Chapter 31 – Training And An Unknown Girl

Chapter 31 - Training And An Unknown Girl

Since returning to the abandoned church with Hestia that day, Bell hadn't gone back to the dungeon.

He needed time to prepare, develop his skills, and research his new powers.

As for Bell's newly awakened magic, Hestia and Hephaestus had identified its true nature. They believed its usage resembled Arcanum too closely, suggesting it was the real thing, disguised as magic.

However, using this magic required a lot of mana, and its power wasn't as strong as Arcanum.

It turned out they were right.

When Bell tested the power of Royal Thunder, he expected higher mana consumption. But as long as he kept the usage within a certain limit, the mana cost was lower. Otherwise, it would drain more quickly.

In short, it'd take time before Bell could fully control this power.

In addition to using lightning on himself, he could also infuse his weapon with it, and the mana consumption was moderate.

Now, all he needed was to master it.

Bell wasn't rushing, though. Combat Judgement gave him an advantage. If he viewed learning this magic as a "battle," it would trigger the effect of his skill.

That night, outside the abandoned church without noticing a sneaky girl, Bell stood with Kanesada Kuji in hand, holding his stance.

The slums were dark, but Bell could see everything clearly[though he couldn't see the girl]. His eyes had adapted to the night, allowing him to make out details even in total darkness.

"Whoosh~"

A gust of wind blew a leaf from a nearby tree, and it drifted less than five meters in front of him.

CRACK~!

A blue arc of lightning flickered around Bell's hand. In an instant, he crossed the five-meter gap. His sword sliced through the leaf as he passed, splitting it in two.

But because his speed surpassed time and space, the leaf hadn't fully separated yet.

Bell quickly turned, using the rebound to strike the leaf again.

The arcs around his hand faded, and time seemed to resume. The leaf, frozen in midair, was now cut into twelve even pieces.

The heat from his slashes ignited the pieces before they could fall, turning them to ash in the air.

After countless attempts, Bell sighed..

"I'm starting to get more control," he thought.

Lightning wasn't easy to control. Since learning Royal Thunder, Bell's perception of speed had changed completely.

In the future, he might reach the speed of Thunder itself, so he needed to adapt to that.

Fortunately, Combat Judgement had been a huge help.

At first, his steps covered more than a hundred meters, and he even crashed into walls a few times. But with practice, he gradually became more comfortable with the speed.

"My swordsmanship is improving too. After all, I'm the nameless martial artist," Bell mused.

Tsubame Gaeshi, Bell's ultimate move, was the peak of swordsmanship. It didn't rely on magic but could almost achieve the Multi-Dimensional Refraction Phenomenon of Zelretch's Second Magic, surpassing time and space limits.

His skill with the sword now matched the level of the nameless martial artist at the end of his life.

After storing Kanesada Kuji in his spatial pocket, Bell took a deep breath, steadying himself.

"After three days, my body has adjusted to these improvements. I'm close to mastering this... It's time to head back to the dungeon."

Only in the dungeon could Bell truly test his full strength.

He had prepared enough these past three days. Now, it was time to return to the dungeon.

A girl with long hair walked through the streets of Orario. Her hair was like a waterfall, golden in color. She had a well-proportioned figure and a face that looked almost like a goddess's.

Her face showed confusion, the strange events around her making her feel out of place.

First, she was forcefully woken up and brought to this world with no clue what had happened.

Second, she sensed familiar auras—one was disgusting, and the other felt gentle.

Normally, she'd go after the disgusting one without hesitation. But here, in an unknown place, the worst part was that she couldn't use her powers. If she tried to face that disgusting presence now, she wouldn't be able to stop him.

"Is this Zelretch's work?" she muttered, turning her head slightly when she heard some happy voices nearby.

"Wait, this gentle aura..."

She stopped, noticing a boy and a girl walking together. The girl had a huge, dangerous aura, while the boy's was soft and gentle...

"Shiki...?"

Her eyes widened. There was no mistaking it—this was Shiki's aura.

"I need to figure out if this girl is dangerous."

"What if Shiki was forced?"

"I have to protect him."

She quietly followed them, keeping her distance, watching their every move. After a while, she saw them approach an abandoned church, its worn-down structure standing quietly in the shadows.

"They're going inside?" she muttered to herself, eyes narrowing as she watched them step through the door.
