Chapter 786: Potion Brewing (2)
[New personal System function has been created – Potion Brewing]
---
Eiro grinned as he saw the message in front of him. The custom system window was currently changing and transforming, and at the same time, a space was being created inside of the demon's mental library. A small workshop in the corner of the building, quite close to the study that had been created there. And inside of it stood a quite familiar figure. It was the same wooden puppet that Jura had made for him that he had trained with for so long.
Maybe it was because he connected that puppet to repeating very specific patterns that this was the representation of it within his mind. Inside of this room were tons of different tools. Cauldrons, workstations, knives, and so on. Basically, they were things that Eiro had constant access to, whether it was through magic or because of the tools or items that he carried with him. The knives actually seemed quite similar to the three of swords, so maybe those blades were used as a base for these.
Along the walls were shelves with different square cubbies, sorted into a number of different sections. Those cubbies seemed connected to the slots that Eiro was seeing in front of him in the new system window. There, he could select a specific process, enter the specifications such as the different temperatures, timings, sequences, and so on, and could then provide the materials that needed to be processed in that manner. He could also select an order and the specific moment that the material needed to be added.
Basically, he could create different sequences of actions that could be done at the same time, basically leading up to the final potion's creation. It was all empty right now, but filling this up with all the different recipes that he knew of so far wasn't particularly hard, it might just take a little while. He should be able to do the rest on the way to the monster town, but for now he created the recipes for the potions that he accidentally broke just now.
He could select how many 'portions' he wanted, and it automatically calculated the exact materials that were needed. Eiro quickly made his way over to another storage space. This place was only there to store shipments before they went out, basically. The actual important materials were kept in a more controlled environment where all materials could be kept at peak condition.
Eiro grabbed all the different herbs, saps, roots, and so on that he needed, and placed them into the different slots in the system window. Simply pushing them against the system window did the job, and the items were pulled into him in a similar way to how items were pulled in when he used his treasury. It seemed like he had simply managed to create a similar space, practically copying the function of that ability. Truly, this new racial ability was like an absolute cheat, but he had no reason to complain. After all, he was the one cheating in the first place.
There was a small timer at the bottom of the window that was telling Eiro how long it would take to finish the potions. It should take around thirty minutes to finish them all. And meanwhile... Eiro could just do anything else.
"Heh... Partax will scream with jealousy if I tell him about this," the demon grinned. He really, really should keep analyzing different cards to be able to add more system functions like this. These were extremely powerful additions to the point of being comparable to abilities that could come with rare classes or races.
But for now, Eiro really had to get started. He did use up a good bit of time properly getting this system function going and setting everything up, so he should at the very least start loading up the carriages.
He stepped out of the warehouse and looked over at the transport carriage standing outside. With a glance of his third eye, he quickly duplicated the carriage a few times over so that there was enough space to transport everything. He then snapped his finger and summoned a swarm of Mage Hands, which quickly worked together to transport everything into the carts and making sure they were safely fixed into their spots.
When the carriages were properly filled up, it was time for Eiro to make his rounds and say goodbye to everyone for tonight and tomorrow. With his plans, he should make his way back by Saturday evening. And, after practically tearing his duplicated eye away from Partax, Eiro stepped back outside and called Lugo. The stag also seemed quite close to fulfilling all the requirements that he needed to develop his magic and change his forms the way that Magic Beasts did it. He was already level 100, but it seemed as though Lugo needed certain breakthroughs to get to that point.
Eiro rubbed his hand over the stag's snout, "Let's just take it a step at a time, alright bud? There's no need for you to grow up further just yet."
Lugo tilted his head to the side a bit confused, and the demon sighed with a slight smile. Of course, he didn't want Lugo to be intentionally stunted in his growth, but it was still quite scary. When Eiro first met Lugo, he was brought to him by a massive stag. That stag itself was Lugo, bringing his younger self to the demon. And frankly, looking back, Eiro believed that this happened when Lugo reached the end of his life. He was already so, so close to looking like he did back then, and the closer Lugo's appearance grew to that time, the closer he was to death. The idea of losing his dearest friend and companion was heartbreaking, not to mention the fact that it would mean that Eiro's own time in this world was also going to come to an end then.
To Eiro, it was starting to feel like he was on borrowed time.
"Well, I guess I should just make the best of it, huh?" Eiro smiled, patting the stag. And then, he used the mirror of duplication in his eye to duplicate Lugo. It was one of the few times he had duplicated a living being that wasn't himself. The only reason why he could share consciousness with his duplicates seemed to be because of his 'Memory of a Scholar' ability, and of course that wasn't the case with other beings. As such, the duplicates of Lugo were basically mindless dolls that Eiro could manipulate and command freely. Though, the only reason he was doing this was so that he had enough animals to pull the carriages. He altered these duplicates slightly, removing their antlers and simply giving them random small characteristics so that people weren't freaked out. Similarly, the 'drivers' were duplicates of himself that he dressed up in different clothes, changing their faces to those of random people he had seen over his lifetime. Of course, he himself looked as he always did with Bavet's help.
And so, Eiro soon started leading the caravan off the manor's property, and the journey to the monster town began. As this was happening, Eiro added new recipes to the new system function, while him and Bavet brainstormed what sort of other functions could be interesting and useful. Of course, Bavet was just generally quite jealous about the fact that Eiro could do all of these things, and even said some things that he would love to have if he could create new system functions. For Bavet, the top function was to be able to save prior appearances, since every time, he had to manually change his own body to look like how he did the last time he used that form.
When he was altering Eiro's appearance it was easier, since he was really just changing some small features, but otherwise, it seemed quite hard to do the same thing every time, though Bavet did a pretty great job at staying consistent.

Whichever the case, Eiro briefly took some breaks to fill up the carriages with the new potion bottles that were prepared by the potion brewing function, and then continued on through the lands surrounding the capital until they reached the mountainous terrain that the monster town was hidden in.
