Chapter 15 – Was That Magic!?

Chapter 15 - Was That Magic!?

Just before sunset, Bell made his way to the guild.

Since it was late afternoon, the adventurers still deep in the dungeon hadn't returned yet, but those who had been on the upper floors were already done for the day.

This timing meant the guild was relatively quiet, with the rush hour having just passed.

Bell entered the guild and immediately spotted Eina at the front desk. Luckily, he didn't have to deal with an unfamiliar receptionist. He headed straight to her.

"Miss Eina."

Eina, busy with her work, suddenly heard a familiar voice. Looking up, she recognized the rookie adventurer who she had met yesterday.

She remembered his name—Bell Cranel—and that he seemed pretty self-aware for a newbie. She had even been pretty blunt with him because of it.

Remembering how harsh she had been, Eina felt a bit more embarrassed. As a receptionist, she was just doing her job, but she couldn't help but worry that maybe she had been a little too tough on him.

Especially now, knowing how clear-headed Bell was, she felt a bit guilty.

But Eina knew she had to keep a professional distance from adventurers to avoid any mess. So, she figured she'd make up for it by doing her job right.

Now that she was paying more attention, Eina noticed some bloodstains on Bell's face.

Looked like he had just gotten back from the dungeon, most likely the first floor.

"Bell, did you just come back from the dungeon?"

"Yeah. I was just wandering around the upper floors, dealing with goblins. After a few fights, I realized even goblins aren't as easy to deal with as I thought. Things wouldn't have gone so smoothly today if I hadn't been lucky."

Eina took a closer look at the boy in front of her. At fourteen, he was still prone to impulsiveness.

If he were older, maybe he'd handle the situation better. But Eina could only sigh internally, knowing she couldn't change that.

As an adventurer, Bell had to go to the dungeon, just like a soldier has to go to war.

As a receptionist, it wasn't really her place to butt in without permission.

"I came here today because I need your help with something."

Bell didn't waste any time getting to the point.

As an adventurer, there weren't many reasons to visit the guild. Besides getting information, he needed to deal with the magic stones and drops he got.

Eina understood what he meant but wasn't sure why he needed her help specifically.

The guild had a special counter for selling magic stones and drops, just next to them.

Did he just want her to help him out? Eina figured there was more to it.

"Is there a specific reason?"

Eina didn't pry directly, but she assumed Bell had a good reason for asking her.

She nodded slightly and stood up, pointing to a nearby private room.

"Then, Bell, go ahead to that room and wait for me."

"Thanks."

Bell appreciated Eina's trust. She was way more understanding than he had expected.

If that was the case, it was best to let Eina help him with the magic stones and drops.

He got up and headed to the room Eina pointed out.

There was no lock outside; he could just open the door and enter. But when he closed the door, Bell noticed a bunch of special locks inside.

Once the door was shut, the room was soundproof, lit with some magic stones since there were no windows.

'The room's confidentiality is solid. As long as no one sees me pulling out a ton of magic stones and drops, no one will know what I'm capable of.'

'Unless Eina somehow spills the beans under pressure.'

'But it's not likely anyone could force that. As long as I keep a low profile, no one will notice me.'

In the middle of the room was a long table with sofas on both sides.

Bell didn't sit down; he just stood there, waiting for Eina to arrive.

Soon, Eina came in alone.

Seeing Bell standing there waiting for her, she was a bit surprised but gestured for Bell to sit down.

"Bell, have a seat."

"Thanks."

Bell didn't hesitate and sat directly across from Miss Eina.

"So, Bell, what do you need help with?"

Eina was now curious why Bell wanted to talk to her alone. If it was just to sell some magic stones and drops, he could've done that at the counter.

This had to be something bigger!

Bell clasped his hands together, making some noise before slowly opening them. Countless magic stones fell onto the table like rain.

"Huh?"

Eina, who had seen a lot, was momentarily stunned. "What did Bell just do?"

She instinctively grabbed Bell's hand, checking if there were any hidden compartments. But there were no tricks—so how did he produce so many magic stones?

Magic!

Eina got it immediately. Bell had used magic to pull out a ton of magic stones from his hands.

She also understood why Bell was being so cautious.

"Bell, was that... magic?"

Bell nodded slightly.

"Is it... spatial magic? The kind that stores items?"

Bell nodded again.

Having confirmed this, Eina instantly felt the weight of the situation. If Bell's magic got out, then the whole Orario would be after him.
