Chapter 47: Chapter 46: Zoom
Chapter 46: Zoom
(At Oliver Queen's House)
"What the hell is happening here…" Felicity Smoke couldn't help but question as she saw the massive energy readings showing up on her phone.
Cisco had asked her to repurpose a couple of Palmer Technologies satellites to scan the entire world for the Man in Blue's energy signature.
Right now, Team Arrow and Flash were celebrating that Thea seems to have gotten better.
"Whatever that man did, he definitely did us a favour." Diggle couldn't help but say as he took a sip of his beer.
"I couldn't agree more…I haven't felt more at peace in my entire life." Thea commented.
She was referring to how Naruta and Kurama were able to pull out the artificial bloodlust injected into her.
A side effect for resurrecting from the Lazarus Pit.
Oliver, who was currently in a jovial mood, looked at Felicity's shocked expression and couldn't help but move towards her.
"Everything okay?" He asked in a calming, reassuring tone.
"I don't think so." She said, as she showed the energy readings coming from her phone.
Oliver looked up from her phone to make eye contact with Barry who was right there.
Barry quickly moved towards the duo, and Cisco who was also there moved to see the commotion of what was going on.
The entire room sensed the change in atmosphere and couldn't help but look at the group that was slowly beginning to form.
"What's happening there?" Thea couldn't help but ask.
Right as she did ask that, a brilliant shining blue light filled the entirety of Starling Cities skies.
It seemed as if the entire world itself was resonating with the energy, making a beautiful sight form in the normally clear skies.
"Suit up." Oliver said in a calm tone, as the entire group of people began to move.
After all, The Arrow, Speedy, and Spartan were all inside of the same room. Which basically consisted of most of the current heroes inside of Starling City.
…
(Lucas POV)
As I flew into the air and looked down, Steel was able to easily scan the portion of the city we were inside off.
It didn't take him long for him to be able to sense the Dark Matter signatures of Meta Humans using their powers around us.
"Lucas, someone is running towards you at Super Speed….it is not the Flash!"
Right as he said that, at the building directly below me, a man inside of an extremely dark blue suit appeared.
Dark Blue lightning crackled around him as he looked up and stared at me, and was solely fixated on me.
"I would come down if I were you." The man said in his extremely disturbing voice that sent chills down my spine.
I was only able to hear him since Steel was able to enhance my auditory functions with relative ease.
The moment the man spoke, recognition hit me like a freight train. Zoom.
His cold, calculating eyes were locked on me.
Steel didn't need to say anything—I could feel the tension in his silence.
"Zoom," I muttered under my breath, more to myself than anyone else.
My fists clenched involuntarily as I forced myself to steady my breathing. This wasn't the kind of fight I wanted, not now, not with Blair, Anya, and the others relying on me to keep them safe.
"Lucas, I suggest retreat—he's significantly faster than you in your current state," Steel said, his voice calm but urgent.
I knew Steel was right.
I was already burning more Fusion Energy than I could afford to, after all, I had 3 Speedster clones rushing people to safety.
Far away from this mess, at the extreme opposite of the current location.
They also had to avoid meta-humans and take tons of detours to confuse the enemy.
Zoom's dark blue lightning flared as he tilted his head slightly, clearly waiting for me to make a move. "You know who I am," he said, his tone dripping with malice.
"Good. That'll save us some time."
I didn't respond. Instead, I adjusted my stance mid-air, preparing for whatever was about to come.
My mind raced through options, but none of them looked good. Fighting Zoom was a death sentence, especially without backup.
"I don't have time for your games, Zoom," I finally said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I've got things to do."
Zoom's laugh echoed chillingly, distorted and menacing. "Oh, Lucas, that's the problem with people like you. Always trying to play the hero. It's pathetic."
His figure blurred for a split second before reappearing on another rooftop closer to me. "But don't worry. I'll teach you how futile it really is."
Steel's voice cut in sharply. "Lucas, he's testing you. He wants you to engage. Stick to the plan."
I glanced toward the direction my clones were heading, carrying Blair and the others to safety. I couldn't let him follow them.
As I poured every ounce of Turbo Energy into my Pulsers, my Bio-armor roared to life, propelling me through the air at incredible speeds.
The glow of my armor intensified, streaking a brilliant trail of blue light across the sky as I dashed away from Zoom, staying just out of his reach.
The air crackled around me, a testament to the raw energy I was expending.
"Steel," I said through gritted teeth, my voice firm despite the adrenaline coursing through me, "I need the perfect pathway—one that takes me through the densest clusters of Meta-Humans."
Steel's response was instantaneous, his calm voice a steadying presence in the chaos.
"Understood. Calculating the optimal route now. You'll pass through three known Meta-Human zones within the next thirty seconds. Adjusting your trajectory."
I swerved mid-air, following Steel's guidance as the city blurred beneath me.
My plan wasn't perfect—hell, it was barely a plan—but it was the only shot I had.
"If I can drag Zoom into a mess of other Metas, maybe they'll slow him down. Or better yet, they'll waste each other's time," I muttered, half to Steel and half to myself.
Steel chimed in again, his tone measured. "It's a risky move, Lucas. But if executed correctly, it could buy you the time you need."
"I'll take risky over dead," I replied, my eyes scanning the city below for signs of the first cluster. Behind me, I could feel Zoom's presence, his dark blue lightning crackling ominously as he kept pace, never too far behind.
The first Meta-Human zone came into view—a group of figures glowing with various energies, their powers unmistakable even from this height.
"Here goes nothing," I said, diving toward them.
It all seemed futile.
Just as I approached the cluster of Meta-Humans, hoping to use their presence as a distraction, Zoom materialized in front of them in a blur of dark blue lightning.
His speed was terrifying, a reminder of just how far out of my league he truly was.
Before the Metas could even process what was happening, Zoom's hand shot forward, vibrating at an unnatural frequency.
One by one, he plunged his hand into their chests with horrifying precision.
"He's…" Zoom said, his voice cold and unfeeling as his hand remained buried in the first victim's chest.
"…Mine," he finished, pulling his hand free, now dripping with blood.
The Meta collapsed lifelessly, and the others barely had time to react before he turned his attention to them, repeating the gruesome act.
I froze for a split second, the sheer brutality of the scene sending a chill down my spine. Steel's voice snapped me back to reality. "Lucas, move! Now!"
Without hesitation, I surged forward, forcing my Pulsers to their limit, knowing that staying even a second longer could mean my death.
As I darted through the sky, Zoom's presence loomed like a nightmare chasing me through the city.
His speed was unimaginable, a blur of dark blue lightning that followed me relentlessly, never giving me a moment to breathe.
The sound of his crackling energy filled the air, growing louder with each passing second.
Then, without warning, he hurled bolts of lightning at me—each one crackling with raw, violent power.
I quickly channeled every ounce of Turbo energy through Steel, redirecting it into devastating Turbo Chargers that I launched back toward him, hoping to at least slow him down.
But Zoom wasn't fazed.
The bolts collided with the air around him, but he barely flinched. His focus never wavered.
I had the advantage of height—he couldn't reach me in the air. Or so I thought.
With a sudden burst of speed, Zoom ran up the side of a building, his legs moving with impossible precision.
The sound of his footsteps reverberated like thunder as he defied gravity itself, scaling the structure as if it were nothing more than a simple incline.
My heart skipped a beat as I realized what he was doing.
He leapt—no, launched himself—into the air, his body twisting in mid-flight with terrifying speed.
