D' Ultimate Lich King

Chapter 122: DULK: Chapter 122

Ryuunosuke Uryuu was the epitome of madness.

What's most terrifying about such madness is the perpetrator's complete lack of awareness of their own insanity; they believe their actions are perfectly justified.

A gleeful killer—that's the most accurate description of Ryuunosuke Uryuu.

Ryuunosuke had no interest in the Holy Grail; he didn't even know of its existence before summoning his Caster.

However, the Uryuu bloodline possessed magical abilities, and Ryuunosuke unexpectedly discovered a text on summoning "demons" in a warehouse.

He experimented with drawing magical circles during his burglaries, finally summoning his Caster on his fourth attempt. His participation in the Holy Grail War was entirely accidental.

Before summoning his Caster, he had murdered 42 people. After summoning the Caster, he used the Servant's power to indulge in even more sadistic killings.

While Ryuunosuke didn't understand the significance of the Holy Grail War, he had undoubtedly become enamored with this deadly game.

Witnessing the Caster's power fueled Ryuunosuke's delusion of invincibility. With such a powerful Servant protecting him, what was there to fear?

He could gleefully indulge in his sadistic killings every day—it was truly magnificent, in his twisted mind.

Ryuunosuke was utterly oblivious to the implications of the Holy Grail War, the dynamics between the other Masters and Servants, and the nature of the man now standing before him.

He perceived this man as nothing more than an unwelcome meddler, disrupting his perverse pleasures. He had encountered many such individuals before, and they had all met their demise at his hands without exception.

"You're spoiling my fun, so die!"

Ryuunosuke yelled, raising his dagger. But before he could bring the blade down, a sharp pain shot through him.

Confused, Ryuunosuke looked down to find a small girl standing on his chest.

Her features were indistinct in the darkness, but what was clear to Ryuunosuke were the iridescent, jewel-encrusted wings fluttering behind her and her pair of blood-red eyes.

So beautiful… such a cute child; torturing her would be incredibly satisfying, Ryuunosuke thought. Then he tasted blood; crimson liquid trickled down his lips.

What… am I bleeding? Why am I bleeding?*

Ryuunosuke wondered, as Flandre slowly withdrew her hand. A fiendish smile played on the girl's lips; a still-beating heart was firmly clutched in her palm.

"So fragile… such a light touch… and it's broken," she remarked.

The Berserker class seemed appropriate. Silently observing Flandre's contorted face in the darkness, Illya instinctively leaned closer to Arthas out of fear.

Arthas kept Rin Tohsaka firmly in his embrace, preventing the curious girl from turning to witness the gruesome scene.

Perhaps, however, such a sight was nothing new to her? After all, she was the eldest daughter of the Tohsaka family; a typical child would have been utterly terrified.

Arthas gently stroked Rin's head. Although the underground bar was pitch black, the heavy stench of blood clearly indicated what had transpired.

They all had to die—both the Caster and his Master! They must pay for their actions!

"Kill him, Flandre,"

Arthas stated without hesitation, issuing his first command to Flandre as her Master.

"As you… wish!"

The girl, with a playful giggle, crushed the heart in her hand.

Ryuunosuke, still utterly bewildered by the turn of events, froze, then slowly collapsed. He died without ever comprehending what the girl had done to him.

But at the very end, Ryuunosuke realized he was dying; he didn't want to die. He had finally obtained the opportunity to indulge in his sadistic killings without consequence, and he didn't want to lose it so easily.

Perhaps at that moment, the line between a normal human and a homicidal maniac was clearly drawn.

While Ryuunosuke's heart had indeed been crushed—a fatal injury for a normal human—for a Servant, especially a magic-proficient Caster, such an injury wasn't necessarily lethal.

With prompt and appropriate intervention, there was a chance of survival, particularly with the aid of a Command Seal.

As Ryuunosuke was about to succumb, a torrent of magical energy, like a surging flood, enveloped him, and a man in a large cloak slowly materialized.

"What happened, Master? Who dared to lay their hands on you?!"

His eyes wide like a frog's, the Caster wailed, cradling the dying Ryuunosuke.

"We meet again, Caster. You finally deigned to appear,"

A heavy sigh echoed through the darkness, causing the Caster to jolt; he looked towards the source of the familiar voice.

"It's… you! It's actually you!"

The hateful face slowly emerged, causing the Caster to roar in fury. It was this man who had thwarted his plans to retrieve his beloved Jeanne.

"You stopped me, and now you've harmed my dear Ryuunosuke. What is your intention?! What are you doing?!

Damn you! Damn you to hell! You deserve to die a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand times!"

The Caster raged like a madman, while Arthas simply chuckled softly.

"You want to kill me? Very well… then come and try."

The instant Arthas finished speaking, the Caster acutely sensed an overwhelming aura of danger. Reacting swiftly, he rolled away clumsily, clutching Ryuunosuke's body.

The space where he and Ryuunosuke had been standing warped grotesquely, as if someone had forcibly ripped it from this world.
