Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Transmigration, Marvel
As a shut-in programmer, Russell never imagined that creating a homemade gacha game could have such serious consequences.
Russell loved superhero movies and comics, so he made a simple superhero game for himself called 'DC Apostle'.
The game wasn't particularly sophisticated, it was similar to a gacha type game made by a famous domestic gaming company.
According to the game's design, 'DC Apostle' allowed players to randomly draw superpowers or items from DC comics or movies. There was even a small chance to directly summon a DC character as an apostle.
The drawn superpowers or items would be attached to the player's character, enhancing their abilities. In short, the game allowed players to create their own superhero or supervillain by drawing abilities from other already existing heroes or villains.
After completing the initial setup for 'DC Apostle', Russell naturally became the first and only beta tester of the game.
However, he never expected that this seemingly routine beta test would catapult him directly into the Marvel Universe.
...
Looking around at the various unfamiliar instruments and the unmistakable Hydra logo on the wall, Russell fell silent.
As an avid reader of web novels, Russell was no stranger to the concepts of transmigrating or reincarnating into another world. It was a cliché trope that had been overused to the highest heaven...
However, when it actually happened to him, it was far from the glamorous experience depicted in fiction, especially when he found himself strapped to an operating table, unable to move.
In this mysterious operating room, aside from the restrained Russell, there was a bald doctor wearing a mask and a white surgical gown, along with several young nurses whose faces were obscured but whose figures looked quite attractive.
The bald doctor was slowly approaching Russell, holding a metal device filled with a green liquid.
Before Russell could even open his mouth to speak, a cold mechanical voice echoed through the room.
"Abomination Project, Test Subject 996, experiment commencing..."
"Abomination Serum: 1000 milliliters.
- Gamma Radiation Neutralizer: 100 milliliters.
- Super Soldier Enhancement Serum Type 3: 100 milliliters.
- Tissue Recovery Serum: 50 milliliters..."
Once the mechanical voice stopped, the bald doctor walked to Russell's right side and attached the metal device to the mechanical injector on the operating table.
"Can we negotiate? Can you give me some anesthesia first? I'm a bit scared of pain..." Russell thought.
If this were any other situation, he might have tried to bargain. But when he recalled the Hydra logo on the wall, he immediately abandoned that idea.
This was Hydra, the archenemy of S.H.I.E.L.D... a villainous organization bent on world domination. If such an organization would spare him just because he begged for mercy, it would not deserve its reputation as a villainous syndicate.
So, instead of pleading, Russell decided to remain calm (outwardly). At the very least, it would make his death look a bit more dignified.
From the moment he realized he had somehow crossed over into this world, only a few minutes had passed.
The benefits of transmigrating were yet to be felt, but the threat of death was right in front of him, like a mischievous Shinigami (Grim Reaper) dangling a lollipop in his face.
The bald doctor heard Russell's request but didn't respond. Instead, he gave Russell a cold, lifeless stare, as if he were already looking at a corpse.
Based on the doctor's past experiences, Russell would be saying goodbye to this world in about a minute.
Russell was the 996th test subject in the Abomination Project, which meant there were 995 subjects before him.
So far, all of them had died in excruciating pain within a minute of being injected with the Abomination Serum.
The Abomination Project, as the name suggested, was a plan to mass-produce Abomination soldiers. After the Hulk and Abomination wreaked havoc in New York, Hydra became fixated on these superhuman creatures capable of going toe-to-toe with the Hulk.
Hydra went to great lengths to obtain some of the Abomination Serum from General Ross...
After acquiring it, they thoroughly investigated Abomination, also known as Emil Blonsky, uncovering even the secret that Blonsky had been injected with enhancement serums twice under General Ross's supervision.
While Hydra was not entirely sure what kind of enhancement serums General Ross had used on Blonsky, it wasn't a problem for them. Hydra had plenty of Super Soldier Enhancement Serums in their possession.
Once they understood the general enhancement path, the rest was just a matter of trial and error. Thus, the Abomination Project was born, along with the unfortunate 995 test subjects who came before Russell.
Test Subject 996 not only represented Russell's test number but also indicated that he was the 996th experimental formula.
"Abomination Project, Test Subject 996, experiment commencing!"
"Recording test subject's vital signs. Recording Abomination Serum injection response. Recording gamma radiation levels..."
As the mechanical voice rang out, the staff in the operating room quickly left, leaving only Russell strapped to the operating table.
"Hydra, I curse your ancestors!"
Feeling the green Abomination Serum entering his body, Russell couldn't help but curse. At the same time, he silently vowed that if he survived this, he would make Hydra experience true despair...
...
As the Abomination Serum and other enhancement serums entered his body, Russell's body began to react violently.
It was an indescribable pain. The Abomination Serum felt like molten lava coursing through his veins and wreaking havoc wherever it went.
Wherever the serum passed, it left behind destruction and scars. But as the Abomination Serum moved on, the other serums and agents kicked in, rapidly repairing the damage caused by the serum.
Tearing, destruction, devastation!
Healing, repair, regeneration!
This cycle repeated continuously within Russell's body, bringing immense pain to both his body and soul.
By now, Russell did not even have the strength to curse Hydra. The only thing in his mind was pain, unbearable, indescribable pain.
On Hydra's monitoring equipment, all of Russell's vital signs had far exceeded normal ranges. His heart rate and body temperature, in particular, had reached absurd levels.
A normal person's heart rate is usually under 200 beats per minute, but Russell's heart was now beating over 1 000 times per minute...
To put it vividly, his heart was running like a high-speed electric motor.
The frantic beating of his heart also caused his body temperature to skyrocket. Russell now looked like a boiled shrimp, his skin bright red and constantly emitting heat.
If no miracle occurred, Russell's journey through this world would undoubtedly come to an end. Whether there would be another transmigrating or rebirth was something only the god of transmigration could know.
Just as a Shinigami (Grim Reaper) holding a scythe and a lollipop continued to tempt Russell, a series of mechanical voices suddenly rang out in his mind.
