Denial, Blood of The Fae

Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Winter Break - Who is Artoria Pendragon!?

Raven let a soft cackle out as he wrote into a journal… ok it was a diary. He had started writing everything down in his life, as a just in case he lost his memory in the future.

Currently he was writing about a recent prank he just made on the twins. It involved a lot of glitter, confetti and pizza sauce, he's not sure how that last one got in there, but it did.

"Excuse me professor?" Raven glanced up slightly surprised to see a little first year standing nervously before him, he didn't sense any others outside his office, so he was truly here on his own.

"Yes Mr. Danfield?" Raven closed his journal and stored it away, idly he spun the pen in his hand around.

"C-can you help me with the shield charm, I'm struggling a little to get it to handle more then one spell?" Raven could tell the kid was nervous and nodded his head.

"Alright, show me the spell." Raven said and sat patiently.

"Protego." The kid whispered out as he cast the basic shield spell, and it was cast sure, but it was already cracked and flimsy, Raven flicked his finger and the shield broke apart easily.

"I think I understand now." Raven said as he stood up and made his wand appear. "Protego." He announced his word firmly and calmly to the world. A perfect shield appeared in front of him.

After a moment of enjoying the awe on the kids face, he let it go away.

"Now, there's a few things to fix here. First and foremost, pronunciation and intent. Then we have the way you're moving your wand." Raven said seriously before he waved his hand and made his whiteboard move closer as he made a marker appear in hand.

"Pronunciation. Protego. Pro-Te-Go. You're pronunciating it as Pro-Tego." Raven wrote this out on the whiteboard.

"The next part plays into this first one too. Intent is everything for wizarding style magic. Without intent, you will struggle to have any spell work. When you are whispering the word for the spell, you aren't meaning to be shielded, you aren't tell the word that you are casting a shield, you're merely… suggesting it to cast the spell, but it won't want to, because the world hates you." Raven said as he closed his eyes momentarily to shove down the whispers of the world.

No, he wasn't going to rip this kids throat out, or lob his head off.

"Finally, your wand movement, stop that. There is no needed movement, it's just a point forward and cast, no fancy movements at all." Raven declared sternly before he moved back a little after he shoved the whiteboard away.

"Now say it with me, with intent and meaning, with a desire to be shielded. Cast or else." Raven said as his wand started glowing softly.

"Protego!" Raven smiled as a harmless jinx splashed against a much stronger shield spell.

"Well done Mr. Danfield. Now I'd recommend running off, I believe you have classes in 25 minutes." Raven said with a smirk as he waved a hand cleaning the whiteboard.

"Wait, why the fuck do I have a whiteboard in my office when I don't even write stuff down on it?" Raven asked himself confused before shrugging and pushing it into a corner and returning to his journal.

"Not another one." Raven mumbled as he saw another student at his door.

He would help eighteen more students with spells for the rest of the day.

"Being an aid is exhausting. I truly appreciate how the teachers handle so many students all day, every week for hours straight." Raven complained to Izanami who's head lay in his lap as he brushed her hair out.

"You were so cute though~" she teased and he glared at her.

"I am not cute! Handsome, amazing and sexy, yes. Cute? No!" Raven huffed and she laughed softly at him.

"Will you be staying for winter break?" She asked after a couple minutes.

"No, I'll be returning to the clocktower, there's some work I need to finish before I can relax." Raven pouted as he imagined the paperwork he had to do. Running a company wasn't easy work, much less also helping run the clocktower.

So many idiots.

"I see." She said and snuggled into his lap as she purred a bit as he got a knot out her hair.

"You know, I'm starting to wonder what the hell you're doing all day if your hair keeps getting knotted like this so badly."

"Being a cat ain't easy." She declared simply and he rolled his eyes.

Raven calmly sipped at his wine as he pondered on how amusing it would be to drop a copy of the Hogwarts express onto someone or something, he had spent the time it took to ride back fully examining the train to its last detail, even the dust.

Oh!

Raven let a soft cackle out as he imagined just placing the train in pieces randomly around Hogwarts and letting everyone be confused why the Hogwarts express is still in its docking area, but also at Hogwarts at the same time.

It ought to upset the so called pure bloods enough for a good laugh.

A sudden thought came to his mind, and a very menacingly grin covered his face.

Put pieces of the express inside the Minsitry, while the train is in active motion. Then scatter them around the magical areas of Europe.

Raven started cackling as he imagined where he would put the pieces, maybe one-

Raven's thoughts were cut off as the door to his little room opened to reveal Rose who came in and took a seat across from him with a very pleased smile as she closed the door.

"Did your blood relations die or something?" He asked wondering why she wasn't back at the castle.

"If only, but no. I'm going to meet a relative of mine who offered to take temporary custody of me." Rose said and Raven narrowed his eyes, but decided Albus must have agreed that said person wasn't a threat to Rose.

"Neato, let me know if I need to gut that person." Raven said before cracking open a book.

"Will do." She said with a small blush staining her cheeks in embarrassment, and a bit of happiness.

•~~~~•

Raven after a short goodbye to Rose snuck off into downtown and find a nice bite to eat. Izanami laid on his shoulder.

"Wait, so the underworld, Yomi, is just a mess of souls somewhat organized into areas, they either get punishment or just eternal nothingness till they return to the root eventually?"

"Yes, it was supposed to be something else, but as my domain, I decided I wanted it that way. Some Kami complain, but one reminder of who and what I am, they run away." Izanami said with a small frown. Raven just wanted to hug her close to him.

His cat deserved better damnit!

"Speaking of souls, heroic spirits, they are souls possessing doll bodies prepared early on for them to inhabit. How does the throne of heroes work? Is it like a underworld realm, and they are kept there till needed? How does their splintered soul not have issues without a body to hold it?" Raven was really curious about that.

"Heroic Spirits huh? I'm not to knowledgeable on that front, but yes, the throne of heroes is like an underworld realm. The being who's in charge of it, I'm not sure. Not even Alyla or Gaia control it. Influence it yes, but control it, no." Izanami paused to slurp at her noodles.

"As for how they're kept, from what I can tell, it's sort of like a prison realm designed by their legend. Keeps them constantly bathed in it, keeping their soul intact and the same, but allowing for growth still. As for the soul part in regards to fracturing, I'm not enterly sure, even when I watched a grail war, it didn't make sense to me as it seemed like they were a full soul, but just not quite also." Izanami finished and Raven hummed in curiosity.

"So most likely-" Raven paused as Izanami spoke again.

"If you're so curious, just ask that Saber girl, she's a heroic spirit." Izanami revealed out of the blue, and then went back to her noodles.

Raven snorted out some broth in shock.

"Huh!?"

"Why are you so surprised? Can't your eyes see that?" She asked confused and he took a deep breath.

"Apparently not, freaking useless eyes." Raven grumbled at how his mystic eyes can be extremely useful one moment, and then enterly useless the next.

"Finish your noodles, I think it's time for a game." Raven let an ominous cackle out as he finished his bowl and then paused, and ordered another order.

They stayed eating for another two hours.

•~~~~•

"Saber! Rin! Shirou!" Raven called out as he walked up to them in a training hall where Shirou and Rin were doing some light sparring.

"Raven?" Shirou greeted and took a sucker punch to the stomach and a roundhouse kick to the face.

"Don't lose focus idiot!" Rin yelled as she stormed up to Shirou and started shaking him around.

Raven rolled his eyes and approached Saber, Izanami in her cat form laid on his head looking around at the three that were originally in the room.

"Raven." Saber greeted with a small smile.

"Saber. Having fun?" He asked and she looked at the two bickering lovers at the edge of the battle area.

"Yes." She said with her smile widening a little. "Aren't you supposed to be at that school, Hogwarts?" She asked after a moment of hesitation.

"Winter break, though I mostly come and go as I please outside of my assigned hours for being a teachers assistant, which is mostly just me teaching the classes." Raven said with a smirk and she nodded in understanding.

"I see, it is most impressive that you would be able and trusted to teach the next generation." Saber said and Raven smiled at her.

"Thank you, would you be able to accommodate a spar?" Raven asked with a smile and Saber glanced at her two friends who nodded their head, they did have the time.

"I'm able to." She agreed and he smiled.

"Glad to hear, but let's get a bit serious yeah?" Raven asked as a sword appeared in his hand. Malovlent in its sword form, having gone under some revisions and enhancements in his free time.

"If you are so sure." Saber said and summoned her sword covered in wind that not even his eyes could see through, to his utter annoyance again.

He wants a refund!

On a unsaid signal, Raven shot forward and clashed with Saber who was momentarily surprised by the raw strength used.

"Keep your focus." Raven said mockingly as suddenly he kicked Saber and Malevolent changed into its staff form and fired off beams of pure magic. The next instant it was a bow and firing off arrows.

Raven smiled as Saber managed to cut the magic and arrows in such fluid movements. She was knightly. Graceful and at times regal. Like a king…

"Ah, so that's how it is. The past is truly curious." Raven laughed softly before Malvolent turned into its shield form and blocked Saber's attack.

He fired off several fireballs at her.

They did little to slow her down as he put some distance between them.

"Perhaps I should turn up the difficulty." Raven smiled before Malovelnt returned to sword form. The sword started glowing with dawn energy and he shot forward at much faster speeds, but Saber was able to keep up and match him.

"You really are interesting you know that." Raven said with a smug look.

"How so?" Saber grunted as she noticed he had started copying her movements, a favorite pastime of his.

"The skill and technique with a sword you wield, something very rare in this era. The form you use I've read in older text books, dating back to around when Camelot was said to exist." Raven noticed that Saber had an uncomfortable look on her face.

So he was getting closer.

"Of course this could be left up to the fact you were just able to find instructions in the old style somewhere, not impossible." Raven saw her relax and let a small cackle out as he swung a beam of energy at her.

Saber huffed as she put a good amount of effort into her swing and cut the beam into two.

"However your grace and dare I say regal like movement, almost like a king, no, exactly like a king. So I ponder, with an alias like Saber, a class in the somewhat well known Holy Grail war, I came to a conclusion." Raven said smirking as he pointed his sword forward.

"Thou art King Arthur Pendragon, King of Britain, Once and Future King, King of Knights, Wielder of Excalibur. So tell me, how far off am I?" Raven asked with a smile as he casually had a shield appear that blocked an attack from Rin and Shirou.

He noted their attacks were only meant to disable, not maim or kill. How nice of them.

"Rin, Shirou, enough. Your guess is correct, Raven Inanis, I am Artoria Pendragon, the former King of Britain." She said with an odd tone to her voice.

"So I ask you, what do you plan to do with that information?" She asked as she suddenly appeared in front of him, her sword pointed between his eyes, its glory revealed finally, his shields not even doing anything to stop it.

"Your sword truly lives up to it's reputation." Raven grinned as he pushed the sword away from his eyes, he wasn't sure he could heal from an attack from such a sword.

"As for what I'll do with that information?" Raven smiled at her. He slowly moved back and away from the trio as he let Malevolent disappear.

"Nothing." He grinned cheerfully before he removed the sound barrier he placed, he noted that Sab-, Artoria, noticed it, and decided that having Merlin as your teacher made you notice such things.

"Of course so long as you don't make a big deal over threatening a true magician, master of the first true magic." Raven chuckled as he started walking off.

However he paused and turned around with a malicious grin, Artoria thought it was familiar.

"Thanks for keeping it a secret since I revealed it to you Shirou." Raven cackled as he walked off.

Artoria watched quietly as Raven Inanis walked off and out the training room.

She had noticed the barrier being placed since the start of the spar, but didn't say anything since Shirou and Rin had been able to hear everything fine.

She however did notice he dropped it after her identity had been revealed, and then chosen to say something about his identity, despite knowing that the person outside the door would hear it.

As she watched Rin shake and throw around Shirou, she pondered on who is Raven Inanis.

He was smart, verily so. Crafty, definitely manipulative. Cold and calculating. Annoying and rude. Blood thirsty, for she could recognize that desire anywhere.

However, he was also kind and caring. Gentle when needed. He helped his friends, even at the cost of injury.

It reminded her of Morgan, her dear departed wife, her dear soulmate.

Perhaps in his bloodline, Raven possessed a bit of Fae blood in him. His very nature was inline with their chaotic tendencies.

Now if only she could get him to stop using her moves against her, it would be appreciated.

•~~~~•

A man ran as he started spreading the news through the clocktower that would soon spread across the whole world and the many dimensions of the supernatural races.

Raven Inanis, Student of Lorelei, was a magician, Master of The First True Magic, Denial of Nothingness.

The Prince of Denial!

The next day the man was found nearly naked besides underwear, and hanging upside down from the dining hall ceiling.

He would be stuck up there for two weeks before whatever kept him there failed and he fell down onto the floor.

He was never heard from again, but his screams were heard throughout the clocktower.

Artoria only felt more strongly about Raven possessing some form of fae heritage.

Ha! Old title card pun!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter my dear readers, I certainly had fun writing it. It is always interesting trying to decide how to portray characters in this chaotic mess of verses.

Especially one like Artoria.

Excalibur is broken in DxD, but yet Artoria wields a intact Excalibur, how is that so? Well, you'll be waiting a good long while to find out, sorry.

Also immediately once she starts connecting things, Artoria of all people will of course notice the fae like tendencies of Raven, she of all people would recognize them, especially his brand of essentrics.

Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter, until next time my friends and dear readers!
