Chapter 9 – Hestia Familia!

Chapter 9 - Hestia Familia!

After forming her familia, Hestia got kicked out by Hephaestus. The reason was pretty clear.

"You've got your own familia now. You can't keep living here. As a goddess of a familia, act like it."

Hephaestus's words left Hestia with no choice but to leave, even though she was tearing up. She couldn't stick around with her child. A familia needed its own place. Crashing at someone else's place meant she was failing as a goddess.

Hestia couldn't stay with Hephaestus and her kids. If it were just her, she might've shamelessly stayed. But with her child, she couldn't just mooch off like that.

So, Hestia had to leave Hephaestus's shop and find a place for her familia.

But without any money, finding a decent place was impossible. Money makes the world go round, and without it, they were stuck.

This meant the Hestia Familia had to find somewhere where cash wasn't a problem. Bell remembered some abandoned corner of Orario from the anime, a run-down place nobody gave a damn about.

"Hestia-sama, is there any place in Orario where we don't need money?"

"Well... I know of one."

Hestia knew of a place that didn't need money, but no other god would ever choose it. Now, she had no choice. As a goddess, she was broke.

Choosing such a shitty place as their base sucked, and Hestia felt guilty looking at Bell.

"It's an abandoned church. It's remote, dark, and barely livable."

Bell, though, didn't mind.

For the Hestia Familia, what mattered most wasn't money, power, or status—it was Hestia herself. She was the real treasure of the familia. Money, power, and status would come later. No god got rich and free right after landing in the lower world.

Bell shook his head slightly.

"Hestia-sama, don't stress. Building a familia doesn't happen overnight. We're new, so we can't waste money. Besides, a remote, dark, and obscure place suits us right now."

"Do you really mean that?"

"Of course. Because of me, our Hestia Familia is far from other familias, so no one finds out about my abilities."

Bell knew Hestia was a sensitive goddess, and he wanted her to feel better about the situation, even if it was tough.

"Bell-kun is just trying to make me feel better."

Hestia wasn't clueless. She knew why Bell was saying this—to ease her worries about the crappy place they'd call home. But being looked after by her child was both sweet and a bit of a hit to her pride as a goddess.

"Alright, Bell, I've made up my mind. We'll settle in that abandoned church first. When we've saved enough money, we'll move to a better place."

"Hestia-sama, that's the right attitude."

Seeing Hestia smile again, Bell encouraged her.

"Hee hee~"

Though it was new to be looked after by her child, Hestia liked it.

Straightening up, Hestia took Bell's hand.

"Let's head to our new home."

The ruins of the Hera Familia church were in the most remote part of Orario. No other familia would touch it, and there wasn't another soul nearby. It was isolated as hell.

Apart from being a dump, the place had potential if it could be rebuilt. But rebuilding was way more expensive than just buying a new place. So, this area was going to be their temporary home.

Seeing it for the first time, Hestia found it even shabbier than she expected.

"Wow, this place is really a dump."

But thinking about setting up such a shitty place as their familia's base made Hestia feel like she'd lost her dignity as a goddess. Worried about her first child's reaction, she glanced at Bell.

"It's a ruin, so don't expect too much, Hestia-sama. It's better than nothing for now. We just need to make some basic repairs to make it livable."

"We'll need to check the surroundings, too."

Bell wasn't worried about the safety of the ruins. He and Hestia were the only members of the Hestia Familia. As long as his abilities stayed secret, no other gods would bother them. But they still needed to scope out the area.

He'd need help from other familia members to keep things under wraps. The Loki Familia, being the second most powerful, was the best option. Their strength would keep others at bay.

But this plan required Bell to get stronger first. He'd only need to hide once he'd built up some strength, reducing the risk of anyone sniffing around.

Bell understood this all too well.

"Hestia-sama, it's getting late. We need to find a place to sleep."

"You're right."

Hestia noticed the sky darkening. They needed to prepare before night fell. Since there probably weren't any lamps in the ruins, they'd need firewood for light.

Thinking about it, Hestia regretted leaving Hephaestus's place.

But seeing her familia, especially her first child, Hestia pushed aside her negative thoughts. She couldn't afford to be down in the dumps now that she wasn't alone.

"Bell, let's figure out where we're staying before it gets dark. We need to clean up a bit."

"Hestia-sama, I can handle the cleaning myself…"

"Wrong!"

Hestia cut Bell off. She knew he could manage alone, but as the goddess, she couldn't just sit back while Bell did all the work. She needed to pitch in too.

"I've got to reclaim my dignity as a goddess."

Hestia was serious.

"Bell, this is our first task as the Hestia Familia. We may not have the money to buy the best place, but we've got to work together to clean up our temporary home."

Seeing this, Bell couldn't refuse.

Hestia wasn't done.

"Bell, don't think of me as some useless goddess who can't do anything. I can handle simple tasks too. So, rely on me more in the future."

"I got it, Hestia-sama."

Bell sighed but felt a little more at ease.
