Cybernetic Evolution System

Chapter 66: Star Auction Auditorium

I wondered how long it would take before the evaluation system recognised my improved combat abilities, so I wouldn't have to see them waiting here every time I stepped out of the dungeon.

As I passed by them, I nodded.

They didn't respond. Their gazes trailed behind me as I exited the dungeon hall.

Within minutes, I returned to my dorm room.

Once again, no one barged in.

I think that my victory against Jaran sent a perfect message to anyone who wanted to mess with me.

I opened my storage bag and pulled out the cybernetic-enhanced sabre-tooth rabbits.

A bright light flashed as they appeared at the centre of my bedroom.

"You two will guard my dorm room from now on. Don't attack anyone who breaks in unless the intruder attempts to vandalise my room, or sneak in while I'm asleep."

I instructed CR3 and CR4.

I didn't order them to attack everyone because there could be others like Milas, who could break in without causing any damage. However, I wanted to know who they were and why they broke into my room if I didn't encounter them when I returned.

"Understood, master."

"Understood, master."

They raised their forelimbs to their cybernetic ears and responded with a salute.

Who taught them that?

Felix?

My forehead creased.

They turned around and immediately dived under the bed.

I checked the time.

11:30 pm.

Thirty minutes before midnight.

I went to the kitchen, took out the pies, and placed them in the oven to rewarm.

I didn't change out of my combat uniform because I still planned on returning to the dungeon to begin my training session.

I walked to the bathroom to wash my hands and face.

After it was warmed, I took the pies out of the oven and ate them on the table counter.

I started with the meat pie.

The crust. Sauce. Meat filling.

It was amazing.

I was no longer surprised that Julia was the President of the Bakery Club.

With how delicious it tasted, I could have mistaken it for a genuine chef's work if I hadn't seen her make it herself.

After I was done, I moved on to the fruit pie.

The truth was that no awakener was a vegetarian.

Although the infrastructure within Thunder Sky fortress was advanced enough to support and facilitate the growth of greenery for public consumption, magical beasts' meat was more plentiful and, due to the magical properties contained within them, which could stimulate an awakener's spirit veins, they were more preferred.

It was also more expensive due to the effort it took to eliminate and capture them.

So eating magical beasts' meat was seen as a sign of luxury.

Even among ordinary civilians.

For noble clans and other prestigious families, with their abundance of resources, it was usually just a matter of taste or choice.

After I finished eating, I cleaned the dishes.

I went to my bedroom, took my VR gear from the table, and sat in the chair across the room.

I tilted the chair backwards into a semi-reclined position, then put on the VR headset and switched it on.

The transparent visor shone with a glow.

[ Initiating User Scan... ]

Beep.

[ Scan complete. Welcome back, User: theGreatOne01. ]

[ Syncing with Grand Avalon Academy Server... ]

I arrived at the familiar water fountain scenery, where a mystical beast stood with water pouring out of its mouth into the basin.

"Profile."

A green holographic status appeared before me.

I was about to send a message to MistPrincess02 to ask if she knew any new information about the Zahara Clans' descendants or Fredric's schemes.

I suspected that they had changed their plans once more after learning about Jaran's defeat.

I stopped, seeing that I had an unread message.

Curious, I clicked on it.

It was from miniman.

[ Sent by miniman (Reputation: +500) - Hey bro, are you busy? ]

He had sent it three hours ago.

A follow-up message arrived two hours ago.

[ ... If you aren't busy. I need your help. I'll be visiting an event that requires me to bring a partner along. In exchange, you might be able to make connections and get a tremendous amount of reputation points simultaneously. What do you think?

Please give it some thought when you come online. I'll be waiting for your response before noon. Suppose you aren't online before then.

Don't bother. ]

An event?

Knowing him, it wouldn't be a simple event.

The only clue that I got was that this was probably a gathering of prestigious nobles and families.

If that's the case, then this was an opportunity to gather more information about the Zahara Clans' descendants' schemes. And how they might try to harm me.

It was already 11:55 pm.

I quickly sent a reply.

[ I'm not busy. I can make it. Tell me what kind of event it is? ]

I received a quick response.

[ Sent by miniman (Reputation: +500) - I almost thought that you weren't going to come online, I'm sorry, I can't tell you about the event until I'm certain you'll be there.

But I'm sure that you'll enjoy it, and might even thank me for it. Meet me at the entrance of the Star Auction Auditorium. ]

Star Auction Auditorium is one of the special places where you need a certain level of reputation points to enter.

Students can purchase items at the Star Auction Auditorium with their merit points.

Due to the value of merit points and the disparity of power between nobles and commoners, most purchases made with merit points were mainly done within the Grand Avalon Academy Server.

Any purchase would be sent to the buyer's dorm room. So there was no need to worry about being seen or bullied over a purchase.

As long as one had enough merit points, they were free to buy whatever they wanted. If there were an event at the Star Auction Auditorium, then even I would have already heard of it.

Had I missed another vital information again?

I furrowed my brows in thought.

I sighed.

It doesn't matter.

This was part of the reason I had carefully picked my friends, so I could fill the information gap and handle several other important matters with ease.

[ Alright. I'll be there immediately. ]

I opened my map and clicked on an icon labelled the Star Auction Auditorium.

[ Do you wish to move to the 'Star Auction Auditorium'? Yes/No. ]

The map was a feature that covered a section of the Grand Avalon Academy Server, exclusive to First Year students.

To move between locations instantaneously, one needed to explore the area first on foot. I'd already explored every area there is.

I quickly clicked yes.

My body scattered into countless fragments of light composed of zeros and ones.

My vision darkened.

Seconds later, I recovered my vision.

My body was quickly reconstructed.

I found myself in a plaza before an enormous building with glass panels, shaped like a star. It stood at the centre of the plaza.

Star Auction Auditorium.

A few students walked through the plaza, stepping in or out, and quickly vanishing in a flicker of zeros and ones.

I quickly spotted a fair-skinned young man dressed in casual beige shorts and a black shirt. He wore black sunglasses and flip-flops and was constantly looking around his surroundings.

His name was Raveer Khanna, a direct descendant of the Khanna Family, a prestigious lineage of the Assassin Path.

He's also ranked sixth in the Class Two Assassin Department rankings.

In the Grand Avalon Academy Server, his name is 'miniman.'

I waved at him.

He quickly spotted me and waved back.

I walked towards him.

"Where have you been?" miniman said, stretching out his hand for a handshake.

I returned with a handshake before withdrawing my hand.

"I was training."

My reply was short. There was no need for me to go into details.

And he already knew that I won't.

"Everyone trains, but not like the way you do," miniman chuckled and gently tapped my shoulder.

"I can't help but wonder which class in the Magical Swordsman Department you are in, but since you don't want to reveal your identity, I'll respect your decision."

"Come on, let's go. We are already late."

He grabbed me by the hand and pulled me in.

As we walked through the revolving doors of the Star Auction Auditorium, I asked, "So what kind of event are we attending?"

"Alright. Listen carefully," miniman whispered as we walked down a hall adorned with beautiful paintings and sculptures on either side of the walls.

"I'm sure you've already heard of this. But I'll explain. A few weeks ago, the repair crews for the Magical Swordsman department suffered severe food poisoning that landed them in the intensive care units."

"It was discovered that it was because one of them had stored a portion in a storage meant for their food supplies the food for safekeeping."

"Unfortunately, it had contaminated their food supplies, leading to widespread food poisoning. Now here is where things get tricky... after careful investigations, it was recently uncovered that the portion was a part of the items sold at the Star Auction Auditorium."

...

I realised that I made a mistake in the previous chapters. Emily = Esther.
