DanMachi: It's destined to lose its self.

Chapter 30: Salvation.

Two figures stood frozen, watching Kopii sleep peacefully, his body seemingly reborn after the torment he had endured. The silence was broken by one of them in a soft voice:

"Who could have brought him to such a state?" Finishing her sentence, she looked up at her companion.

"Most of the wounds are torn, as if from bites. Considering what floor we're on… it's most likely killer ants. Novices often overestimate their abilities, going lower and lower until they meet their end at the hands of these creatures. There's a reason they're called 'novice killers'. But look here, at this pool of blood…"

"I see. It looks like after winning, he couldn't move and crawled. But the strangest thing is his leg. That wound is not the work of ants. Maybe he encountered other monsters along the way… or other adventurers left it."

A heavy silence hung between them. Both knew that betrayal and clashes between groups were not uncommon in the dungeon. There were many reasons for this: greed, inability to divide the loot… So, finding the culprit was a futile endeavor.

"What are we going to do with him? I don't think he'll wake up soon. If we leave him here, he'll die."

"Let's just take him to the surface with us. We're going up anyway, and we'll see what happens there."

"Logical."

They lifted Kopii and continued their way up. Soon, they were at the entrance to the Babel Tower.

"What now? Maybe take him to the hospital?"

"Why? Let's just take him to his family."

"You said you don't know who he is?"

"Yes, but I know he's from the Miyahe family."

"You read his Falna?"

"A little."

"Fate!" Kopii exclaimed, abruptly sitting up. He looked around the unfamiliar room in confusion, but in that same instant, he understood – it was his room. Bewilderment grew. He remembered dying in the dungeon, dreaming about his past…

"What…?" Kopii whispered. "How…?"

He threw off the blanket and examined his body. It was completely healthy, with no trace of wounds. The more he examined himself, the more he fell into a stupor. Kopii leaned back on the pillow, staring at the ceiling, trying to understand how he got here and who saved him.

For a while, he just stared at the ceiling, and suddenly realized that he no longer felt that all-consuming bloodlust and hatred for all living things. What was that? Kopii didn't understand. But he knew that if it weren't for those feelings, he would have certainly perished in the embrace of the killer ants.

Reflecting on what had happened, he suddenly remembered Naaza and Miyahe. Maybe they know how he got here. Kopii jumped out of bed, changed his clothes, and left the room. Going downstairs, he saw Naaza, as always, standing behind the counter and selling potions to someone. Kopii waited for the customer to leave. After some time, the customer left, and Kopii approached Naaza.

"Good morning, Naaza."

She silently looked at him with sleepy eyes.

"It's already lunchtime, Kopii."

"Ha-ha…" Kopii smiled awkwardly. "Oh, it's just a habit…"

Kopii was about to say something, but Naaza interrupted him:

"How did you end up near our pharmacy unconscious and covered in blood? And your clothes were all torn. You underestimated the dungeon and paid the price, if you couldn't even open the door and go to the 'Blue Pharmacy'."

Hearing this, Kopii realized that Naaza herself didn't know how he got here. He decided to tell her his story, changing it a little.

"Yes, Naaza, you're right. I was too confident and paid for it. If it wasn't for your potions, I wouldn't have survived. I was so tired that I lost consciousness when I was trying to open the door. How lucky I was that you were inside! And by the way, weren't you going to rest, and you're already working? Changed your mind?"

After listening to Kopii, she responded after a moment:

"No, Kopii, you're mistaken. I took a day off yesterday, so you're wrong."

"Yesterday?" Kopii asked, puzzled.

"Yes, yesterday. You were unconscious all day. Miyahe-sama found you and took you to your room."

Before she could finish, Kopii exclaimed in surprise:

"What? I was unconscious all day?"

"Yes, Kopii. Are you even listening to me?"

"Sorry."

"It's okay."

"Well, okay… Miyahe-sama is wandering somewhere again?"

"No, he's upstairs right now."

"I see. Then I'll go to him."

Kopii started climbing the stairs, but turned around and said to Naaza:

"Sorry for making you worry."

After that, he continued to climb, knocked on Miyahe's room, and entered.

"Oh, hello, Miyahe-sama."

He nodded, looking at him attentively, while smiling.

"I see you've rested well, Kopii. You spent all day in bed."

"Yes, Miyahe-sama. I feel refreshed."

"I wanted to ask, why were you lying near the entrance to the 'Blue Pharmacy'?"

"I just overestimated my strength and got so tired that, when I stepped on the threshold of the 'Blue Pharmacy', I lost consciousness. I won't be so presumptuous again."

"It's good that you understand that. When I saw you, I got very worried, but after looking at your body, I saw that it was completely healthy. It's just that your clothes were all torn and covered in blood."

"Sorry, Miyahe-sama, for making you worry," Kopii lowered his eyes, he was ashamed to look at Miyahe, until he felt him ruffle his hair.

"You have nothing to apologize for. You're my child, Kopii. I'm just glad that you're healthy."

Kopii looked at Miyahe's face, at his smile. Kopii didn't even notice that he himself started smiling. He was glad that someone was worried about him. It warmed his heart.

"Thank you, Miyahe-sama. I promise that this will never happen again."

"I'm glad to hear that, Kopii."

"Well, okay, Miyahe-sama. I didn't come here to talk. I want to update my status."

"Well, if so, you know what to do, Kopii."

Kopii nodded, took off his outer clothing, and sat on a chair, turning his back to Miyahe. He felt him prick his finger, and a drop of blood fell on his back.

Silence fell. Miyahe was silent for a few minutes. Kopii became curious, and he looked back and saw Miyahe's shocked face. Kopii jumped up from the chair and turned completely to him.

"Are you okay, Miyahe-sama?" Kopii asked worriedly.

Miyahe was silent for a little longer, and his face returned to normal, but there was still an echo of shock there.

"Everything is fine, Kopii. Nothing serious. It's just… I was shocked by your excessively high growth."

"Write it down, Miyahe-sama, faster. I want to see."

"Alright, Kopii."

Kopii watched as Miyahe walked to the table, took a sheet of paper and a pen, and started writing. After he finished, he approached Kopii and gave him the sheet. Kopii looked at the sheet, and his face also stretched out in surprise.

Kopii didn't understand how it was possible to level up so quickly. He remembered the last time he updated his status, it was many times smaller. How could he raise them so quickly? But joy began to grow in his heart that he was progressing so quickly. But he still asked:

"How is this possible, Miyahe-sama?"

Miyahe looked at Kopii and said:

"I don't know, Kopii. In all this time, you are the first one I see who raises the characteristics so quickly… You know, Kopii, at this rate, you can rise to the second level next month. If you do, then you will break the record of Aiz Wallenstein and become the fastest to raise a level! Ha-ha-ha!"

Miyahe laughed and patted Kopii on the back.

"You, Kopii, are a genius of geniuses!"

Miyahe-sama became more serious and said:

"But, Kopii, understand that you shouldn't rush and lose vigilance just because you are leveling up very quickly. Understood, Kopii?"

"Yes, Miyahe-sama. I understand perfectly well that you can never relax and look down on the enemy."

After a few more minutes of talking, Kopii left the room and headed to his own. Lying in bed, he thought again about the fact that he was not useless, that he was capable of something.

"Maybe this is my destiny."
