DanMachi: Ultimate Lich King

Chapter 92: DULK: Chapter 92

Illya is homunculus. However, Jubstacheit had implanted vast knowledge into her mind at birth, accelerating her mental development.

Despite her knowledge, Illya was far from a typical adult.

Knowledge without practice remained just that; Illya only had a superficial understanding of things.

But determined to be a good wife.

Gathering courage, Illya spoke to Arthas.

"Ar… Arthas, let's hug!"

Arthas was stunned, staring at Illya, completely bewildered.

"What hug while we sleep?"

"Arthas… haven't you done that with someone you love?"

Illya considered herself a substitute for Riveria, but knowing Arthas was gentleman made her happy.

I'll be the first woman to be with him.

"No… I've only kissed her. Nothing more."

As Illya drew closer, a faint fragrance wafted; Arthas was flustered. As Illya leaned against his chest, his hands landed on Illya's shoulders.

Arthas's sudden action startled Illya; she felt herself lifted, her head forced up to meet his gaze.

"Ar… Arthas… what's wrong?"

"Did… did I do something wrong, husband?"

Illya asked timidly, seeking guidance.

Arthas smiled, leaning close to Illya's ear.

"No, you're doing great."

Illya was stunned, then blushed.

She mustered her courage; Illya leaned towards Arthas's chest.

Einzbern was perpetually cold. Strangely, she felt no cold.

Arthas shook his head. Lying on the bed, Illya shyly curled up.

She stared at Arthas, wanting to imprint his image into her soul.

Illya had seen Arthas's ice magic through the crystal ball in the dining room. Though a fleeting glimpse, his elegant movements captivated her.

Perhaps that's why she felt no cold?

Perhaps it was simply shyness; Illya wanted to distract herself. Focusing on Arthas was too embarrassing.

Is this happiness? Illya smiled, blushing.

Illya, who had never had a purpose, finally found meaning in her life—for this man, her husband. To dedicate everything to him, to bring him the Grail and fulfill his wish.

This… is enough. Despite the surrounding snow, the room felt warm.

...

"I'm sorry"

Arthas said as Illya awoke the next morning.

Seeing Arthas's dejected expression, Illya was amused and confused.

"Why apologize?"

"Because… of last night…"

Arthas said awkwardly.

"I'm sorry"

Illya found this serious apology funny, then pouted.

"You… still don't like me."

"We… we did it, and you still don't treat me as your wife?"

Arthas was about to explain when Illya leaned in, silencing him with a kiss.

Afterward, Illya blushed, lowering her head, pulling the covers to conceal herself.

Arthas said, "Let's get dressed; don't catch a cold."

Seeing Illya's efforts to please him, Arthas felt touched and amused. But he didn't want to push her further.

His wife needed protection and care.

As Illya and Arthas got dressed, a knock came.

"Enter."

Arthas said, surprised. A maid entered with a food cart.

"Miss, Sir, breakfast."

"Thank you."

Arthas nodded; the maid bowed.

"Please join the master in the drawing-room after breakfast."

The maid left. Though Arthas's opinion of Jubstacheit had changed, he'd slept with his granddaughter; this meeting was necessary.

Their wedding was simple—no ceremony or feast.

Arthas didn't mind; he was alone in this world, with no family to invite.

Jubstacheit hadn't considered this; Illya was merely a means to secure Arthas.

The only disappointed one was Illya; though prepared and aware of her fate, she wanted to be a normal wife for these ten years.
