Chapter 7: Chapter 1. Part 1 | Preparation and Unpleasant Revelations
Michael P.O.V
Accepting a quest was one thing — but completing it? That was a whole different matter. In my mind, I had already started crafting plans, and building backup plans for those plans, working out different versions of how to achieve the mission's goal.
First of all, did I want those extra 500,000 points? Absolutely, without a doubt. The more points I earned, the greater my chances of gaining more real power.
So, I decided to become a sort of "behind-the-scenes" boss — the one who pulls the strings from the shadows. Everyone knows he exists, but no one truly knows who he really is. I have to admit, there's a certain… beauty in that.
And besides there's also a practical advantage in this approach, that I can't deny.
One identity will instill fear and command respect among the lowborn filth poisoning this city, enforcing strict rules where disobedience means death—also drawing the attention of the masses to itself.
And the other will live a normal, peaceful life — that of an arrogant rich young man. One that stays far from crimes, far from city mayhem, simply enjoying life. At least, that's how it will be seen on the surface.
This will save me from most of the headaches that come with a life of crime. And it'll give me the chance to quietly build up my personal power in secret—until one day, I'm strong enough that it's already too late for anyone to stop me.
How do I plan to make this happen? Simple. I'll remotely control Wonder of U and communicate with my subordinates and everyone else through it.
Yes, only Stand users can see and interact with Stands—but, you see, WOU is special in that regard. It can appear in a fully physical manifested form. In this form, it looks to regular people like an elderly man with slicked-back white hair.
It also helps that Wonder of U appears to be able to operate at an extremely long, practically unlimited range from its user.
**Oh, by the way, I completely forgot**- I opened the system display and looked at the notification

Yes, before getting rid of Hector, I looked in advance to see if there were any tasks related to this event, and I was pleasantly surprised when I found one. Of course, I accepted it right away since everything was already set to complete the assassination.
So now, after clicking the YES button, I'm enjoying my system balance of 34,400 points. It's not a huge amount, but at least now I have some currency just in case I suddenly need to spin the Gacha roll and get some items urgently.
Well, with this being settled, now all that's left is to get to the mansion and grab something from father's former study. It will be essential for the perfect execution of my plan.
We were already almost at our final destination. Through a thin veil of fog, a grand building with tall windows began to emerge on the horizon. Its dark walls and roof looked old, patches of moss creeping over them in some places.
Around the mansion and its grounds stood a tall iron fence topped with sharp spikes. The fence was supported by sturdy stone pillars evenly spaced along the perimeter. At the front, between the pillars, stood large iron gates, opening onto a wide stone driveway that split into two paths: one led down to a spacious underground garage, and the other to the main entrance.
"Home sweet home"- I murmured quietly with a slight sardonic smirk on my face.
After passing the gate intercom check, Thomas pulled the car into the yard and began driving forward-"Boss, should i drop you off here, or at the garage?"
"Hmm... well, I guess a little walk wouldn't hurt me. Take the day off today, Tommy— you've earned it."- With these words, I opened the door and stepped out of the car, immediately feeling a light, cold breeze blowing through the air.
Reaching the mansion's main entrance, I rang the doorbell. After a few seconds, the door opened, revealing a petite, young, brunette woman with soft face features, dressed in a classic maid's uniform.
"Oh, master Michael. Sorry I didn't open the door earlier—I just assumed you'd enter through the underground garage passage."- She seemed a little nervous, and her eyes were darting from side to side, never landing on me
As I stepped inside, I smirked and gently took the girl by the chin, tilting her face up, making her look at me from under her brows. Taken aback by sudden move, she froze like a deer in headlights, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Relax, my dear, no harm done at all. It's not like you made me wait"- Having thoroughly enjoyed the maid's embarrassed reaction and the sight of slightly flushed cheeks, i released her chin with a slight grin and moved past her, as if nothing had happened.
I walked through the wide front hall and made my way to the stairs that led up to the second floor, where Hector Valentine's old office was. The outside of the mansion might've looked old and worn, but the inside was a different story. My father never held back when it came to luxury. Everything was stylish and modern, and the staff made sure it was always clean and in perfect order.
On the way, I turned my head slightly to glance back at the maid, still standing frozen on the same spot- "I'll be in my study on the second floor, Amelia. Make sure no one disturbs me."
"Yes, sir" - All i heard In reply. Soft, barely audible sound from the girl, apparently just starting to come to her senses.
Making my way to the second floor and wandering through seemingly endless corridors, i finally reached the room.
I stepped inside, and locked the door behind me. The study wasn't large, but it had everything necessary: bookshelves and cabinets along the walls, a tall, dark wooden desk and a dark-red chair with a high back, and just behind it, a tall window loomed — currently covered by curtains of a similar shade.
On the table stood a black open laptop, next to it a home phone with its cord running into a small hole in the table itself. An ashtray, a dirty glass with traces of wine or some other drink, and an unfinished empty bottle without a label.
But I hardly cared about any of these things. Instead, my gaze settled on a large Mona Lisa painting, hanging on the left wall above the bookshelves, almost reaching the ceiling.
I gave a mental command to Wonder of U, who had faithfully followed my every step all this time. It passed through the wall and, after a few seconds, returned, nodding its head.
"That's what I thought. So predictable, Father."- I gave another command to WOU, and it lowered itself onto all fours by the wall. Climbing onto its back, I carefully removed the painting from its hooks, revealing the expected sight before me — a rather big metal safe with a dial lock embedded in the wall.
I didn't know the password, and as far as I know, the previous owner of this mansion didn't keep any notes anywhere- he was too paranoid and kept all important information in his head. Clever bastard
I didn't have any tools for hacking either. Shooting the lock with [The Emperor] wasn't even an option — first, I didn't want to risk damaging what's inside, and second, I didn't know if shooting the lock would actually open the safe.
The other option was Wonder of U, but he didn't have much physical strength — after all, he specializes in different things.
And considering everything above, there was only one option left — Gacha. I didn't find anything (what I could afford) in the shop that could help with cracking the safe, so I'll have to spend 10,000 G.P and hope I get something useful.
Sighing in frustration, I got down from WOU's back, letting him finally stand up from all fours. I sat down on the table, crossed one leg over the other, opened the system screen, and went to the [Gacha Roll] tab.
Alright, here we go. Hope I get something of use.

-10.000 G.P
[The Gacha Roll has been spun! Here are your rewards:]
[Null-tier]
Bad start.
[Bronze-tier Jojo item: Johnny Joestar's Wheelchair]
The wheelchair of a disabled cowboy who shoots nails from his fingers.
**They'll see you rolling and they'll hate it.**
... No comments on that.
[Bronze-tier Gacha points: 500]
Better, but not quite it.
[Bronze-tier Gacha points: 500]
Come on, last slot — give me something useful.
[Null-tier]
... ...Well, that was terrible. I guess I'll have to do another roll then. **sigh**
-10.000 G.P
[The Gacha Roll has been spun! Here are your rewards:]
[Silver-tier Upgrade card: Hidden Potential]
[Bronze-tier boost card]
Alright, that gives me hope.
[Null-tier]
Come on, we started off soo well.
[Silver-tier Stand Card: Hermit Purple]
Hermit Purple appears as long, purple, thorny vines. The Stand extends from the user's hands and allows to grab and hold objects. Can also be used as weapon or for movement. The previous owner was Joseph Joestar.
Stats-
Power: 3
Speed: 3
Range: 4
Durability: 3
Precision: 4
Development Potential: 10
Abilities
Divination- Allows the user to create "spiritual images" of people, things, or events when the Stand interacts with photographs (Breaking them in the process) or produce live psychic videos on a television.
Tech Check- By wrapping the vines around the machinery, you can see if it has been tampered with in some way.
Ripple Transmission(Locked)- The ability to transmit the power of Hamon through Hermit Purple, significantly improving the Stand's stats, but only temporarily.
Hmm, that's a +1 Stand to the collection, but I don't fully understand how it works yet. I'll need to experiment with it somehow when i have free time. But for right now — my last hope is the final slot, otherwise I'll have to spend my last money on one last roll.
[Silver-tier Stand Card: Sticky Fingers]
A tall, slim humanoid stand with a muscular build. Its upper face is hidden by a helmet-like mask decorated with a mohawk-like row of short spikes. Its body is covered in a blue bodysuit, with the white chest and stomach exposed. Zippers varying in size hang from the base of its neck and abdomen, the back of its hands, and the top of its feet.
Stats-
Power: 6
Speed: 7
Range: 3
Durability: 6
Precision: 6
Development Potential: 10
Abilities
Zippers- Sticky Fingers' main power lets it create zippers on any surface it touches with its fist, which it can open or close remotely whenever it wants.
As soon as I read the stand's ability description, my eyes lit up with a little excitement.
There it is! If i understood how it works correctly, there are no more closed doors or walls I can't pass through. Besides, I now had a combat Stand with decent physical strength, but I considered that just a bonus, nothing more.
Without even thinking twice, I used the card on myself and summoned it immediately. As soon as I did that and a blue-and-white humanoid appeared before me, I felt that the previously summoned Wonder of U had vanished — or rather, desummoned.
**Oh? So that means I can only summon one Stand at a time?**
That was definitely limiting — good thing I found out about it now and not later, in some life-or-death situation.
Sighing in frustration—probably for the second time today, which was unusual for me—I gave a mental command to Sticky Fingers. It immediately levitated up to the ceiling, positioning its face level with the safe, then swung its fist hard against the metal surface. Instantly, a long yellow zipper appeared where the punch landed, and the Stand opened it to pull out big carton box.
Sticky Fingers lowered itself to the ground holding the box, then walked over to the table where I was sitting and placed it beside me. Seeing that Stand had done its job, I immediately dismissed it and summoned WOU again. I didn't want to risk being left without its protection.
For some reason, when I did that, my body and mind suddenly felt heavier. **A side effect of switching between Stands?** Doesn't matter — I'll figure it out later.
I carefully lifted the box lid and set it aside. Inside was a large stack of file folders. I took one of them, unfolded it, and began studying its contents.
Slowly, a wide grin started to spread across my face. That's what I thought — the reason my father had so many powerful people wrapped around his damn finger. Here he kept blackmail material on almost every person of value in Gotham. Gang leaders, businessmen, reporters, police officers, alive, dead, adults, young.
There were photos, documents about money write-offs and transfers, video tapes and so much more — this box held so much dirt that even farm pigs don't see that much in their whole lives.
And now this will serve as one of my weapons to conquer and rule this whole town. I feel one step closer to my goal.
Now I just need to play my cards right.
