Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Electric Shock and Explosion
After confirming that bullets posed no threat to him, Russell flexed his hands and then, controlling his strength, charged toward the Hydra soldiers.
Having experienced being stuck on the ceiling earlier, Russell now had a rough understanding of his current strength. As a result, he did not dare to use his full power in the relatively small operating room.
Although Russell wasn't going all out, his speed far exceeded the expectations of the Hydra soldiers.
The Hydra soldiers, who had just reloaded their weapons, could not even see Russell's movements clearly. To them, Russell seemed to teleport right in front of them, followed by a lightning-fast punch.
These Hydra soldiers were well-trained elites, but in front of Russell, they were little more than motionless puppets.
One punch, one soldier down. This feeling was absolutely exhilarating!
Against absolute strength and speed, the Hydra soldiers had no chance to resist. In their panic, they even shot and injured several of their own comrades.
From the moment Russell launched his attack, to the moment all the soldiers were lying on the ground, less than twenty seconds had passed.
In the observation room nearby, Jack, a man dressed in Hydra combat gear, and the commanding officer of the Hydra soldiers in this facility, looked furious.
Beside him, the researchers in white lab coats were all visibly excited.
Two squads, a total of twelve well-trained soldiers, had not even lasted twenty seconds.
For Jack who was responsible for overseeing the security of the entire base, this was a slap in the face, a hard one at that.
"Switch to armor-piercing rounds! Get the high-caliber sniper rifles! I want that monster dead in the operating room!"
At Jack's command, the soldiers who were rushing to provide backup turned around and headed to the armory to change their weapons...
Upon hearing Jack's order, the bald doctor who had administered the Abomination Serum earlier rushed over, tearing off his mask and shouting at Jack in a near-roar, "Commander Jack, you can't do this! This is our only surviving test subject! We need critical experimental data from him. He absolutely cannot die!"
"I don't give a damn if he's the only surviving test subject! Look at the soldiers lying in there!" Jack roared back as he pointed at the operating room...
With that, the already furious Jack grabbed the bald doctor's head and pressed his face against the one-way glass, speaking word by word, "If we don't kill him, everyone in this base will die!"
Only then did the bald doctor snap out of his excitement and break free from Jack's grip, "Then don't kill him! Use the electroshock cannons. As long as he is a biological form, he can't resist electric shocks!"
"If the higher-ups find out you killed the only surviving test subject, you know the consequences!" Once he regained his composure, the bald doctor's intelligence returned to the forefront, and he looked confident.
Though reluctant, Jack had to abandon his initial plan to kill Russell on the spot, and issued a new order, "Prepare the electroshock cannons and the electroshock explosive collars. Execute the electroshock capture plan!"
While the Hydra soldiers were no match for Russell, their efficiency was still worthy of elite soldiers.
Before long, the soldiers, now armed with new weapons, had completely surrounded the corridor outside the operating room.
As soon as Russell stepped out of the operating room, before he could even get his bearings, a fist-sized pale blue 'energy' orb came flying toward him at lightning speed.
Russell didn't know what this energy orb was, but he still dodged it with utmost seriousness.
Although Russell wasn't afraid of ordinary bullets now, this was a Hydra secret base. Who knew what kind of high-damage mysterious weapons they might have developed here?
With his superhuman strength and speed, he easily dodged the first energy orb.
But what he did not expect was that Hydra's attack wasn't limited to just one.
To be safe, the soldiers had brought out all the electroshock cannons from the armory. So, what Russell now faced wasn't just one energy orb, but ten.
The corridor outside the operating room wasn't particularly large, and ten electroshock cannons could easily achieve saturation coverage.
Although Russell dodged the first few energy orbs, the remaining seven hit him with pinpoint accuracy.
The moment the first energy orb struck him, Russell knew he was in trouble.
An intense electric current instantly coursed through his entire body, slowing him down and sending unbearable pain surging through him.
As the energy orbs struck him one after another, Russell lost the strength to stand by the time the fifth one hit him.
The last two energy orbs knocked him out completely.
In the hazy moments before losing consciousness, Russell vaguely saw a soldier holding a collar-like device rushing toward him and fastening it around his neck.
...
When Russell woke up again, he was no longer in the operating room. Instead, he found himself in an empty room with only a metal mannequin standing in the center.
As Russell regained consciousness, Commander Jack's voice echoed through the room via a loudspeaker.
"9527, this is your new combat designation!"
"On your neck is our latest invention: the Electroshock Explosive Collar. If you don't want your head blown to pieces, I suggest you don't try to remove it!"
"Now, let me demonstrate the power of this collar..."
The metal mannequin in front of Russell also wore an Electroshock Explosive Collar. At Jack's command, the collar's blue indicator light turned red, and a visible surge of electricity coursed through the mannequin's body...
When the electric shock ended, the collar's red indicator light began flashing rapidly, emitting a series of sharp, piercing sounds.
A few seconds later, the seemingly small collar unleashed an astonishing explosion.
*BOOM*
The shockwaves from the massive explosion sent Russell flying, slamming him hard against the room's wall.
Only then did Russell realize that the walls of this room were also made entirely of some sort of metal.
As the smoke from the explosion cleared, the metal mannequin was completely unrecognizable. What had once been a life-sized metal figure was now reduced to fist-sized fragments.
Russell casually picked up one of the fragments, testing the hardness of the metal.
After tossing the slightly deformed metal fragment aside, Russell silently cursed himself.
'Sh*t, I was too careless!'
