Chapter 46: The second throne
1. The Realm of Dreams
Ash had no awareness of time.
No pain.
No body.
Only the void.
Then—he stood.
His feet touched nothing, but he stood upright. Above him, a thousand stars swirled in a spiraling, dreamlike vortex.
Around him was a great fog of white and green.
Then—two forms emerged before him.
Two Thrones.
---
2. The First Throne – Necrotic Oath
The first was familiar.
Black stone etched with deep silver veins.
Chains of spiritual energy curled along its armrests.
A faint mist of blue and ash danced near its base.
It was his Necromancer's Throne—the one granted to him by the forbidden scroll.
Shen Mu appeared beside it in flickers of spirit-light.
> "You've nurtured this throne," he said, arms folded. "It grows stronger. More defined. It will one day become more than a seat of death."
Ash stepped toward it.
The throne pulsed in recognition. A ripple of his soul echoed in response.
But then—
A gust of green wind struck the void.
---
3. The Second Throne – The Sovereign's Awakening
Ash turned.
The second throne towered before him.
Twice as large.
Carved not of stone, but a material that shimmered between jade and emerald fire.
Its back curled upward like wings, its base scorched with the sigils of ancient beasts—the Yin-Yang Lion, the Vyren, and the forging spirit.
It was alive.
> "This…" Ash whispered, "...isn't mine."
But it called to him. Pulled him.
> "It is now," Shen Mu said behind him, voice lower.
Ash stepped forward, hand outstretched—
And the throne rumbled.
From its base, a beast-shaped mist emerged.
The Lion.
The Bull.
The Golden Ape.
The Blade-smith.
All three spirits bowed before the throne.

4. The Truth of Thrones
Shen Mu's voice echoed from above now.
> "The Necromancer's Throne was given. Forbidden. A secret path."
> "But this new throne…"
> "It was earned."
Ash looked back at him.
> "What is it?"
> "A throne of the Prime Beastblood Lineage. The bloodline once believed extinct. Only one ever sat on such a throne… and he was the one who led beasts against gods."
The green throne pulsed.
> "It accepted you."
---
5. A Throne for a King of Beasts
Ash looked between the two.
One—black, cold, mysterious.
One—green, blazing, dominant.
> "Will they merge?" he asked.
Shen Mu shook his head.
> "No. You will walk a path no one has ever walked. A dual throne cultivator. Two spirits. Two lineages. Two powers."
> "But keep them secret. If either throne is discovered before you ascend…"
He didn't finish.
Ash knew what he meant.
---
6. Waking Cracks
The dream-realm began to shake.
The thrones trembled.
The beasts looked up.
Ash clutched his chest. A heat surged through his veins.
Shen Mu's voice shouted above the storm.
> "One throne raises kings. Two… raise emperors. But you must not stumble. If either side consumes you… you will die as a monster, not rise as a god!"
---
7. Return to the Flesh
Ash's eyes snapped open.
He was no longer in the altar.
He was inside a giant cocoon of glowing mist—somewhere unfamiliar, with beasts watching from afar and strange energy still flowing through his body.
His spiritual pool had grown vast.
Both thrones pulsed in his soul space—quiet now, but alive.
Ash gasped, looking at his hands.
> "What… have I become?"
