DEAD STAR

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: The Dragon Beneath

[Page 1] [VISUAL] Rain and the rogue Star Bearer clash on the lunar surface. Blades of cosmic energy crash and burn as their weapons lock mid-air. NARRATION (RAIN): I gave everything to the stars. Everything. And still... I wasn't enough.

[Page 2] [VISUAL] The rogue Star Bearer presses his advantage, sending Rain skidding across the lunar rock. NARRATION (RAIN): They whisper and scream. But when I need them—when I'm begging—they're silent.

[Page 3] [VISUAL] Rain struggles to rise. His suit is damaged. Blood floats in zero gravity, forming delicate red spirals. RAIN (shouting): GIVE ME SOMETHING!

[Page 4] [VISUAL] Close-up on Rain's face, wide-eyed, teeth clenched, eyes glowing. Cosmic energy begins to surge around him, fracturing his aura. NARRATION (RAIN): If you're not going to help me... then I'll tear the power from you myself.

[Page 5] [VISUAL] A massive shockwave erupts from Rain. He roars—not like a man, but like something ancient and lost. His body distorts slightly, his fingers twitching erratically. SFX: SKRRRAAAAGHHHHHHHHH!!!

[Page 6] [VISUAL] Kai watches the surge through a rift-monitor. He stumbles back, fear in his eyes. KAI: No... No, that's not possible.

[Page 7] [VISUAL] Rain's body stabilizes. He stands tall—still humanoid, but barely. His posture is hunched, breathing wild. His eyes glow with pure starlight. A low growl rumbles from his chest. His movement is twitchy, unbalanced, unpredictable. NARRATION (RAIN): —————

[Page 8] [VISUAL] The rogue Star Bearer lunges. Rain sidesteps—elegantly, like a drunk swaying to invisible music. Then counters with an impossible strike that sends his enemy flying. NARRATION: He doesn't speak. He doesn't think. He reacts, like a star possessed.

[Page 9] [VISUAL] Dawn watches from her visor feed. Her voice is coming through, but the text is muted from Rain's perspective. Just jumbled, static-filled glyphs. DAWN (muffled, unreadable): ▒▒▒▒—Rain! ▒▒ YOU HAVE TO STOP!

[Page 10] [VISUAL] From Rain's POV, everything is twisted. The battlefield warps. The rogue Star Bearer looks like a many-headed serpent. Kai's voice in his comms is distorted like an echo in a cave. KAI (muffled, distant): ɐᴉɹɐɥ—ƃuᴉɯoƃɐ ǝɹ,noʎ—

[Page 11] [VISUAL] Rain leaps and crashes into his enemy. His movements are graceful, deadly, but occasionally strange—he hisses, swats like a cat, then rolls across the rocks like he's chasing a moonbeam.

[Page 12] [VISUAL] The rogue Star Bearer strikes Rain in the side. Rain doesn't even flinch. Instead, he bounces back, spins mid-air, and launches a chaotic flurry of attacks. NARRATION: There's no pattern. No logic. Just chaos wrapped in grace. The stars aren't guiding him anymore. They've let something else drive.

[Page 13] [VISUAL] Dawn speaks again, but Rain hears nothing but childlike laughter and static. DAWN (unreadable): ▒▒▒ RAIN, STOP! ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒!!

[Page 14] [VISUAL] Rain suddenly stops mid-attack, tilts his head, then burps and giggles like a baby dragon. He smacks his own chest like he's proud. NARRATION: A new instinct. Something raw. Unfamiliar. A hatchling fury in cosmic armor.

[Page 15] [VISUAL] The rogue Star Bearer tries to flee. Rain bounds after him with glee—leaping from crater to crater, shrieking with joy and fury.

[Page 16] [VISUAL] Rain opens his mouth. A guttural scream becomes a beam of energy, blasting the rogue's path apart. SFX: SKRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH!!!

[Page 17] [VISUAL] Kai opens another portal, horrified. He sees Rain through it and stumbles back. KAI: That form… That's not A-Class. It's not B-Class. That's… something else entirely.

[Page 18] [VISUAL] Luna paces near the console. LUNA: He's not in there anymore. DAWN: You mean he can't hear us? LUNA: I mean… I don't think he even remembers who we are.

[Page 19] [VISUAL] Rain pins the rogue Star Bearer to the rocks. Instead of finishing him, he crouches, sniffing curiously—then gnaws lightly on the man's helmet like a confused whelp.

[Page 20] [VISUAL] The rogue kicks free. Rain roars in frustration and curls into a spiral mid-air, tumbling erratically before landing like a beast ready to pounce.

[Page 21] [VISUAL] The fight resumes. Rain howls, bites, swings his sword backward like a tail, balances on one foot like a deranged ballet dancer, and annihilates everything he touches. NARRATION: He isn't Rain. Not now. He's something the stars tried to hide.

[Page 22] [VISUAL] The rogue Star Bearer is down. Broken. Barely alive. Rain stands over him, growling. His claws (fingers) twitch.

[Page 23] [VISUAL] Dawn arrives through a portal, breath ragged, weapon drawn. DAWN: Rain?! RAIN!!

[Page 24] [VISUAL] Rain turns to her. His eyes don't recognize her. His head tilts. He chirps. Growls. Then—slowly—steps toward her. NARRATION: He doesn't know her name. But something… something feels familiar.

[Page 25] [VISUAL] She raises her hand slowly. No weapon. Just open palms. DAWN (soft): Come back to me.

[Page 26] [VISUAL] Rain's body twitches. The aura fades just slightly. His eyes dim. SFX: thmp-thmp-thmp (heartbeat)

[Page 27] [VISUAL] His form starts to collapse. Power draining. He stumbles, crashing into Dawn's arms. DAWN: Got you. You're okay… You're okay.

[Page 28] [VISUAL] Rain's breathing is shallow. He's unconscious. The cosmic glow retracts into his chest.

[Page 29] [VISUAL] Luna peers through the rift. LUNA: I told you it would happen. KAI (quietly): That wasn't his power. That was something ancient. Something locked away.

[Page 30 ] [VISUAL] On the dark side of the moon, deep underground, something stirs. A massive eye opens. VOICE (unknown): He has awakened.

[Page 31][VISUAL] Rain spins erratically, dragging his fingers across the lunar surface. Sparks trail behind each step. He suddenly pauses, staring at his own hand like it's a foreign object.NARRATION: His thoughts are gone. What's left is instinct. Echoes. Memory without meaning.

[Page 32][VISUAL] Flash of Rain as a child, reaching toward a constellation chart his father once held.FLASHBACK VOICE (faint): "That's Draco. Protector of the North."[VISUAL] Back to present: Rain mimics the shape in the air with his claws. His eyes widen. He screeches.

[Page 33][VISUAL] He begins drawing in the lunar dust with one claw—unintelligible glyphs, circles, and stars. He scratches over it moments later in frustration, pounding his fists like a tantruming toddler.NARRATION: The baby dragon doesn't understand what he's lost. He just knows it's missing.

[Page 34][VISUAL] Luna watches the footage. Her mechanical pupils dilate.LUNA (softly): We should never have let him go alone.KAI (grim): No… We should never have let him become what they made him.

[Page 35][VISUAL] The rogue Star Bearer, crawling away, tries to activate an escape device. Rain pounces—fast as a blink—and snatches the device.[VISUAL] Instead of destroying it, Rain stares at it. Then shoves it in his mouth.NARRATION: Logic no longer governs him. Only a hunger to destroy—or understand.

[Page 36][VISUAL] Inside Rain's mind: a surreal plane of swirling black oceans and floating stars. Rain's human form flickers, bound in translucent threads of light.RAIN (echoing): I… forgot… something…[VISUAL] A small dragon version of him curls around the core of this mind space, glowing, watching.

[Page 37][VISUAL] Rain growls and suddenly throws himself into the air. He howls like a comet slicing across the horizon, crashing into a lunar ridge.SFX: KRRAAK-THOOM!

[Page 38][VISUAL] Dawn runs toward the crash site, ignoring Luna and Kai's warnings in her earpiece. Her boots crunch into the dust. She sees Rain hunched over, cradling something in his arms.DAWN (whispers): Rain…?

[Page 39][VISUAL] He looks up—eyes filled with pain, teeth bared like a cornered animal. Then… they soften. He whimpers.NARRATION: Somewhere… deep inside… the hatchling remembers warmth.

[Page 40][VISUAL] She kneels beside him. He drops the chunk of lunar rock he thought was a toy. His aura dims. His body slumps forward, breathing heavy.DAWN (whispers): That's it. You're almost back.

[Page 41][VISUAL] Suddenly, the ground beneath them begins to rumble.SFX: VRMMMMMMMMMMMKAI (through comm): GET OUT OF THERE. NOW.

[Page 42][VISUAL] From the chasm Rain crashed into, ancient ruins glow—lined with celestial symbols long forgotten.LUNA (horrified): Those aren't ruins. That's a cradle.

[Page 43][VISUAL] A massive clawed limb—stone and starlight fused—rises from the pit. Something is waking up.
