Chapter 114: DULK: Chapter 114
Approximately thirty kilometers west of Fuyuki City's bustling streets lies a national highway running east-west, traversing a remote, uninhabited mountain range. Lush forests border the highway, seemingly untouched by the wave of land development.
The land may be state-owned, but land registry records show it belongs to a foreign company whose existence is unconfirmed. Investigating this land reveals a peculiar urban legend.
Legend speaks of a "mythical city" deep within the forest.
Of course, this is just a whimsical tale. The forest is undeveloped, but easily accessible within an hour's drive from Fuyuki. A remarkable castle would be well-known. Surveys have been conducted, but no artificial structures were found.
Yet, the legend resurfaces every few years.
Children, half-playing, half-exploring, entered the forest. A lost hiker as well. They saw a magnificent stone castle emerge from the mist—uninhabited, yet well-maintained, giving the illusion of occupancy. A bizarre, mysterious castle.
No one believes this; it's a summer ghost story in a third-rate magazine.
Only a few mages know the castle's true existence.
It opens only once every sixty years to a Master participating in the war; a magical castle.
The castle is shrouded in illusions and magical barriers, rarely visible. It's a peculiar space. Those who know of it call the forest "Einzbern Forest."
During the Holy Grail War in Fuyuki, Jubstacheit von Einzbern, head of the Einzbern family, deemed establishing a base on Tohsaka's territory unwise.
He used the family's wealth to purchase land near Fuyuki with a strong ley line, as Einzbern's base. This was before the Third Holy Grail War, a time of tension before World War II.
The vast forest was sealed, isolated from the outside world; the Einzbern family moved their castle there. This demonstrates their immense wealth and dedication to the Grail. Tohsaka's efforts to acquire land in Fuyuki pale in comparison.
In the morning, after a good night's rest, Arthas and Illya awoke; Flandre was still asleep.
Arthas didn't disturb her; he knew her identity.
The Scarlet family wasn't ordinary; they were vampires; Flandre was a vampire.
Vampires sleep during the day and are active at night.
Flandre wasn't incapable of daytime activity; she was simply too lazy; she preferred sleeping.
The couple prepared a delicious breakfast, chatting as they ate; a news report interrupted them.
"The Hyatt Hotel in Fuyuki was attacked; the building was destroyed?"
Arthas put down his utensils, repeating the news.
"Was it him?"
Illya looked worried.
"Yes… the mage killer,"
Arthas nodded; Lancer's disappearance suggested his Master's location.
Combined with last night's information, they knew he was from a prestigious Clock Tower family, the nine-generation mage family, the Aegir family; a talented mage.
Such an arrogant man wouldn't stay in an ordinary hotel; the luxurious Hyatt was his likely location.
But destroying the entire building demonstrated Kiritsugu Emiya's ruthlessness.
Such ruthless enemies were terrifying; you never knew what they'd do next.
"Illya, stay close to me; he'll target you as my weakness,"
Arthas said seriously; Illya nodded obediently.
"We have a significant advantage. The misunderstanding makes everyone believe Flandre is a Caster. A Caster, adept at positional warfare, hiding in the barrier-protected Einzbern Forest—a formidable defense. No one will attack soon."
"Of the seven Servants, Assassin is gone; Saber will face Lancer; besides the unknown Caster, our main threats are Rider and Archer."
Arthas shrugged, smiling.
"Though unpleasant, they're kings; they wouldn't resort to underhanded tactics against a girl. In a fair fight, Flandre won't lose."
Arthas spoke with confidence, showing his trust in Flandre.
