurry… up… please…”
Akane was now like a lowly domestic animal craving food. The stout-hearted girl who had been verbally abusing me until a few days ago has turned into this.
And I was once more convinced that human beings were merely insignificant creatures of that level. Therefore, I strongly felt that I had to elevate Akane from a mere human being to an even more exalted existence with my own hands.
“Hmm, what a vile woman. But I love you that way too and I will let you live.”
“…Tha… nks…”TOC
Akane gave a faint smile in response to my words. Simply experiencing that fact was enough to thrill me to no end.
At the same time, I was likewise aware of human beings’ vulgarity.
Humans were so malleable to be controlled by any means. What a stupid and vulnerable existence.
“I’ll get you something from the refrigerator right now. So… you just wait docilely, okay?”
Humans, after all, were lowly and simple creatures.
That was why I even assumed that such things could be easily dominated and subjugated.
…Until this moment.
…And I didn’t realize it at the time.

I was not aware that Akane’s spirit had not yet been shattered.
And that I had fallen right into Akane’s trap already.
