Chapter 89: Chapter 88: The Scheming Wolf Girl and a Frightened Clark!
"Actually, I'm a local. This farm was inherited from my parents," Peter calmly placed his utensils down and replied, meeting the chief's meaningful gaze.
"You don't seem like a local, Peter," the chief commented.
Sensing the awkward tension at the table, Kelly quickly changed the subject. "My grandfather is an expert in ancient scripts. Those cave writings—I believe he can decipher them and maybe even uncover some mysteries."
The chief turned to his granddaughter. "That is, if Luthor doesn't demolish the caves first."
He thanked Peter again. "In any case, Peter, I must express my gratitude. Without you, that man would likely have gone through with it."
"Grandfather, do you know Lionel Luthor well?" Kelly asked curiously.
"I don't know him personally, but I know he's a wolf in sheep's clothing."
Hearing this, Peter nodded subtly and glanced at Kelly. He wasn't sure if Lionel was a wolf in sheep's clothing, but there was definitely a real wolf in disguise at the table—a certain scheming woman.

The Next Morning...
In a stroller, Star-Lord was engrossed in a TV commercial.
A cowboy with a revolver fired shots, but instead of bullets, cookies flew out. Around him were piles of chocolate slices, crisp wafers, and oatmeal cookies.
The cowboy stood among the cookies, frustrated, his revolver empty, and lamented, "Ugh, the bad guys got away!"
Suddenly, with triumphant background music, the cowboy's expression changed as he turned to the screen and declared, "But I've got cookies—the best cookies in the West… nay, the world!"
The scene faded as the cowboy bit into a cookie, his face lighting up with exaggerated bliss.
Peter watched the absurd commercial in disbelief and asked Kelly, who was clearing dishes, "You didn't feed Star-Lord cookies, did you?"
"No. He's just a baby; cookies aren't suitable for him."
Kelly glanced at the baby, still transfixed by the TV, and added, "Though, to be honest, he doesn't exactly look like a baby who shouldn't have cookies."
"Are you talking about his weight?"
Kelly shook her head. "Not just his size—there's something about his… maturity."
Peter frowned. "Maturity? What do you mean?"
"Well… he can talk now."
Kelly recalled how, the night before, the little rascal had called her "Mom."
"Really? What did he say?"
Kelly, too embarrassed to admit the truth, fibbed, "He said, 'Hungry.'"
Peter looked at Star-Lord in amazement. "Could he really be a genius?"
Star-Lord, as if sensing their conversation, turned from the TV and gave them an innocent smile.

Smallville Elementary
Clark and Azu were sitting in front of a TV, watching the same Sharp Cookies commercial.
"This cookie looks delicious," Clark remarked.
"I think you should be careful," Azu replied, his tone serious. "Too much sweets can make you fat."
"Sweet foods are the easiest to fatten you up," Azu continued, listing the dangers of cookies, cereals, and sugary treats. "Dad says you can't trust those things—sweets are the devil."
"Self-control is the real issue," Clark declared confidently. "And I have self-control."
"No, you don't," Azu countered. "The devil will tempt you."
"You're the one who'll be tempted!"
The two continued bickering about temptation and devils all the way home. Later, their curiosity about the subject led Clark to ask Peter about demon legends.
Peter redirected the duo to Kelly. "Maybe Miss Kelly can tell you. Her tribe has lots of legends about demons."
Kelly sighed. "We're not just any tribe, Peter. We're Kawachi."
"My bad," Peter replied, smirking. "So, any Kawachi tales about demons, Wendigos, or Sasquatch? These two are eager for spooky stories."
When Kelly finally shared a scary story about an ancient demon named Dudd, her vivid storytelling left Clark terrified and Azu skeptical but intrigued.

Later that day, Peter received a call. His expression turned grim. "What's wrong?" Kelly asked.
"There's been a murder—a farmer was found dead. The police want to speak with local farm owners."
At Charles Boone's farm, the gruesome scene left Peter uneasy. The farmer's body had been torn apart, his blood painting the walls like a macabre canvas.
Chandler, the officer on duty, briefed Peter. "We don't know the motive yet—robbery or something more sinister. We're warning all farm owners to stay vigilant."
Examining the scene, Peter noted the savage nature of the wounds. They didn't look like they came from a weapon but from something far more primal.
"This… doesn't seem human," Peter muttered under his breath.
