DanMachi: Ultimate Lich King

Chapter 90: DULK: Chapter 90

"Leave. I'll represent Einzbern; you're disqualified."

Arthas said coldly to Kiritsugu Emiya, who frowned but didn't leave.

"Is this Jubstacheit's order? Why the change? We agreed I'd represent Einzbern."

Kiritsugu kept his hand on his briefcase, watching Arthas vigilantly; he sensed immense danger.

He'd felt this many times before; the mages he'd killed were all notorious, hence their pursuit by the Mage's Association.

Though wary, Kiritsugu wasn't afraid; he thought assassinating the boy would be easy.

What was Jubstacheit thinking? Letting a child participate in the Holy Grail War?

This kid is here to cause trouble!

Kiritsugu thought, but Arthas didn't explain. Seeing Kiritsugu's hesitation, he attacked.

He didn't intend to kill him, but it was a warning. An ice spike from Arthas's palm shot towards Kiritsugu.

Kiritsugu frowned, swiftly dodging the spike.

As he dodged, he opened his briefcase, revealing a folded machine gun.

Arthas was surprised; Kiritsugu's use of a machine gun was unexpected.

This guy's a mage? Why is he using firearms?

Though he'd never seen a machine gun in Orario, Arthas understood its purpose.

He found it amusing; what use would it be in a mage battle?

As Arthas thought this, Kiritsugu, moving constantly, fired at him. Arthas ignored the seemingly ridiculous attack; frost formed a shield, blocking the bullets.

"If that's all you've got, stop embarrassing yourself. The Holy Grail War isn't child's play!"

Kiritsugu was frustrated; Arthas had said what he wanted to say, and he couldn't refute it.

He couldn't fight head-on. Kiritsugu knew he could kill the boy in many ways, but not in a direct confrontation.

He could use his magical artifact.

But Kiritsugu wouldn't waste it; he had no reason to kill the boy.

Kiritsugu was ruthless but not a senseless killer.

Killing the boy to participate in the Holy Grail War would contradict his purpose.

The war was ten years away; there was ample time to prepare; he didn't need to be tied to the Einzbern family.

Since someone had already secured Einzbern's spot, he'd find another way.

"Knowing the Holy Grail War isn't child's play, are you prepared to die? What's your wish?"

Before giving up, Kiritsugu wanted to know why the boy was participating in the dangerous Holy Grail War.

Kiritsugu knew what the war meant. Even the strongest mages were no different from ordinary people in this seven-person death game.

Human bodies were fragile and easily destroyed by Heroic Spirits.

"My wish… is to go home. Leave; don't return to Einzbern."

Arthas turned to leave, leaving Kiritsugu alone in the snow.

"Home? Your resolve is insufficient… you'll die in this war!"

Kiritsugu packed his weapons and left without hesitation.

He never seemed interested in Einzbern or Illyasviel.

His goal was to be recognized by Einzbern and participate in the war.

Having failed, he'd find other means to participate.

Jubstacheit sighed, watching this through the crystal ball.

He'd seen Arthas and Kiritsugu clash, but their skirmish didn't reveal who was stronger.

Arthas seemed to have the upper hand, but Kiritsugu hadn't used his trump card.

Jubstacheit didn't believe the mage killer would fight a mage with a machine gun.

"The Master is secondary; the Servants are the main players. Arthas, with his immense mana, is a better choice."

Jubstacheit said; Illya lowered her head, lost in thought.
