Jun
"Fascinating!" Jun once again marvelled as she followed the ornaments of the building with her fingers. They formed pretty specific strata and converged on the ceiling in one spot. The spot felt empty. But that was not her job to decide what goes there, even though she made the discovery. Magistrates appointed Azures to oversee the research in this old building.
Jun imagined what kind of life people led before. What were their everyday worries? What they've eaten? Did they even need to eat? So many questions. But that's what helped her to find the logic behind the patterns. Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud man. "You can't do this! We live here! I've paid the Council everything and filled all the necessary papers, you can't just make us leave, I'll--" "Sire, we know how inconvenient this is for you, but we can't let you disturb the Azures while they conduct the research-" "YOU!'' A red-faced man stormed past the cobalt initiate, straight to Jun "I knew I should not have invited you in! I've hired you to tutor my son until he is of age! I gave you money and everything you asked for, but you betrayed me! You've slept under this roof, you've lived here, you've eaten my food--" the initiate came with local guards and dragged the man away. Jun never betrayed anyone, she always served only the Sapphire Dome, it's in the contract. He assured her that he read the parchment and even sealed it with his ring. Even when working in the Bureau she never stopped being a Teal. Granted, his drunken antics lead to the discovery when he spilled his drink right into the strata and it coloured all the intricate details, but nobody needs to know that.
"The Council thought this building had nothing left to offer" She looked at the parchment with a mirrored wine stain of the ornament, and back to the ceiling and muttered "When you reach Sapphire heights you can see the details below."
